Christian Institute puts up the first obit for Blamires.
-
Iommi is OK for now but in cheery mood:
-
Avakian is dead. NY Times obit. Was still talking to journalists last month so rapid decline or went in his sleep, I guess. PS Damn I was looking at an interview earlier that said he was doing well from October 2017, but I can't find it now, and it's been swamped from google by news of his death.

Watching the BBC documentary about Queenie and Philip's 70th wedding anniversary. Interview in it with the 97 year old Commodore Keith Evans. Served on the Hood, various war service, but also confidante in the 30s/40s to Philip, and apparently one of the only people to know he planned to ask (not yet Queenie) Libby to marry him ahead of time. Lucid speaker and looks good for his advanced age, but a cert Telegraph obit when he goes. Pic with his old buddy from earlier this year.

Bowel obstruction which led to multiple organ failure but specifically kidney failure. He was expected to die, but hung in there, operated on, and can make public appearances again, but looks a lot frailer. Doctors say one more drink could kill him. PS He's an alcoholic, always has been, but when his son died in 2013, he jumped right off the wagon in spectacular fashion. Also bipolar and self-medicates with booze. Wont die tomorrow, but 70 (February 25th 2019) is going to be a standing ovation achievement imo.

That's what TMIB did the year I forgot to name a joker!

Aguirre Wrath of God the Herzog with the infamous line (badly paraphrased/remembered here) "Flying death sticks back in fashion"? Killed me when I saw it way back. I've really screwed that up as it's not showing up in Google. Guy gets hit by an arrow, quips, dies. -
Same article refers to her talking about "being diagnosed a year ago" in September. Daily Mail line editing for you.
-
Aye, far more infrastructure planning goes into those posts than the namesake put into city planning in the 80s, or summat.
-
It is possible the only person upset about Adric dying was Young Willz though, tbh.
-
It stopped being fun, Doctor... Yes, because Adric dying, her aunt dying, possession by snake, and watching a galaxy explode earlier were just a bundle of laughs.
-
He also directed Attack of the Cybermen. I'm not convinced.
-
On the flipside, something truly wrong with a story when actors like Bewes and the late Maurice Colborne, who could usually be relied on to be decent at least, seem so disinterested and one note.
-
Aye. Case in point. Graham Harper directed Androzani and Revelation, not been out of work since, trained up a lot of the new directors on TV, and is massively respected as one of the best in his business. Matthew Robinson (Resurrection director) carried on directing for a bit, but wound up as a casting producer (for Eastenders and Byker Grove), introducing the world to Ant and Dec. Hmm, perhaps that Dalek story wasn't his biggest crime after all.
-
My opinion of Resurrection remains fairly constant: it's shite. I do like Earthshock (Beryl Reid is great in it), and Revelation of the Daleks though. Think Saward needed a sympathetic director to stop his world view completely contrasting with the show.
-
Yep, I believe so. I once went to count it to test this out, and lost count after 40 or 50 onscreen deaths.
-
And he didn't even make the one criminal error of Seselj and Karadzic - admitting all their plans in the Death of Yugoslavia documentary series in the 90s.
-
Hey, if he stops taking his medication now, he can be the Joe Paterno of 2018!
-
A good anniversary for a sudden downturn in Geldof's health then?
-
See, Joey, this is where I'd have every right to use the Clive Dunn emoticon (posting the news in the correct thread an hour ago), but restraint is key.

Posted in the entirely wrong place: Obit was never a worry. State of illness last December was. Still, these things happen. Like Sharon Jones.
-
^ Could have been worse if Liverpool hadn't suddenly decided to score from corners! Had much the same issue with Thistle and Rangers, mind you. Of course, Rangers died, but then they've been trying to do an unconvincing Dracula impression for the last few years, and they still get all the contentious ref decisions/fluke deflected injury time winners etc etc.
-
9 point boost to Gcreptile in the DDP. A bit like the Sharon Jones of 2017. Someone involved in music, not many went for them, perhaps distrusting the extent of the illness , and just as folk might reconsider them with new news in August/September, they snuff it in November.

So anyone else see Liverpool's capitulation last night? I assume TMIB wont forget it in a hurry. Anyhow, Sevilla came from 0-3 down to draw in the second half. What was the Sevilla manager, Eduardo Berizzo's stirring half time team talk? Announcing his diagnosis with malignant adenocarcinoma, that's what.
