Doctor Who writer David Fisher has died aged 88. He wrote The Stones of Blood (nicely gothic), Androids of Tara (bloody brilliant imo), Creature from the Pit (less brilliant) and The Leisure Hive (big favourite with serious fans), all for the Tom Baker era. His drafts for A Gamble with Time were turned into City of Death by Douglas Adams. He also wrote the Hammer House of Horror episode Guardian of the Abyss, about the antiques dealer and the devil worshippers! He had been ill for some time in a care home, and had been on my long list since 2015, but you can never quite tell with these long term cases. But away from that, he was a writer with a great imagination, albeit one which a BBC Dr Who budget really struggled to work with, and he gave real wit to his characters. RIP.

Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread

As have the Mirror, Star, some Australian newspapers. Nearly everyone covering the story here except the Beeb (who didn't announce it). Hours rather than days then. PS The official Home and Away twitter has posted a "rest in peace" message. She's gone, they've just jumped the gun on announcing it by looks of it. -
Ah but you have your own forum achievement: 1. Bert 2. Spade 3. Chorizo 4. DDT 5. DI 6. Sir Creep (joint) 7. Drunkasaskunk 8. OoO 9. Toast 10. possibly Ali in 2007 or Banshees in 2009? The very short list of active Deathlisters who have led the DDP at any point! (Cue "you forgot me" within 5 posts...)

I can't speak for the major competitors, but I didn't pick her for the main team because I was burned on a similar pick last year, and the doctors sounded positive talking about "months of recovery ahead of her" at 1pm Hogmanay! My gut feeling at the time, which I successfully ignored, was that no one was surviving that crash, hence her appearance on my Deathrace team submitted on Boxing Day itself.

If this blind item were true, older A list country music star. That limits it to what? Kenny Rogers or Willie Nelson? Maybe Loretta Lynn, maybe. Dolly Parton doesn't strike me as an "older" music star quite yet, even if she is A list.

At Christmas gran had got in these lovely cheese and potato croquettes, which apparently came from M&S. Nearest one to us in town, and as you say their website is atrocious, so while I was tempted to actually go and check them out, I'm put off for the same reasons above. Also iirc they are fairly expensive by supermarket levels? Farmfoods is another which doesn't show their food on the website.

Jessica Falkholt has sadly died. I'm torn on this being a terrible tragedy or a relief that she'll never have to deal with life with her entire immediate family dead and apparently life changing injuries. Poor family. Anyhow, it is what it is, and that is Deathrace points.

First banker for the 2019 DDP then. -
At least six films either based on him or his life and a place in the Star Wars films. Truly the most famous somewhat obscure person ever.

Here it is.

I recognise a bunch of them from pro-wrestling deaths.

Awesome, thanks! Alas, I think Mary Wilson has a base of 4 points? As she's 102 this month. From what I read above, my B-team has folk likely to die but unlikely to obit, but if that latter happens, it's gold. However, Pan Breed has a bunch of folk less likely to die (? - Cappotelli, Frtes, Lewis) on your calculations and if they go... Shall be interesting to see, none the less! -

Just to say the thread got a bit side tracked (as if we'd go off topic on this forum!) but I am still interested to hear about this when you've got the time. -
She is at risk of the Curse of Frost. Back in 2013, she was interviewed by David Frost and looked in fine fettle. Last words of interview were Frost saying "See you again for your 90th!" He was dead within months, she has 5 years still to beat that jinx...

People used to pick 16 year olds (Grove) and they looked rather ghoulish, even for deadpoolers, imo.
-
So...HA caused by mixing too many painkillers recovering from surgery, basically?

Few years ago, this was just seen as a sign of getting old (in both males and females) - your brain powers start to wane, you act in ways you wouldn't in your prime. Difference between actions of a 95 year old and say, a 40 year old actor. If it's true in this case of course.
