However, don't knock the impact of the Innuendo album. Perhaps fuelled by Freddie concern (it was an open secret he was very sick by 1991), but also by it being a great album, well received, it was one of their fastest selling albums since Greatest Hits a decade previously, and the singles out of it had done remarkably well for Queen in that time period. Even the contemporary music press, who hated Queen, mostly said it was a good album and good song. So yeah, TATDOOL would have topped the chart regardless of "thunderbolt and lightning" additions - public approval of that album's singles, and the post-death Freddie Mania (which continued for years - Freddie has a number one in 1993, despite being dead for 2 years) would have sealed the deal. Also, as your grumpy Scot, I use the word "beautiful" about once a century. That is a beautiful song, almost a threnody on acceptance at the bitter end.
