My word of advice would be not to craft a team with the hope of winning (ie to make that the sole pleasure of the game), because the Deathrace, being over such a small period of time, tends to wind up rather random. You can mitigate the factors but there's no getting round the vagaries of death sometimes! Imo, of course.

The rule change is a mere tweak: a successful hit will now be worth 3 points, not 2. Unique hits will still bring you a bonus point, so 4 points. Famous Only For Dying, which will have the same definition as last year (ie, if they had fame for anything no matter how obscure pre-illness, they dont qualify for this) will give you 1 point AND Famous Only for Dying picks WILL NOT be eligible for the unique bonus. So your Lisa Magills and Shameless picks can only give a competitor 1 point, whereas all the folk with some form of notoriety bring 3 or 4 points. But anyhow, that's for a thread at some point in mid-January.

The criteria is 100% whatever the Cmme of the day thinks it is. And because the Cmme has floating membership (people seem to appear in and out per year, Grim being one of the few constants?) that standard changes every now and again. Possibly Edrich. And he's still alive!

Ok, a wee bit of stat excitement, since you insist... I can confirm that our current number one has equaled the all time record for points (Zsa Zsa in December 2015), and that a single point from any of the remaining lists will put them out in front. It's a name you all know very well. Number 2 (currently around 3) has nearly 350 more points than in 2017, and is less than 20 points behind First Place. As for Number 3, I'm pretty confident if I gave everyone a guess, they'd complete fail to get it. I'd be almost tempted to add them to my shortlist, only they've been on it for a considerable while.

Thought that was remarkable timing for Maryport for a minute there.

Amusingly I appear to have done a Gcreptile 2016: the combined score from Pan Breed and the Reserves would have had me near the top with better judgement on the one team!
