Is Alice back?

I think this come down to 2 things. 1. There are 3 topics DJL will reply to at length in most threads, but don't worry, Catholicism Scandals are due a comeback soon. 2. Most modern TV is shite so folk are mostly relying on the same old stuff. Or Netflix. Hence Who comes up a lot because beyond the geeks, randomers like LFN bring it up (because they fancy Jodie Whittaker). Killing Eve was great, Trust was reasonably good, and I quite liked Richard Osman's House of Games thing. Three recommendations from the last 12 months = a golden age, practically. Bah and humbug. Mind you, should have guessed when the writer apparently understood Ordeal better than Christie herself...

Shocking, innit, that one of the most popular British TV shows of all time (which it is, tbf) gets mentioned a lot on a predominantly British forum. Anyhow, started on Better Call Saul at last. 8 episodes in, far better than Breaking Bad. Probably because it focuses on Saul (Jimmy) and Mike, and has none of the annoying BB characters (most of the rest of them). In short from above, Resolution was shit, Black Mirror is shit, and I haven't seen ABC Murders yet, but I'm worried it might be shit. Anyone see Agatha and The Truth of Murder, the Channel 5 thing? That was shit. Death on the Tyne was... actually that was so stupid it was mildly entertaining.

Well Goodall was an academic, but yeah, I think yer right about the average age rule. Still, that should (hopefully!) ward off any arguments before they start. Well, ignoring the thing is hosted by a Glaswegian who can start an argument in an empty room...

DI suggested a clearing up of allowable supercentarians before a fight breaks out. So here's the exhaustive list of folk who are just really old, but allowed due to being one of the staple foods of historic deadpooling: Folk notable for things other than being old. Alexander Imich or that Sri Sri guy. The "oldest living X" - so Harry Patch, for example. But be sensible, this is not for the Oldest Living Farmer in Fuckity Cares, Texas. World's oldest top 20, verified. No 160 year old con men from Bolivia. Oldest 5 living men AND women from the UK and US. That should cover all the notables or press covered folk. As for what constitutes FFBI, ask yourself one question: are they notable for any reason other than illness? Not necessarily to yourself (look how many stars get "who?" responses on this forum!) but to anyone.

No worries.

Just from the DDP thread alone it looks like Trintignant, Blanco, Alagiah and Kerslake all have Drop 40 potential.
-
I know a pool starting in February! And yeah, I'll give this a shot, though I don't know much soaps so it'll likely be a team of June Brown and other oldies.
-
I think everyone on that list is A-ok, bar Monsanto Man. I forget who's on it. EDIT - Double checked. Yep, all fine. Bar Monsanto Man (Dewayne Johnson) and Dragon and Starr because dead. Vicky Phelan wont be accepted either.

Typical Mail. Connolly on TV - At my age, you know life is starting to slip away, you dont have long left, so enjoy it. Mail - Connolly: "I dont have long left!" Turn philosophical into click bait.

Proper famous French actor, despite not being in many English films. Star of Z, massive film in the late 60s that got nominated for buckets of Oscars/BAFTAs and won a bunch. And Amour, that French film few years back that made it big and got Emmanuelle Riva an Oscar nod right before she carked it. One of the few popular DDP picks this year my mum brings up in conversation unprompted too. She really likes The Conformist (early film by recently dead Bertolucci) and the Three Colours trilogy, which were big here too. Don't worry, I'd never heard of Alvin Stardust when he died, but he was proper famous too... PS He's also known over here for his daughter getting murdered by a pop star.

Sure. Though don't worry about the Byes yet, some likely players (Sean, Chorizo to name but 2) yet to show up.
-
Andrew Fairlie tweets a bit of the old Jenny Diski style there.
-
Ah, it's going to be one of those years.
-
Lucas Starr went before Christmas and got no obits at all. tbf while there's quite a few good tips in that list, I think most folk twigged if any of the "Stage IV cancer folk" mentioned had a hope of a QO, I'd have kept them quiet!
-
I know who loved it, and I have the pic to prove it:
-
We've never had a straight 16 or 32, Sir Creep. If we pass 32 (or dont even reach it tbh), Round 1 is a preliminary round, and the top X players (as needed) from 2018 get a BYE into Round 2. Which would almost certainly include you as the finalist.
-
Nice to see many newcomers and old faces returning so far. We couldn't do this without our reigning champ! (And nae worries...)

Rad trying to convince me folk actually care about Pan Breed for any form of pre-show analysis Fatima Ali - See above. Also Ewing's has a terrible prognosis, joker due to "eenie meanie..." No, seriously. Ricksen, Bassett, Fairlie, Blanco - You all know how fucked these folk are. Dame Carmen Callil - Been struggling with lung cancer for a while. Sold a bunch of her belongings in 2016. Still alive so maybe on mend, and v. private about health, but given age (82 this year) and that cancer, decided to take a chance. Also, I like to raise the fame and class of my team whenever possibly. Oh, and uniques. I like those. Denis Goldberg - drol's mate! Hah. Anti-apartheid activist, with lung cancer, allegedly of the terminal sort now. It was him or Tim Conway, and I went for Nelson's jail buddy instead. Jean Louis Trintignant, Johnny Clegg, Lee Kerslake - Varying degrees of fucked. Leah Bracknell - I still believe in her. Lots of lung cancer on this team! Andrew McGahan - Might be dead by time this goes up, weeks to live with dreaded pan can in November. I'm wary of his QO, but lots of folk I trust on these things on here say he'll nab one easily. Dr Bruce Reid - Surely someone else went for him? He's the Chief Medical guy at Essendon (big Aussie rules football club) who was in the news few years back for doping, when the entire team got suspended. Now, he's got mesothelioma, a much underrated cancer in deadpool circles. Almost certainly dead within 12 months, and the combo of sports, scandal and Australian surely mean Daily Mail. Now, surely he can't be worth 10 points, that'd be nuts. Billy Clayton - Musician from Norwich first on my radar in 2016 when he was FFBI, but he got better back then. And now he has an album out, I've heard it, not my cup of tea but still better than that XXXTenacion rubbish. Hah. Oh, and his cancer came back. Poor sod. Being championed by Charli XCX, who is apparently a massive deal right now, and had benefit gigs in his name in the US. And mostly recently, in hospital over Christmas due to intestinal blockage. Likely to be this years Thomas Fekete imo. Deborah James - Sun journalist. A stats based pick, checking her cancer against similar cases suggested January 2020 was her optimal survival, so 2019 seemed logical to pick her. The cancer has since spread and she reacted terribly to some of the trial medication she was on (as the regular stuff stopped working). Surprised not on more teams tbh. Vicky Phelan - Her off the news seemingly every night in the summer. I thought she'd be Drop 40! Oops. Could well survive 2019 but Stage IV cervical seems to be deadly going off past cases. Kerri Parker - Playboy model, brain cancer, alternative medicines. Riskiest pick, but again prognosis stats suggest that than going for Alagiah or Turnbull (sorry, year too early imo...) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho - I admit its a bit cheeky picking someone you cant even spell, but man was very noticeable in last week of the year. And is in his 40s, and has terminal cancer. A punts a punt for all that. Barry Du Bois - Again, thought everyone else would pick him. And thought Julian Fiano wont obit. More of a late year or 2020 death but impossible to say so early in the year. John McCririck - Not the sort of pick I pick. And then they die. Wetton, Winner, etc. So this year I am calling his bluff. Do your worst. Naturally, I think my team is awesome and will dominate, because its only January 2nd and I wouldn't have picked them otherwise!

Bit rude not to mention that a week ago, really.
