If it's a good precedent to go by, John Wetton did that quite a few times before he died - stopped tweeting when in hospital receiving treatment for a few weeks, then started again when able to do so. His last tweet was 17 days before his death. There's another big DDP name who has been conspicuous by their social media absence, I noted the other day, but, I've completely forgotten who it was now. Magill? Looking back, it was Errol Christie, who's semi-regular Facebook posts in 2016 appeared to have translated into nothing this year. Although I now see there's at least one January post which was hidden down the page.

Political Discussions And Ranting Thread
msc replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
He should stay. On a sad sod level, he's quite good at backbencher involvement in parliament, and you just have to look at his predecessor to find how shit some speakers can be at doing anything remotely like that. On a less thoughtful level, he annoys the crap of various folk I don't like, so more power to him! As per Trump, he was right to be able to make the point (it's within his remit) but probably not saying it for public effect like he did. Which I believe was Lord Fowler's general point on the matter. -
Well done and good luck, DI.

Possibly... Holding off congrates till official announcement though.

??? Rapist pig? Could you elaborate? They mean Natalie Wood. Unproven, of course.

Don't particularly see her as one for this year, but she's going to be like Thora Hird - when she does goes, it's going to be very quick.

Whom Are You Tarring With The Epithet "twunt"?
msc replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Well done, DI. 2000 posts in a decade when some rake up 2000 in a few months - a prime example of quality over quantity imo. Though do post more anyhow! -
A WIkipedia editor once deleted a section of a Wiki which cited me as the source, saying it was an "atrocious source". Still proud.

Yeah, but does that for a qualifying obit? The QO comes along later, it's just advanced warning. PS Obviously not when he's doing his "I've never heard of Drew Carey but, maybe he has pancreatic cancer?" trick...

DDT moonlights as the Reaper, his word alone is often good enough for me.

Neat idea, but I'd prefer to keep the game as simple as possible.

When this very article was brought up elsewhere, those in the know mentioned how difficult selection battles can be to replace long term MPs. Decades to build up grudges, you see. Doesn't appear to be a kept secret that Kaufman is seriously ill now.

The Rolling Probabilistic Ddp Scoreboard
msc replied to gcreptile's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Well, Skellern is on all the contenders teams, so it would be really useful to my chances if he was exaggerating his health issues! Lakovic and Butts on the other hand are scarce, so I could do with them both getting QOs. -
The Rolling Probabilistic Ddp Scoreboard
msc replied to gcreptile's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Once again, all the "contenders" are connected through a canon of about 20 people all picked by at least half of them. GS is pretty much in the middle of this web, so yes, it's the "outstanding" picks that need to come through for the others. I wonder where the two-point differential is coming from, as I have you both at max. 214pts. Maybe Jagraj Singh? It was hard to me to find his age, I think it was 28 or 29. Though I guess he's older? He's in his 30s. Started secondary in 1990 according to Linkedin. -
I was just looking up this, and apparently Alan Archibald is now the third longest current serving manager in the Scottish leagues. Blimey.

Took me longer than I'll admit to twig who the fuck "Warbiola" was. They can bring back Paul Le Guen.

Ellen Datlow tweeting the death of FSF author Edward Bryant.

The bonus balls drop.

It would do, if enough contributors followed the DL rule of retaining 25 from the current DL. I did this time, but next time will use 25 from my own list, so there will likely be less overlap. We retained 25 from the 2016 TCD instead - independent route! I thought we were going to have no carryover until I sat down and counted it all on Hogmanay.

Akihito? Told he can abdicate in January 2019, I think I heard? Sounds like them expecting/hoping he'll be dead by then anyway, so they don't have to actually allow an abdication. If we got the forum users to write the list instead of the committee. Technically we do. The committee are forum users, just the rest of us grown up around them. Although the Crowdsourced Deathlist tends to find substantial crossover between Committee think and Forum think...

Well, I think Kirk Douglas, Vera Lynn, Lord Carrington, Peter Sallis, Pierre Cardin, Olivia de Havilland, Herman Wouk, tony Booth, Leah Bracknell, Gord Downie, Leslie Philips, Javier Perez de Cuellar, King Michael, Nobby Stiles, Jill Gascoine, George Bush Sr, Ian St John, David Rockefeller, Sandy Gall, Pope Emeritus, Bruce Forsyth, Fats Domino, Hosni Mubarak, Akihito, Glen Campbell, John Noakes, Liz Dawn, Valerie Harper, Errol Christie and Ian Brady will die this year. Thus giving us a score of...32/50, apparently. Slight exaggeration to make the point!

Who Do You Consider "famous For Being Ill"?
msc replied to msc's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
David Gooderson He's been in shitloads of stuff. tbh I thought Biblio was backing up my point about folk who weren't household names but still well known or respected within their fields ie Ms Elias, Mr Van Zandvliet and so on... -
Well, that's a complete surprise line up. Who could have seen that coming? Rocky, I've set up the open goal for you here...

No, none of them should be gotten rid of...
