    Deathrace 2018

Aye, though at this rate, MPFC will come back to everyone singing Kumbaya with Leah Bracknell, and no one wants that! I'd assume...

Note to self - add more silly smiley faces in posts so people note lack of intended hostility... I thought that list was the perfect set up for a killer punch line myself!

    Deathrace 2018

On Cas Willow 1. I sent my Deathrace team on the 26th December, when she were breathing, and she only became joker when she was sub, having already been sub-sub joker (someone died right before sending) - so really, its just a remarkable string of bad luck that leaves me in the current position. 2. I don't believe private Facebooks are common knowledge spots, and if they are intended to become them for general deadpooling (ie folk picked up by major newspapers), then I'll lose interest. That seems rather ghoulish and beyond necessary for what is a bunch of fun. 3. My DDP team arrived AFTER that tweet, at which point I am unsure what the official decision will be (I assumed sub because, again, I did actually check social media before hand) - however, key point, whatever Spade chooses to do, I will accept his verdict with good graces. 4. I am quite happy to take points for Dudley AND Willow if Maryport decides under the Hewlett rule. It's what it's there for. 5. I am quite happy to support any decision Maryport takes, as the host of this deadpool. Their pool, their rules. 6. All this complaining about the rules is highly unseemly. Run your own deadpool. Some of you do. 7 PS on precedent, Spade got Deathrace points in 2013 on the Hewlett Rule for someone I knew was dead before Hogmanay. It wasn't in a public arena, just private social media. I call precedent. Hah. Can we no have a nice pleasant Deathrace without folk bitching about the rules?

    Derby Dead Pool 2018

Yeah, but there's different types of breast cancer stage IV and some are faster than others. Anyhow, Joey should be delighted given how shit I am at DDP prognosis, practically gift wrapping him 9 points.

Yeah, and it makes no sense to me. I didn't pick her either, and that makes no sense to me either! I mean, I read the bloody "it's in my lungs, bones and possibly brain now" article, told someone else to pick her based on that, and didn't pick her myself. Bah. Humbug.

    Derby Dead Pool 2018

I don't get the Linda/Bernie comparison for now. Linda's cancer hasn't spread yet but likely will at some point. Bernie's cancer had already spread to her lungs and bones by Christmas 2012.

This one? I note all the pics are taken from odd angles.

    Derby Dead Pool 2018

Ok, I'll join in. This is what I think of Rad Guy's picks. (DEAD in 2018 or not...) Brackers - She's not an outlier, an outlier is post-18 months and she still needs to reach March. She needs to reach December just to equal Errol Christie. DEAD Cryne - A case of months not years. DEAD Elias - I dont think shes a fraud. Remember Swayze, same age, lived 18 months in the same time period and Elias was diagnosed circa August 2016. DEAD Francis - Reading earlier news, the prognosis was 2-3 years WITH chemo. He's on chemo after long time off. Think that's shortened his prognosis, but 2018 is still a big call. ALIVE Gilbert - "Nothing can be done" since December 2016? Likely DEAD. Goodwin - Looks hellish, grim prognosis. DEAD with obit issues. Jose Jose - Err, that hospitalisation was for the flu, and he apparently got better? Pancreatic can come back any time, for now ALIVE Jowell - Looked like a ghost at Christmas, dire prognosis, DEAD Kumar - Really old but who knows. ALIVE Lima - Def dead by 2021 the year is the big issue. ALIVE but unsure. Lynott - Surprised still alive. DEAD within weeks io McCain - Grim prognosis, grim illness, DEAD Miller - Grim illness, if you saw MON in November you'd have thought Miller had weeks left, I say ALIVE on age but a really quick downturn wouldn't shock. Montt - I dont trust these picks. ALIVE Rae - Stats have her dead by Rumble time, she might last longer, but not as far as Christmas. DEAD Ricksen - Think you've gone too early here, he's still out and about, and only just passed 4 years. ALIVE but a top 2019 pick. Stefansson - Terminally ill with a low prognosis cancer, question is not if but when. DEAD (or he reaches 2 years and is a huge outlier) Stiles - All the news sounds ominous. I think he'll be DEAD. Vervoort - I was unsure she'd go for it (imo people who talk up suicide/euthanasia a lot are those who back away from it), but everyone else think she will so I am probably wrong. DEAD Zarin - Hard to tell with these reality people. ALIVE

    Shauns Death By Numbers 2017

    923 in total I think?

    Statistics

I forget the exact time, but on January 1st 2013, I dozed off about the usual time (3am after "new Deathlist chat", real life stuff, etc), I'm pretty sure I woke up around 10am, and Octopus of Odstock's DDP joker had already died in the intervening 7 hours! And it wasn't a Famous for Dying person too, it was a sports commentator (ok, on cricket but cricket is huge with English folk) and he'd seen some "CMJ is nearing the end" tweets at Christmas.

    Shauns Death By Numbers 2017

I'd have liked this post (for replying with the info) but it'd have felt a bit rude really in the circumstances! So thanks for the info!

Bottom name in the Drop 40 - Val Kilmer - was picked by 39 teams in 2017. Daisy Berkowitz by 36 teams. Almost certainly in the top 50. Lots of people going "well, this must be the year" or, like Gcreptile, using the stats for that type of cancer to make an educated guess.

Yep, Mr Creptile. GC Reptile is apparently correct. Hidden in plain sight...

    Shauns Death By Numbers 2017

Good point, Grim. @DevonDeathTrip and @CaptainChorizo - do you still remember your teams for Shauns Death by Numbers 2017? They're not on this thread and we need to know if you won or not. Otherwise, Gcreptile won. And if they don't, well, the man from Germany whose username I have apparently been mispronouncing for years has surely done it?

    Shauns Death By Numbers 2017

    I think Gcreptile won?

    Wrestlers/actors

I think that's roughly it. Most of the territory bosses who would be QO had other fames - ie the Funks in Amarillo. Maybe the Crocketts but I wouldn't bet on it. If someone like Bob Geigel (30 years running a big territory, one of the NWA bosses) can die sans obit in the last 3 years...

    Derby Dead Pool 2018

Not at all, nor the Crumbles or any other team. It's fairly easy to make a guess that someone with, say, Stage IV lung cancer, is likely going to die soon. That's a bit dull (not for the person of course). It's far more interesting to come up with a team of notable older folk, but also, nigh impossible to predict. Most of your teams could live another 5 years or go tomorrow! Anyhow, I wish you luck! Vervoort (drop 40), Cryne, Bracknell (drop 40), McCain (drop 40), Elias, Mary Wilson (alas), Frates, clive James (drop 40), Chivers, Moss, Stefansson (Drop 40), Jowell (Drop 40), Nevin, Remigino, Lewis, Cappotelli, Miller, Gilbert, Blanco, Goodwin, Stiles (drop 40), Rae, Lynott, Youngs, Toothill - it's an estimated floor rather than a prediction (ie if everyone we expect to go does go, you should get at least 120 points). The estimated ceiling comes from Gcreptile's wonderful maths which is somewhat beyond simple old me. This team, on paper, will be right up there too. Chorizo's team is full of gambles, which makes early predictions underestimate him. They came through in 2016 and he nearly won though, so a team to watch.

    Wrestlers/actors

He's been in poor health for a while going off forums last year (lung issues iirc?), but never got close to my shortlist because I don't think he has a hope in hell of sniffing a British obit, let alone a Qualifying one.

    Derby Dead Pool 2018

With a glance over the teams announced here so far, and with some big teams not announced yet, here's my immediate gut feeling for a DDP 2018 top 10 from the forum alone: 1. DDT c 158 points 2. DI c 157 3. Dead Cow c 150 4. Joey c. 144 5. Rad c. 138 6. Toast c. 130 7. Engineer c. 124 8. Gcreptile c. 122 9. Eesti c 120 10. Sean c 112 So, if Cow isn't really a dark horse now (2nd in 2017), I guess Joey is your potential break out star if the cards all fall correctly. I like Toast's team though, that's a floor of circa 130 if only the people expected to die do ie Vervoort, Stiles, Srefansson, Miller, McCain, Jowell, James, Gilbert, Elias and Brackers. If Newton-John or Nolan's cancers spread, or Ricksen goes downhill quicker than I expect, or the likes of Herd and Greaves, that is a team with a right potential to crack the top 5, imo. Last year I did think Spade would run away with the DDP at this point but on retrospect: Sometimes, I accidentally see the bigger picture!
  24. " well, most of you - some of you are twats" I also love the bit about "haven't they grown" - wouldn't believe how often that comes up. It's boggling. I laughed at least three times, and I am a Scrooge. Please write more.
  25. Nowhere close, I'm afraid, but that's really the last of these for now. There's 600 people on the list!
