Lots of dead people get picked every year. Sometimes its folk like Conway here, who frankly didn't get anywhere near the coverage his notability deserved. (As in none whatsoever). So you can see why they fall through the gap. Few years ago someone picked Jimmy Stewart, the actor. As in A list beloved Hollywood Star dead since 1997. I know, I was in denial too, but well publicised! One of our regulars recently picked Ayn Rand, who has been dead since before I was even born. Another picked someone so obscure they later turned out to be dead in 1948. But the prize still appears to be the pick who died in 1878, which is before the records are kept on site. I wanted it to be Victor Emmanuel II or something obvious ridiculous, but a few years back Handrejka suggested it was probably the confusion of then living historian Asa Briggs with long dead US politico Asa Biggs. Anyhow, since TMIB and Spade got rid of the missing persons loophole, no one has gotten points for someone who died in a previous year!

Not that I'm slow on the uptake, but earlier when I saw this I thought: "Some newbie updating Deathray's pool, he's going to be pissed when he gets back..."

Mind you, there's also Bernard Cribbins view: why capture one generation, when you can capture every single one since the 50s?

I think Reptile's looking at it. Right, front page up to date, with Mr. Derek Fowlds our current main story. Yes, he has his Mr. back. You can thank Reptile for that one too. Oh, and Yorkshire Banker has his unique hit restored, tallied up, and written. Its not like I get many chances to talk about a Scottish success in football, after all...

No, just porridge. No pauses. Although if you are cooking actual porridge, it tastes even better with sugar. Some folk swear by jam, or slices of banana. Or slices of fruit and sugar. Yep, create a healthy dish and then add shite to it, it's the Scottish way...

Being an unimaginative Glaswegian, I pronounce it Genesis Porridge. As in Phil Collins's band, and the breakfast cereal.

This thread could be renamed "TV actors from the 60s and 70s" tbh. Another one who went without a single obit or even mention was Derek Smee, TV regular in the 60s in stuff like The Saint, Sherlock Holmes and, yes, Doctor Who as an early victim of the Autons. Was a TV and stage regular into this century, here he is in the famous BBC Ghost Watch in 1992: Died in 2014, apparently. A good number of TV actors fall this way, despite best efforts by folk to find them and pay proper tribute.

In that Question of Sport 50th anniversary doc he looked fucking ancient but quite chatty. Willie Carson looked and sounded much older than he was.

Indeed, a sad loss. All thread leads in one of the greatest shows ever made (YM/YPM) all gone now. RIP.

Only other thing I can find is this, which has him as very, very ill last night, sadly: https://www.facebook.com/groups/64504753104/permalink/10156949025708105/ Cecily Starsky 10 hrs Dear QT family, I received a call half an hour ago that my father in law Derek Fowlds is in hospital with sepsis. He is in the Royal United Hospital Bath UK. His heart is very weak and the doctors are not sure he will make it through the night. I started sending energy immediately. Just thought I'd ask if anyone could please join in with me. I'm going to carry on, without rummaging for a photo. I think his name is enough...he is an actor and can be found by googling if you need a photo. He's brought humour and joy to many! Thank you ♥️ xx (As the forum is not auto-uploading Facebook anymore...)

Efrain Sanchez dead at 93. (Yes the links in Spanish, he was Colombian after all.) Played in 62 as goalkeeper for Colombia in all 3 of their games, including the famous 4-4 with the USSR. Also had 3 short stints as manager of Colombia, of which the most successful by far was taking them to the final of the 1975 Copa America.

The gist. Also he's lost 4 stone in 4 months as he struggles to eat anything now.

Fucking hell, if Genesis lives to midsummer this thread is going to be as long as Richard O'Sullivans at this rate...

There was a twist in the tale a few days ago with a Gooseberry post when he posted like this only to reveal Edd Byrnes was actually dead, not having a birthday. -
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Predictions

No Siouxsie and the Banshees either, and this Hall ain't big enough for the both of them... -
Loongkoonan has been in the database as that since 2015, so a bit late to change now without destroying the website. There are a shocking amount of dead people picked each year. Usually by folk who don't bother writing down any subs! Most of them got caught pre-launch but a few here and there will still be caught.

You can't help but read stuff like that, about how Jimmy Savile and Sutcliffe knew each other, and think: "Man, that's really lowered my opinion of the Yorkshire Ripper, that has!"

Ah, so a place to reference the fact that actor John Carlisle of Omega Factor fame (and one of those "Oh that guy" faces from the 1970s) died in 2011 so far off the radar the only reference was the Equity magazine in late 2014! As you can see from his imdb, he managed to die completely off the radar despite the fact he was still acting at the time!

So he's... Billy Zabka! (How I Met Your Mother reference) Well done Allen.

No worries, genuinely take care of yourself and get better soon.

Watching the Round 2 bye-line with great intent. Nobody wants msc vs Sir Creep in the first round! By nobody, I mostly mean me...

On the contrary, a few of yours showed up to process after Deathray's team of doom so I was delighted to be looking up actual celebs again. Although the only description from a Crumble team newcomer I remember writing was for Marti Webb... In the tradition of Rude Kid and onwards, there are some right sarky pick descriptions hiding out there now.

Attempting to give more shoutouts to teams when they are doing well. As I guess people like getting mentions on the front page, based on how I liked it when Pan Breed got mentioned! As with the Terrible Terrible Puns (ie Tom Long, Elizabeth Wurtzel) this may continue up to the point I suddenly have 30 in one week to do in April... I was surprised by that one as I'd done a quick count at the weekend and had him on nearly fifty teams... It turns out I'd absentmindedly counted the coding reference as well as his actual picks so doubled his number of teams entirely! Luckily the Drop 40 relies on more reliable calculations...

What is it with Deathlisters and making ominously terrifying bets? Many of us are still in therapy over the Deathray/Jimmy Carter thing...

Within 10 minutes, a QO. And top trend on Twitter right now - the benefits of a Hollywood son, no doubt. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/other-sports/wrestling/rocky-johnson-dead-rocks-wrestler-21290080
