@Commtech Sio Bibble The legends thread is here.
  2. There was a new hour long interview with her on BBC2 earlier this week I sent @Gooseberry Crumble scrambling to go watch for his hero. From what I've seen so far (just the first 5 or so minutes) she seems in decent nick for her age, and given its an hour long interview with Louis fn Theroux, clearly still has stamina and patience. I see her as a DL regular eventually but yeah, she's seems fine for now, barring accidents.

    Time Added

The bt documentary had a gutted Roy Hodgson talking about how he missed his friend which was a real eye opener.

Another 2024 name drops too early.

    Doctor Who

The psychotic hamster stole the show. Light entertainment but I think I'd have loved that as a kid.

    Doctor Who

Most of episodes 4-7. The travel to the Daleks base was cut down to five minutes. Also the escape was edited so quickly as to lose all tension. It's difficult to cut 100 minutes off something which gained a reputation through its tense atmosphere! Hoping the experimental will transfer to some of the four parter Hartnell's which might work better in the 75 minute movie format. Or if they cut most of the missing episode, Web of Fear in colour? Yetis in the London Underground massacring everyone. Tenth Planet would be an obvious one of not for the missing episode! An unearthly child is Stef'd. Aztecs, War Machines, Enemy of the World also possibles with more sympathetic edits than The Daleks got!
  7. Yeah I think people's minds are made up.
  8. For the record the labour lead required for a minimal majority without any tactical voting whatsoever is 5.1%. I suspect there may be some tactical voting, let alone a slightly larger labour lead.

Thought he was still dating Shappi Khorsandi. Shows how much I keep up to date with gossip.
  10. An early Christmas present for all of us. No LadBaby this year. I'm already cheerier.

Who Should Be On The 2024 Deathlist

Gorbachev. Sorry force of habit. Davey Attenborough!!! Pope Francis, Roberta Flack, Patricia Routledge and Patrick Murray would be good additions.

    Thoughts on 2023 Deathlist

I think Jimmy is this years Bob Dole/Pele, who lingers most of the year but goes in December. History has shown that there's often a random old timer going at the end of the year. A Cardin, a Richard Adams, a Valery d'estaing and so on.

    Football Manager Sacking Bingo 3

There were articles about how Rangers wouldn't even concede all season let alone lose. It took little over 65 minutes for that to be wrong.

Authors Last A Long Time, But....

I wasn't a fan of what I tried but in fairness I am not the right audience for long winded romance novels!

Authors Last A Long Time, But....

Like many, I remember where I was when I read Possession. Sitting in a chair going "FFS, why are there still three hundred pages to go?"

    Shane MacGowan

That report says Spider Stacy, his old Pogues bandmate, has been to visit him now. Spider lives in New Orleans so if he's rushed off to Dublin now, that doesn't sound great news for Shane imo...

  21. Well that's the thing. The last Tory government, sure you had folk like Sean's cuddly uncle and co representing the sods but you also had folk like Major, Fowler, Forsyth, Tony Newton, people you knew were interested in improving the country or helping even if you disagreed with many of their priorities or politics in doing so. Newton is long gone now (actually his last public act was a speech in the Lords against David Cameron's welfare reforms, attached to an oxygen tank and dying soon after) but the other three will get cross the spectrum respect when they die. Who in the current government can we say the same of? Who isn't there solely to promote their own self interests? They are supposed to be public fucking servants. Not the grasping shower of bastards they are to a person.

Going back a bit but mum referenced how ill she thought Vincent Hanna looked around the 1997 election and was very sad when he died a few months later.

Still travels a lot but is 70 and a notorious insomniac. If he is ill he's not letting folk know. I've mentioned the gaunt TV look to his friends.
  24. Just to add, Carrington was one of those who warned that an issue with the Falklands was possible if we withdrew from the area, but the clique around Thatcher dismissed that as fear mongering. When the Invasion happened, Carrington was adamant that he needed to resign as the buck stopped at his office. Thatcher didn't want him to go. Meanwhile those whose ostrich position led to the Argentine invasion in the first place got away with it.
