The Hewlett rule is for people believed alive at competition start but discovered dead before the start after. It's named after a chap whom Maryport and DDT had in the 2010 DDP, only for it to later be discovered he died in December 2009 ages later. Far as I can see, this fits the rule to a T, but of course it would happen when MPFC is out having a life.

Hah. I like to back up the point being made. The actually running of the tournament has pointed out stuff I didn't even think of at the time, which will need to be enshrined in the rules for next time. Like the above precedent, and the fixing of the Unique FFBI non-disincentive.

When Pat Nixon died, there was a lot of rather ghoulish footage of the frail Richard Nixon bawling his eyes out at her funeral. Quote the commentator, "He wont last a year". He didn't, he was gone within ten months.
-
Somehow you managed to post that near enough exactly as I did (5 seconds either way). Spooky!

So, earlier in this tournament, I made the precedent that sub changes can only happen in the first 24 hours of a month. This effected Spade and Gcreptile in previous rounds by putting them a man down, though they both won the ties in question iirc. Rumblings elsewhere that Torr actually died on May 31st, and it's the 2nd now. Watch this space, I guess.

Yeah, unless there was knowledge Diane Torr was dead pre-June, and I don't think there was, as DI wouldn't have had her in his Deathlist Cup team.

Hewlett Rule?

" One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back. " Lewis Carroll wasn't talking about Jabberwocks of course. He was comparing how quickly the Bush couple became Deathlist hits together in late 2017/2018.

Like a Rhinestone Time Lord.

Didn't she have pneumonia a few months back? And she is in her 90s.

Consensus is dull. Someone should pick...Helena Bonham Carter for the LOLs.

Unless death or forum bans fell me, I shall.

Binary choice, other option is Theresa May. Simple. (She's still winning a landslide.)

Short of him dying, re-election landslide in 2020, imo. I also expect the Republicans to reach the "filibuster proof majority" in 2018 in the Senate.

Hey, think on the bright side. When the Mississippi turns into a small inland sea, it'll wipe out a whole bunch of Republican voting states...

Depends on the pay. I mean, you can say anything and never need to actually act on it, and get a fairly big TV presence. Cushy job. Charlie Kennedy showed you could do the job entirely pissed out your tiny and gain seats. Barring a 2010 disaster where you actually need to go into government, it would take a complete useless fuckwit to screw it up. -
Speaking of that, am I the only person who keeps forgetting Norman Kember actually got freed? Keep thinking he got bumped off with the rest of them, only to discover he's still going. I even had him on a deadpool once and still forget. Mind's the first to go.

Timmy Time Farron is proof positive that even you and I could become Lib Dem leader if every single credible challenger gets voted out of parliament first. -
If you can get beyond the highly pretentious article, there are "read between the lines moments" in this Evening Times piece. There's also rumblings on the street that his cancer is back. Think he confirmed it at CiN. Anyhow, one to watch more than in 2013.

Perhaps 30 people per team in 2017 if you want more hits, and let the 20/20 games run themselves? I liked it when it was 50 (made it rather unique, as DDT said) but you clearly can't run that AND... 15 other pools simultaneously? This is why I only run the Deathlist Cup, and I was wary about starting that up. Crowdsourced Deathlist too, but that doesn't really count.

Death by Numbers is quite good, though. The Georgian/Elizabeth/Freddie Starr/Barbershop Quartet ones are bit overly involving for my limited free time.

Update: not dead. The Hip are backing medicinal weed, but wont say if its related to Downies health. In fairness, the Howard Marks Diet might have added a month or so to Marks lifespan. In other news, his charity fundraiser has now raised $174k.

When the Caledonian burned down in 1849, there were still voices that it were an Act of God. Not sure why their God hated Shakespeare. Must have been a school kid with a crap English teacher.
