Digital version Cas Willow death notice from the Hatches/Matches/Dispatches section of Australian newspaper.
-
A few days ago it was -24 in Calgary. (That's minus 11 in Farenheit!) The weather forecast has it improving to averages of -7 (19F) in the next week. That article says they were measuring -40 this week! PS King Penguins tend to be the ones which you find in places like the Falkland Islands (similar weather to Scotland), or the islands before Antarctica. So acclimatized to more "normal" cold weather (by North Canada/Europe or south South America averages) than extreme like Canada got this week.

Who, on the 2018 Death List, Would You Most Like to Meet?
msc replied to Davey Jones' Locker's topic in DeathList Forum
I have met a Deathlist miss in the past and he was a complete cunt. But given my ghost joke doesn't work yet, Olivia de Havilland, given she is basically living film history. -
There's also a news article referring to the death of *another* of the early same sex marriage people from last month, and references Willow without saying she is dead. Entire thing has an element of French farce about it now, can't help but laugh.

Ah cool - I have amended the OP to confirm! Nice team too.

I see the 2nd Twenty as more a place to put interesting people rather than game the system. It's not a serious team, as seen by the referee whose cancer is under control, the fraudster reality tv star, a whole bunch of sports stars who wont obit (due to lack of regional Beeb obits), a legendary game designer who sadly wont obit but I wanted to pick him anyway, my really old mascot, a serial killer so I can cheer if he dies, and a bunch of folk I don't actually think are going to die! The only two who will make Drop 40 are Ricksen (who would anyway), and Vervoort (who I have completely underestimated the interest level in...). Others may have had different Machiavellian ideas of course. I just see it as an extra wee bit of fun...

Pan Breed 2018 team in this pool. As usual, I panicked when some picks got turned down on notability issues, and just went for the first famous frail folk I could think of. Probably not a winning strategy! 1. Alcock, Paul (football referee) 2. Baker, Ginger (drummer, Cream) 3. Blanco, Kathleen (Governor of Louisiana) 4. Bracknell, Leah (Soap star) 5. Bush, George HW (former US President) 6. Cappotelli, Matt (former WWE wrestler) 7. Clegg, Johnny (South African musician) 8. Connery, Sean (Bond James Bond) 9. Cryne, Patrick (football owner) 10. Flair, Ric (pro-wrestler) 11. Franklin, Aretha (legendary singer) 12. Fujimori, Alberto (former leader of Peru) 13. Gilbert, Greg (British musician) 14. Greaves, Jimmy (footballer/TV star) 15. Mikhail Gorbachev (Russian statesman) 16. Hirono, Mazie (Senator, Hawaii) 17. Holm, Ian (Bilbo Baggins/Alien actor) 18. Hume, John (N Irish politician, Nobel Peace Prize winner) 19. Hurd, Douglas (former British Foreign/Home Secretary) 20. James, Clive (TV star/writer/general polymath) 21. Jose, Jose (singer) 22. Jowell, Tessa (British politician, former Cabinet member) 23. Kao, Charles K (Nobel Prize winner) 24. Lima, Devin (American lead singer of LFO) 25. Lorimer, Peter (footballer) 26. McCain, John (US politician) 27. Miller, Liam (footballer – Man Utd) 28. Miller, Zell (US politician) 29. Mortensen, Chris (US sportscaster) 30. Moss, Stirling (former F1 driver) 31. Newton-John, Olivia (singer/actress: Grease) 32. Rae, Charlotte (US actress) 33. Remigino, Lindy (US Gold medal Olympic athlete) 34. Ricksen, Fernando (Dutch international footballer) 35. Scales, Prunella (sitcom actress, Fawlty Towers) 36. Stefansson, Stefan Karl (children's TV entertainer, US/Europe) 37. Stiles, Nobby (World Cup winner) 38. Tsvangirai, Morgan (Zimbabwean statesman) 39. Wilson, Ray (World Cup winner) 40. Zeffirelli, Franco (Oscar nominated director, Romeo and Juliet)

I will be very surprised if Elias reaches the Drop 40. She's not had the wall to wall tabloid coverage here that inspires that extra pickings. Anyhow, those names you mention, 5 of 8 were old people, and of the Drop 40, 9 of the hits were old folk too! Remember there's about 30 people on here who play the DDP regularly. If each of them all picked the same cancer mum, she'd still fail to make the Drop 40. But let's see what the Drop 40 actually is.
-
In short, he is well known, but to a rather younger generation than nearly everyone on this forum and the Cmme!
-
Ah, that explains why I went to look for her as a hit in 2009 yesterday and didn't find her. Harsh luck.
-
Yes, far too early. We don't even know the Drop 40 yet. Also, remember that each year about 5-10 (roughly) known to be ill folk make the Drop 40 regardless - some with numbers well above the forum regulars - but it is always swamped with the famous old folk. Bush Sr, Oliva dH, Norden etc will probably all still be in high positions. Famous for Being Ill. Well, if you think 9 of my team are on the Drop 40, I would accept that. Highly unlikely though - McCain, Stiles, Brackers, Karl and Gilbert will, and I suspect Francis, Nolan and Miller might. Cryne, Elias, and especially Goodwin have no chance.
-
Oh that's right, the wife joins and gets immediately promoted over my head!
-
Ah, you mean 4-6 and so on (ie 2 hits each, but two are unique for the team on the right?). True, but as I iron out the Cup, things will sort out as they present themselves as issues. IF the new points system turns out to be more troublesome than the issues it fixes, I'll admit the error. I suspect uniques will still wind up being as crucial as last year, however. And yes, any issues throughout the tournament will be dealt with in the same "common sense way", though with an expanding of the time to get a sub in and increasing the qualifying obits, I hope that will see off most of them at the pass! As usual, you don't know till you're knee deep in quarterfinals everywhere!

The Rolling Probabilistic Ddp Scoreboard
msc replied to gcreptile's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
... Ever walked into a thread and felt like you've had a stroke or something? That's me. -
Well, three options: 1. It's a forum joke. 2. It's someone known to the admin. 3. It's someone you know under a new name.

If she goes she might be a 32 point joker. -
Well, it's still 1 point extra, but its part of standardizing the points system, so instead of 1-2-3, it's just 3 (as in the real game) plus a bonus point. I did consider jokers but I prefer it nice and simple.

Isn't she one of the loose women?

Hey, if it never ends, one of mine could be confirmed dead in 6 years time. Sweet dreams, Grim! Muhahahahahahahahahaahahahha (coughs).

Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread

Ah, now don't be daft, Mrs Doyle, sit down, I'll pay for this obit... -
Poor Chorizo must feel like I did that time I found a note to myself saying "Dont forget to add Thomas Fekete and Monty Brinson to your DDP team" on the 4th January...
-
Note to self: Fix draw so Grim and Joey face off in Round 1 for LOLs. Note to self: Don't tell anyone about this.
-
Well done Gcreptile!
-
I've been dwelling over it for a while, but I decided since I am so lenient and a whole host of folk were OK, then there's really no need for the... what, 5 picks out of 400 last time? Something along that ratio.

We could have a Fisher/Reynolds repeat.
