So Who’s Your Salvage Lot of 2020

Just a few then: Suzie Aries/Dawn Lee - Felt a bit too fringey. Lee Noble - Seems to be doing a lot better than I expected. Immunotherapy. Tim Bilton - Another lock discarded late due to the immunotherapy recovery. Ady Barkan/Doddie Weir/Catherine Wreford/Nicola Mendelsohn - Feels far too early. Sophie Sabbage - Seems to be battling back yet again. Elizabeth Wurtzel - I think her cancer is controlled but tbh I struggle to get past 2 paragraphs of her writing without taking an immediate hatred of all... Richard Mills - wont obit Lee Kerslake - bored of him. Arne Sorensen - only Stage 2 pan can and rich so treatment? Mickey Thomas - on mend, somehow Patrick Murray - still making appearances, so cant be that far along. Breene Harimoto - wont get a DDP obit. Cathy MacPhail - lack of updates. Samuel Little - lack of trust Carmen Callil - Guessed she'd transfer to another theme team. Was right. Bernard Haitink - Classy pick but not much room. Katie Smith - Think she'll reach 2021.

    Well done Drol.

The 5th Crowdsource Deathlist (2020 edition)

Crosby was on mine. He's been a long time "can I find a spot on the DDP" name for me and that health update last year was enough to make him DLy for me. The Cmme clearly agree. I think he wont see the next World Cup.

    29. Joanne Woodward

Yeah there was a story from very late on in Kate Hepburns life when she was trying to remember an actor she'd starred opposite in the 1940s and kept describing him, until those present began to realise with horror she was trying to describe Spencer Tracy whom she'd completely forgotten. (40 year affair they had, followed by Hepburns 40 year mourning for him, for younger posters...) The news last year that Woodward couldn't remember who Paul Newman was anymore felt similar.

    27. Sir David Attenborough

My reasoning is very simple - if the Cmme can stick Javier Perez de Cuellar on there for years and years and years, they can at least bed block with someone I genuinely admire. [Also I have an unsubstantiated by facts worry he's not got massively long left despite seeming fit.]

    Genesis P-Orridge

Genuinely in the last year I've had 3 recommendations to listen to his band off non-deadpoolers. Still haven't, mind you. But he's clearly got respect among sections of UK Music fandom. Obviously far more famous than Bill Gate's dad too.

    Willie Nelson

Yep, he's on the list. Probably not for too long.
  13. Fringey cert = Suzie Aries Mark Farren = Kieran O'Connor (misdirection) Guardian luvvie - Frank Bowling 12 pointer - Dawn Lee statesman - Tabare Vasquez (who is on the mend)
  14. msc

    Tom Smith

Captain of the Scottish rugby team at TWO World Cups, and pivotal in the Scottish side that won (!) the Six Nations (!) in the late 90s. I'd say he passes the fame level. And since he's on he has.
  15. msc

    Leon Spinks

Has spent most of December seriously ill in hospital. Has the old school feel of a pick dead by February or alive in 2021, no middle ground.
  16. msc

    Daniel arap Moi

Drol joined the Cmme I see. Could be a good pick.
  17. msc

    Tom Smith

If you heard him slurring on TV a few weeks ago you'd think he had weeks left tbh, not months.
  18. msc

    John Edrich

Oddest DL return in some time. This over Nicholas Parsons?
  19. msc

    Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Notorious RBG meets Notorious Pan Can meets Notorious DL top 40...
  20. msc

    Carl Reiner

Surprising DL pick tbh. Clearly the older US-centric celebs are an area the Cmme goes for nowadays.
  21. msc

    29. Joanne Woodward

Surprised Woodward made the DL, but this could be another of their "chuck a long term ill person on the list in the nick of time" type picks.
  22. msc

    15. Jean-Marie Le Pen

Reaper selected the crook, now he can go nab the fascist for DL.
  23. msc

    27. Sir David Attenborough

On the fucking DL at long last. Hopefully he likes the TV room and plans to stay a while...
