Hey, how many of you have come up with a tag line pun so bloody awful it got used on the DDP main site? Dr Zhiva-gone (it's down near the bottom) And when I say "came up with", I obviously mean "got there first ahead of everyone else going for the same crap line" which is quite unusual for me. -
Reports among his friends on social media that Scottish actor Peter Blake has died aged 69. Def one of those "not the name but know the face" types, appearing in (but not limited to) Dear John, Eastenders, Taggart, Jonathan Creek, The Professionals, Bergerac, A Very Peculiar Practice, City Lights and naturally the free episode of The Bill which came with an 1990s Equity card. I remember him best (though have seen him in nearly all of the above) as the dodgy talk show host who tries to help stitch up Alan in the Who Shot Alan B'starde New Statesman special. Here's his familiar unknown page. Also, I think I might have Blake Edwards'd him. Few days ago, looking through my notes, I saw a Peter Blake born in 1948. "The artist is in his 80s", I thought, and did a cursory search, presumed I'd mistaken the dead sailor as alive, and so deleted the name. Looking now, it was in a bunch of actors so made more sense it was this chap. Oops!

Yeah I saw a similar feeling to Denis Law that gcreptile has to Pele (ie he wont see 80). But then I said I'd be shocked if Ric Flair saw 70 and he's 7 months off proving me wrong, so who knows.

2017 doc - some of the interviews are rather earlier (see Hunt), I'd uploaded him chatting to youtube last year (see previous page) but the copyright police have taken it down. It'll be on Iplayer later but pic:

Unless they move him TO A BIGGER HOUSE HOSPICE! See, get one Simpsons reference, get another free...
-
Looking well on Marr today. Be a while before he troubles his inevitable spot on the Deathlist 50.
-
Simpsons joke! I know you (probably) knew but fuck it, bringing up the video anyway.

Brickhouse Brown went to a hospice where he was diagnosed as dead on arrival. They then transferred him to a better hospice, which upgraded his condition to alive.
-
Since no other fucker came back to this, here's his Telegraph obit (paywall etc but counts). Very obitable, but a bit dead now, for points.

Aye, s'why we're try to see my nonagenarian aunt as often as possible. Still got her marbles and active for now, but you can't take anything for granted when folk get to that age.

Something up with Nikolai Volkoff, apparently. Always reminds me of one of my favourite stupid wrestling lines, from Hacksaw Jim Duggan: "Nikolai, I'm not going to let you sing your song [Russian anthem] anymore, because this is THE LAND OF THE FREE!"

I think he's 97. Maybe that's why there are rumours floating around.

Christ, this is deadlier than being at WrestleMania VII or name checked on a Half Man Half Biscuit album. -
Between 17.40 and 18.10, as the Youtube BBC2 version cuts out on that days repeat of Steptoe and Son.

Ah, yer Avicii? I *think* Now 24 is the earliest without a dead artist. Forgot about one of the Sisters Sledge. I *think* Now 28 is the earliest without a dead artist. Also Paul Hester, drummer for Crowded House. -

This was the first tape I ever bought. Although their track listing is wrong because the Secada track was right before Jesus He Knows Me. Anyhow, it is what it is. -
Also, Rayo de Jalisco Sr, who you might recall from random lists of really old wrestlers, will no longer be appearing on those lists aged 85. Got into Big Davey Meltzer's HOF in the 90s.
-
Also, Timothy Dudley-Smith, former Bishop of Thetford and author of (the dirge) Tell Out My Soul, still with us, and 92 in a few months. Brian Wren (b. 1936) is alive too, but he was URC.

So Ray Davies is talking up reunion. I wonder which of Ray or Dave is terminally ill then...
