  1. I was once harassed by the SWP guys outside the QMU at Glasgow Uni, trying to get me to sign up for their newsletter and in general being a roadblock between me and my route to whisky. Luckily I got rid of them by saying "you guys are too right wing for my liking" and darted indoors while they looked all confused.

If Trump's next speech got interrupted by a bad giant prawn SFX I would totally reappraise The Invisible Enemy...

    The 2020 Deathlist Cup

Ah, a decent lead with just under half the month left to go. Biblio's team could easily drop en masse to coronavirus at any second though so this one ain't over...

    Javier Perez De Cuellar

Yes, if it carries on like this, we might need to suspect Gooseberry of doing a DL style rain dance...

    Derby Dead Pool 2020

Usually when you see that, the person didn't nominate any subs or reply to requests to do so, and the system kept crashing by removing them. They wont get points anyhow!

    Wrestlers/actors

In the 90s and 00s there was a spate of extremely premature wrestling deaths ie 30s-50s. In the last decade or so it has been mostly folk in the 50-70 range, with the deaths under that tending to be the suicides. To be succinct and blunt, pro-wrestling was swimming in booze and cocaine in the 1980s, and peoples hearts are starting to take the toll in their 60s onwards. We are seeing much the same in rock stars of the same age. There is a specific off shoot of the US opioid crisis, in that even as a choreographed thing, wrestlers get beat down a lot and suffer a lot of chronic pain, so turn to a variety of pain meds. Far too many premature wrestling deaths have been linked to painkiller overdoses (especially with booze) over time weakening the heart, aided by doctors who will sign any prescription as long as money is involved. Time will tell if the modern kick for wrestlers to prefer health eating, exercise and video games instead produces an uptick in their longevity. But the painkiller thing will always be there. I mean, get rid of the "these people are only known for showing up on Wiki's longevity lists" and discounting the odd territory star that falls down the back of a sofa, here's the notable pro-wrestlers (almost all QO certs likely) aged 70 or older... 1926 - Bill Mercer 1931 - Tony Marino 1932 - Dominic Denucci, Danny Hodge, Gene LaBell 1934 - Mr Wrestling II 1935 - Jack Lanza, Hisashi Shima 1936 - Eddie Sharkey 1937 - Mark Lewin, Jim Breaks 1938 - Dean Ho, Angela Mosca, Paul Vachon, Jody Hamilton, Ted Turner 1939 - Billy White Wolf, Bill Watts, Bob Armstrong, Jim Herd 1940 - Baron Van Raschke, Iron Sheik, Sweet Daddy Siki, Les Thatcher, Adrian Street, Alan Kilby, Spiros Arion 1941 - Abdullah the Butcher, Pat Patterson, Dory Funk Jr, Gino Brito, Ivan Putski, Thunderbolt Patterson, Kendo Nagasaki 1942 - JJ Dillon, Mil Mascaras, Jimmy Valiant, Ken Patera, Afa, Johnny Saint, Jerry Jarrett, Ole Anderson, Jack Veneno 1943 - Antonio Inoki, Superstar Billy Graham, Bill Dundee 1944 - Jimmy Hart, Terry Funk, Butch, Tiger Jeet Singh, Bobby Duncum Sr, Jim Crockett Jr 1945 - Ronnie Garvin, Sika, Vince McMahon, Pete Doherty, Colone DeBeers 1946 - Gerry Brisco, Tony Garea, David Crockett 1947 - Luke, George Wells, Ax, Teddy Long, Killer Khan, Killer Tim Brooks, Tommy Young 1948 - Black Bart, Sgt Slaughter, Linda McMahon, Carlos Colon, Greg Gagne, Great Kabuki, Tiger Chung Lee 1949 - Ric Flair, Dave and Earl Hebner, Jerry Lawler, Jim Brunzell, Bob Backlund, Stan Hansen, Don Muraco, Mike Adamle, Kevin Sullivan, Paul Orndorff, Zeb Colter, Austin Idol, Iceman King Parsons I mean, it's not exactly a huge list.

    UK Singles Chart

Be wary, there's a lot of rubbish lifted by brief appearances by a Doris Day, Lonnie Donegan or Bill Haley for years before Elvis and co show up. If I ever need to hear Al Martino again it'll be too soon... Great thread idea, btw.

    Coronavirus death toll 2020

Aye, about 14-20 thousand people died every October-December time from the flu iirc, but nobody panics because that's life as normal.

Ruth Madoc is on Pointless Celebrities tonight and one for the "folk needing a seat" list previously inhabited by Paul Darrow and Heather Couper. She doesn't look near death, but just saying, just in case...

    Coronavirus death toll 2020

My immune system is shit (chronic asthma) but I'm not panicking either. Now fingers crossed folk wont look back at this thread in 5 years and go "Remember when msc was alive? Christ, he was boring..."

    The 2020 Deathlist Cup

Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure it was the Death Impends v The Dead Cow Quarterfinal (?) in 2017 which was settled by one point with a death on the 29th or 30th of the month. DI won by a single unique bonus point.

    Derby Dead Pool 2020

Last two have produced misses of sorts - 2012 Davy Jones of the Monkees was picked a year before, and in 2016, Louise Rennison kept her front page BBC news cancer private.
