South Korea 0-3 Germany Mexico 1-1 Sweden Serbia 1-1 Brazil Switzerland 0-2 Costa Rica (The combo of scores which gives us Brazil v Germany II (ok, III if you must) and keeps the mental nutter Serbs in the Cup. Not in any great hope, though...)

Please do. *opens up 2019 shortlist*

Quite common, actually. Margaret Thatcher was friends with a number of Labour politicians in her private life, including of all people, Eric Heffer.

That article even says "first since the Notorious BIG". Recently mentioned Janis Joplin had a US number one in 1971 too (Me and Bobby McGhee), think it happens more often over there than here, even.

Some others like Joey Maggs and Al Green too. Though I can't mind if it was Al Green the dead wrestler, or Big Al from ECW who wrestled in WCW as Al Green at one point, but is still alive, who faced Goldberg on Nitro. Bloody WCW. EDIT - With Vader's death, the 1996/97/98 Rumbles stand as: 1996 - 25/30 left alive (and with Owen, Bulldog and Vader among the first 5, wrong fucking order, Reaper...) 1997 - 26/30 left alive (again - Owen, Bulldog, Vader and, err, Crush/Brian Adams) 1998 - 25/27 Guess on next to go: 1996 - One of the Squat Team 1997 - Mil Mascaras 1998 - Chainz feels like one of those "what ever happened to" death notices tba...

Read The Glory once. No my cup of tea as a writer, really.

Remember when Germany knocked England out of Euro 96, and the German team started singing Three Lions. 52 years of hurt doesn't scan so well, though. Anyhow, they'll no doubt lose to Japan or Senegal or Colombia. Rotten at Knockout football - 1 win in 15 years.

*checks thread creator* So, yer saying we should get our Brown obits ready? Noted.

Who? Details, ta.

Cathy MacPhail, one of those names whose books are always to be found in a local library, in a dire condition after severe stroke, apparently.

Two seconds on Google brings up her current publisher: Elizabeth Lemarchand was born in 1906. She became a teacher at The Godophin School in Salisbury. Her first book Death of an Old Girl was published in 1967. Elizabeth passed away in 2000 at the age of 94.

Slowly, with work, and 700 names to sort out. About 2/3 done now, though.

Aye, t'was I, though I struggled to find it myself: Anyhow, you know what they say about a) claiming remission 6 month after a 2 year prognosis b) experimental treatments c) "I totally beat cancer".

They had 3 UK Top 40 hits - Planet Caravan, the aforementioned I'm Broken, and Walk, which sticks in the mind mostly because of ECW. 14 years since Dimebag died? Blimey. I remember exactly where I was when I heard that news, though as I was having lunch with one of his old friends who'd spoken to him only 2 days previously, that's sort of a memory booster. It's a small world.

Worse for his rep, he was found proven of being John Leslie.

At what point does someone deserve their own thread?
msc replied to Spade_Cooley's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
For the record, most of us don't. If you see a new thread by a regular for someone who has just died, it's because the conversation has taken up a lot of posts elsewhere (usually on multiple threads) so the mods chuck it all together. See Bowie, David Gest, Alan Rickman, OK much of 2016 tbh...
