    The 2019 Deathlist Cup

    Johnny Clegg

Apparently in that documentary The White Zulu showing in S Africa recently, Johnny Clegg now admits he is terminally ill and is "considerably weakened". Saw it looking up Midsummer picks, forgot to post, lost the url.

    The 2019 Deathlist Cup

Answered in the form of a question, Willz, you planning for Trebek and the Poker? Heh. And yes, it does. So that is 4 unique points for Bou. Look, I was joking about her name being on the Cup... Spade Cooley vs Banana 3-6 Boudicca vs Clorox 10-3

    Death Anniversary Thread

25 years ago, Mark McManus heard about his last murdur. That's Taggart for non-Scots. Used to live near ours, nice guy, but v.shy. Had a hard life - lost his wife, mum, and 3 siblings in the space of a year and basically gave up on life. Remember well the day of his funeral, the roads were mobbed with folk from all over the UK lining the streets of Govanhill! He'd have been dead chuffed... and somewhat mortified!

    Golf: The 19th Hole

Australian golfer and "genuine legend" (apparently) Peter Toogood has become Peter Notgoodenoughtoreach90.
  8. Me? One of these people will be the person who tries to take down Trump next year. Oh fuck.

    British Science Fiction Series

He was been warned several times and lost jobs before due to being a complete arse on social media, and promoting petitions designed to shame the BBC into less LGBT friendly coverage is a bit more than flippancy, so am afraid I have no sympathy. If he didn't have famous friends, he'd have had far less opportunities to stop acting the cunt.
  10. Damn straight, Sir Creep, just look at the BBC obit:

    Lennart Johansson

Hmm, another name from that long Christmas present list of mine. At a quick count I make that 19/200 gone so far.

    Political Frailty

I tell a lie, look who showed up. Whispering like a ghost and looking frail, as you said. I know he had cancer circa 2012.

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2020

Is now being used as theme tune for TV series What We Do in the Shadows (daft but enjoyable) as seen on BBC2 so yeah, 80 year old folkie Norma Tanega will get a QO as and when the dying day comes. Especially as not only did she write songs for Dusty Springfield, they were lovers (but not the woman You Don't Have to Say You Love Me is about). Quite catchy, actually
  14. Or... Although tbh, I found it hard to narrow down their 80s work.

    Political Frailty

Am curious to see who doesn't show up (ie no Nigel Lawson so far) in the 5 episodes. When are we getting the Harold Wilson multi-part doc, I wonder...

    Political Frailty

Incidentally, this new BBC 5 part Thatcher documentary. If you can stomach it (yes, we know who can and can't already), Episode 2 has a surprisingly well looking John Nott running down the first Cabinet and noting there's "only four of us breathing". Rogues gallery below: Pic 1 – Norman Lamont Pic 2 – Sean’s cuddly uncle Pic 3- A rather frail looking Shirley Williams Pic 4 – Jonathan Aitken, as seen on DDP inside 10 years Pic 5 – David Owen Pic 6 – Lord Gowrie who looked half-fucked Pic 7 – 85 year old Kenneth Baker. Will see his 90s imo. Pic 8 – Heseltine Pic 9 – Sir Norman Fowler Pic 10 – David Howell (b 1936) who looks like a current front bencher. Pic 11 – John Nott Pic 12 – Bernard Ingham

    Monty Python

He *needs* to be on the 2020 list if he makes it. Made my final 25 slots in consideration for the DDP, but I foolishly thought lack of forum traction meant his Drop 40 chances had dwindled.

    British Science Fiction Series

There was, and a "no-Dr Who TV SF" thread, but both got merged into this one iirc. There was also an Avon v Blake poll that you locked when Gareth died in 2016.

    The EU Referendum Hokey Cokey

I believe all of this was covered by election night and my "yeah, exactly..." In that list of folk like Cliff Richard I was surprised to learn are actually still in the closet, tbh.

    FIFA World Cup Players

Could be worse, could be Vaclav Drobny (death by bobsleigh) or 90s wasted talent Peter Dubovsky (death by selfie at waterfall before selfies were even invented)...

    The 2019 Deathlist Cup

https://www.legacy.com/funeral-homes/obituaries/name/nelson-stitt-ii-obituary?sid=107154659&v=forestlawn&pid=193039828 Mr. Nelson Alexander Stitt II Apr 4, 1983 - May 31, 2019 (Age 36) Los Angeles, California Died in May. Also, all this GMT talk confused me - we both know the Cup uses local time - remember your own Tania Dalton in 2017, dead in March NZ time, but February UK time. Anyhow, as we're talking rules not needed since 2017, Death Impends has reminded me you actually have 7 hours to put in a sub 11th player on your team, according to Rule 10.

    Larry King

Bit ominous for him, no? Remind me of Jerry Lewis in 2017, just a routine hospital trip then he was still in there months later.
