    Clive James

RIP Clive James. Always a good read, even when pushing a cause I disagreed with. Did bloody well to last this long.

    Theatre

Oh wow, that's a big one. Just Alan Bennett left now, I think, from Beyond the Fringe.

    Celebrity Chefs

Breaking news flash on BBC News seen live and 3 DLers still beat you to it! Surprising, though didn't he have some major accident in the 90s, I vaguely recall.

    FIFA World Cup Players

You sit through Switzerland vs Ukraine (World Cup 2006 last 16) too? Terrible, terrible game of football.

    The 100 Club

Boris Pahor more famous than I realised. He's getting a full 60 min documentary about his life on BBC1 on Wednesday night. The Man Who Saw Too Much.
  6. Only in his mid 70s now as he was quite young when he opened the restaurant iirc.
  7. Not going to lie, there's a vaguely notable person (they have done multiple TV things) with a far more famous other half, who "reading between the lines" seems to be on last legs. Curious to see how many people picked up on that one. Hey, I last updated my shortlists in August, this is my role now, casually teasing Rad and Joey into Google searches... (Although being honest, there was a name I saw earlier in the year that I thought was a dead cert Spade joker type pick, but the press seem to have got bored of them in the last 6 months, so their QO chances seem weak. LOL, right.)

Well I don't now with your track record for predictions!

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2020

Well Balbir Singh was still going on daily walks till 2017 so his body was likely more able to deal with illnesses than a couch potato with emphysema. (Also, I think the common link here with the rest is MONEY but should point out Singh was an amateur who worked full time as a policeman until retirement, so unlikely to have dictator or actor level money...) Every person reacts differently, and every persons body acts differently. Leah Bracknell got fraud claims on here, and yet her positive thinking/lots of weed kept her directly bang in the middle of normal stats. Mrs Msc's Grandad got given weeks to live 12 years ago, immediately relaxed and took to drinking and is still with us - still terminally ill, it just sort of stabilised sans treatment until the day it kills him. Meanwhile mountain of a man I know who got a BBC obit got liver cancer. You'd think long struggle and it took him out in 10 days! For all the medical care and treatment, life is very much a roll of the dice with luck. Jimmy Carter's peace is good to see but who knows how anyone will react in that sunset. This is it, there is no great beyond after imo and finality is such a concept to get a brain around. I suppose you never know how you'll take dying till its staring at you personally.

Here's a bit of Glasgow Zen from my grandfather (deceased): "Son, there's folk dying today that have never died before in their lives!"

Stairway To Heaven/ Highway To Hell

For folk with good music taste, am afraid Zal Cleminson (Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Nazareth) is not well. Two months ago he announced he was retiring from touring for a number of health reasons. He was due to have one more gig nearby here in Glasgow in a few weeks as his farewell. That has now been cancelled on health grounds too. Watch this space, I guess.

    British Science Fiction Series

Ian Cullen has reportedly died aged 75. One of the dwindling cast of The Aztecs, but in everything from When the Boat Comes In to Dalziel and Pascoe to Family flipping Affairs.

    Political Frailty

One of the more decent members of the New Labour government tbh.

    Jimmy Carter

In mid-1964, when he was clearly approaching the end and frail, friends used to ask Winston Churchill how he felt, and he described the sensation as being at the end of a long air flight, hanging around above the airport, waiting for the clearance to land and rest. Jimmy's now taxiing above the landing strip imo.

Missed this earlier, Maryport, but Paul Stephenson attended a lecture in his own name last November but was referred to being "Now in frail health".
