I think so. Ever seen The Simpsons where Sideshow Bob runs for Mayor? The DJ in that is based on him. (Awaiting the "NO" here...) I believe he's regarded as one of those public figures who paved the way for folk like Donald Trump, by going on and on about Clinton conspiracies, Obama's birth records, for years etc. He was a massive shill for the Bush government last decade especially on the fucking Iraq War.

WAKE UP JOEY! I think this probably counts as a QO given precedent and thus the Cup has started? https://tejanonation.net/2020/02/03/tejano-industry-mourns-the-passing-of-grammy-winning-musician-and-producer-mario-vigil-at-35/

I'm not. He only fell this evening!
-
Yeah he fell and needed help getting back up, but was in his seat for the show. Not in danger, but all these A-listers of that generation are getting up in age now.

Whereas the stattos are watching 20 attempts at breaking the Boudicca Record and are all Centre holds it...holds it...HOLDS IT!

Julian Lennon has a touch of the old malignant skin cancer, with test results yet to come to see how malignant it is after surgery.

...I thought they were going "TUNE!" as in "this piece has a great tune..."

Well he (John) looked much the same in the mid 90s as he does now tbh! Alas, both subjects have been chucked out of the McCance and plopped into the awful Lord no Hope Building, as the bigger offices in the former are now taken up by the uni finance department instead.

History student back in the day, eh?

First human to attain age of 150 yrs already born?
msc replied to GMsohum's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Right now (and being succinct) the evidence is basically: humans can live to their 80s with good health and good luck, to their 90s with incredibly good health and good luck, and some make it past their 100s with incredibly good health AND incredibly good luck! That Calment remains such an outlier sort of suggests 125 isn't forseeable, let alone 150... Not that I'm not rooting for Kane Tanaka to break all the records. -
iirc they announced Jack was gravely ill on the 1st or 2nd of January. Some folk just have no consideration of deadpoolers...

No, it makes perfect sense, stay on the Bacardi clearly!

Damn straight!

Long ago when I was 30, I had heard of all of the above. (And when I haven't, I just google the fuckers...)

Thought that poster was Whigfield for a moment and thought "apt winner for a Saturday night..."

I hate to say it but Kobe Bryant was probably better known worldwide in 2020 than Terry Jones. Jones was #1 for me, though.

Well I'm still recovering from the finding out there that song came out TWENTY-SIX YEARS AGO to be completely honest...
-
tbh I don't want to go again with another question, but if its not Buddy Holly, I'd be surprised.

Right, thank feck that's over. Your turn. Although I did fit 9 clues into that paragraph in the hope of easy resolution.

Ok, here's a savage street cred (what's that?) killing one: This band has been dead longer than Nigel Hawthorne (just). Embarrassingly, I know many of their songs nearly word perfect, the consequences of a teenage fling. This song is their biggest UK charting hit – it didn’t get to number 1 but did chart higher than perhaps their two most famous tunes. It was however a number one in Australia in the mid 90s so cool? Think DI’s theme team, but not planets, that should be affirmation. Anymore clues and we’ll need a coffee machine. PS The Goodies. Right, that should give an answer within 5 mins...

Oh fucking hell. I've only heard of her because of camp friends! So when I saw her on the number ones Wiki list, stab in the dark. Giving it a listen on YouTube, can honestly say I've never heard the song before.
-
Ok, here's some attempted Pointless logic. Carly Rae Jepsen. Call Me Maybe? I have never heard of this song. But apparently its her only number one. And I see from Twitter lately she is big with the LGBT folk, so...maybe that was a comedy single and shes now more famous? So it fits 2 of the clues.

Based on the names I know (which isn't much): Jiroemon, Liz, Unknown Man, Grobler, HDS, An Fear Beag (An Fear for Mark in this tie), DeathbyArsenic (based on a potentially great unique joker, although Seans somewhat kamikaze "All The Cancer Names" approach could prove fruitful!), Wormfarmer, Djemba, and...feck, WW3 on this thread.

1. Adele – Someone like you 2. Rihanna – Diamonds 3. Fun – We Are Young 4. Daft Punk – Get Lucky 5. Robin Thicke – Blurred Lines 6. Avicii – Wake Me Up 7. Pharrel – Happy 8. Ronson/Mars – Uptown Funk 9. Rachel Platten – Fight Song 10. Lewis Capaldi – Someone You Loved UK number ones since 2010 I am aware of - not counting covers etc obv. Forgot about Avicii in my last post, and I only listened to that because of all the young folk on here bemoaning his death!
