    Derby Dead Pool 2017

In other news, my pick Colin Butts (writer) appears to be crowdfunding for the old fashioned "cure Stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer in one fell swoop" surgery everyone wants these days.
  2. Oh let Ferrer have that moment, John Hurt's legacy stands by itself.

    Derby Dead Pool 2017

There's also more DDP teams though! We're really talking about 7% of hits in 2016, and...somewhere around 0.8% of all picks that year.

    Derby Dead Pool 2017

Picks like her have been around since before I were deadpooling. Bit late to say they destroy the game now, 21 years after Baby P, 18 years since the first Famous for Dying/Fringes of Fames cases, 17 years since the first "tragic young woman with a modicum of fame" (the Joey Feek if you will), 10 years since No Noose and 16 year olds, and 9 years since coma victims. Anyhow, will there be a "next year" in the DDP anyway?
  5. So, the UUP leader Mike Nesbitt said he would transfer his vote (STV system) to the SDLP in the N Ireland election. Apparently a fair few Ulster Unionists followed his advice. Result? The SDLP have nabbed some shock results from the Unionist parties, the UUP are down to 10 MLAs, their leader has had to resign, and the main Unionist parties (the DUP/UUP/etc) have lost the overall Stormont majority... Not entirely sure he thought this idea through, to be honest!

    Nobel Prize In Death

Err, to be honest, I only joined because I used to post as a guest and one of the regulars suggested guests should sign up or else! A search suggests it was The Man in Black, and that my first post wasn't a list! I know, I must have been under the weather... Also don't take my snark as a put down - as a fan of the Adams, I appreciate that this forum can contain life, the universe and everything...

Deathlist Forums - come for the dead celebs, stay for the philosophy discussions...
  8. I'd just like to note given the above that if Labour lose Glasgow in 2 months, it'll have nothing to do with Mr Corbyn, and everything to do with the city council.

    Bruce Forsyth

Sallis, I'd be surprised if we hear another thing about till an obit. Retired, 96, not in the best of health, doesn't do public appearances now, etc.

That guess would be correct to the tune of 100%. Kaufman, naturally.

Completely forgot to make a prediction this week. Would have been 1/5 anyhow!

I wish him a speedy recovery, however... (He's on Bert's DDP team.)

    The Deathlist Cup

O dear? Plenty of time left. You make up for not many uniques with a number of tottering terminals, and March does have a reputation for being a fairly active DDP month.

    The Deathlist Cup

That's one of my thoughts, but it would be unfair to change the rules mid-competition. That, and a Jimmy Hill style re-jigging of the points system. Still, we live and learn. Or not, in the case of Mr Simmons.

    The Deathlist Cup

Chase Simmons, a soldier famous for being in a coma, has died. Certainly famous only for dying, yet also a unique pick, so gets 2 points for Gcreptile. Something I am rapidly realising isn't much of a disincentive to pick Famous for Being Ill picks! I'll fix that if there's a 2nd Deathlist Cup... Rad’s Die-monds in the Sky (Rad Guy) vs Bibliogryphon 0-0 The Dead Cow vs Tommy J’s Eleven to Heaven – Or Elsewhere for Nevin (Death Impends) 2-2 Heef vs Death Comes to Wembley (Garn2) 2-0 Maryportfuncity vs 101 Great Practical Jokes with Luciano Re Cecconi (Spade Cooley) 0-2 Captain Chorizo vs The GUN’11 (Grim Up North) 0-0 The Cooler Name (Switch) vs DDT 0-2 Deadsox vs Pedro67 0-0 Rover’s Rovers (Roverandout) vs “O” (gcreptile) 0-4

    The Deathlist Cup

That doesn't, as there's no reference to him being dead written down. Yeah, I know, it's fairly obvious but you know, the QO restrictions ARE fairly lenient. As shown by this being a QO! It also notes, at time of reading, that he died on 2nd March. Points to be updated imminently...

    David Prowse

That'd have worked better imo: Vader being a normal bank clerk looking chap who wore the mask to inspire fear.

Well that's two big European footballers in 2 days. The aged in football who believe in the Rule of Three will be getting nervous.

    Bruce Forsyth

Many of these follow the same pattern. Thread started when person is active and fine, one big health issue, radio silence or no public appearances for ages, then lots of small health issues building to a crescendo. Forsyth's in the latter part, and he never struck me as someone who'd last all that long without TV audiences, or knowing said audiences were definitely gone for good.

I thought he hadn't posted for a while.
  21. Had an idea for a deadpool, but I don't have the time to run it. (The Deathlist Cup and updating TCD are my limit.) So in the spirit of sharing, I'll mention how it'd work here, and if anyone else likes it enough to want to run it at some point, they have my full blessing The Chase Concept: deadpoolers start on 0 points, and chase down a Control Figure which starts on 100 points. The first deadpooler to overtake the Control wins. Rules: 20 celebs to a team, DDP rules for scoring and obits count with 2 differences: Differences from the DDP: A successful hit can be replaced by a living person, 24 hours after they appear on the scoreboard as a successful hit. A miss (ie a death sans Qualifying Obit) can be replaced after a week. Therefore each Chasing Team should have 20 people on their team most of the time. A change from the DDP would see Only Famous for Dying Cases (to be determined by the Game Organiser) only scoring 3 points maximum, instead of whatever they would for their age under DDP rules. They'd also be banned as joker material. Each Sunday evening, the Control moves 10 points further ahead. So it is a chase rather than hunt the static target. I did think 50 points, but most folk on here could smash that inside a month these days, seemingly.

I was wondering if this would be worth it's own thread for casual checking/bragging rights, but I'm rather phobic of starting threads, so I'll just put it here. By-Election Bingo

I believe I've mentioned it before? Last Tory MP to die in office was Eric Forth in 2006. This is a by-product of the 1997 landslide, it wiped out a whole lot of the old Tory guard and they've been replaced by Blairite/Thatcherite 40 year old clones.

    The Hartlepool Deadlypool

Missed this a few days ago, but glad to see it: rapidly becoming one of the forum deadpoolers who adds to the quality of any given deadpool game, imo. I wish you well in the hunt for 2nd place.
