Joe DiMaggio saw his own Deathlist.net obituary and was so shocked, he died. I might have made that up.

Fair enough. Anyhow, he's quite famous. So famous, my wife's heard of him, and she doesn't follow sports at all.

I thought Madden was more sort of Des Lynam? I don't know, or that he was a coach, in fact. Any retired 2 time Superbowl winners that younger folk would recognise as a pundit?

Which of these religious heavyweights will go first?

Carey, for the hell of it. -
It was an interesting episode. Pfau took on illnesses and tried to help folk, Gordon wrote books which apparently are much more admired than the Carry On series, Rao was all about Indian space research, and Dr G's bit taught me about aboriginal death culture I'd never even heard of. All far more interesting than 10 mins of BBC pop culture icon anecdotes I'd heard many times before.

Hey, if there's a North American musician announced on here and Phantom hasn't heard of them I'm convinced they've been made up. Chap knows everyone on that scene. Whereas I've only ever met one Deathlist alumnus* in my life, and he was a complete cunt. *see, Toast? I did listen!

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis

You know, I was wonder how to phrase that as a question last night, but gave up. Trust LFN to go diving in there. 99.9% chance there'll be other women, who drive him madder with mutual passion, to the point he forgets all about this youthful crush, so that whenever they bump into each other, it's as friends and he'll wonder if he ever was that mad for her in the first place. Err, or so I hear. Either that, or he'll turn gay, become a monk, or get run over by a bus. That's life for you. -
British footballer. Two time league winner, then lengthy career as a TV sports pundit. Very well known here. Last time you asked I couldn't think of a US equivalent and I still can't because I don't watch NFL. Also, he is nearly 80 and has/had Stage IV bowel cancer, though he sod all seems to update the press about it. Statistics say he's fecked before long, though.

If the dad is dying, is it really sad last days?

Doddy has always looked bloody ancient. He looked middle aged in his 50s. And yet, his encores are still going near midnight, or so I hear. More energy than I'll ever have.

Well, hard to say with much of the plot missing here but... were you perhaps subconsciously worried the friendship with your (ex?) was on the ropes, and that they bothered to get back in touch means otherwise? That's my best answer at 1am with so many missing jigsaw pieces. -
I went for Tarbuck. Doddy and Norden are good fun, and O'Connor appeals to some folk. Reminded of the journo who asked Norden what he thought about hosting Alright on the Night for 29 years and he replied "When I started out, I didn't think TV would run for 29 years, let alone a show."

Yep, but he wound up on the List of the Lost on Compost Corner's team, not mine.

Damn you, Widows Peak!!!!!!!!! I mean, Well Done old chap.

Good idea. Hey in line with a comment earlier in the thread, I was going to read JP de Cuellar's memoirs and reveal 10 Fascinating Facts about the guy from it. However, the library don't have a copy. Well, the thought that counts, and all that jazz...

I was going to put this guy on my DDP Reserves team, to test how far Daily Mail obits would go for obscure US politicos. He ruined it by dying in December and not getting the obit. Spoilsport.

Drop 40 bonus for sure...

Jokes aside, Drol does have a good lead at this point.

The One Show is axed for tonight, replaced by tribute show. Even in death, he brings happiness.

Always steal from the best, I say.

Gone for Downie.

Bit ironic DDT being Italy there, no?

I don't know snooker, but if I said Djokovic to Nadal/Federer, or, uhm... can't think of a football equivalent off the top of my head to presumably keep the analogy accurate.

Blimey - Gregory's alive? For now, anyhow.
