[pedantry] FTFY [/pedantry] Alumni is plural. Or should that be "are plural"? Damn. I missed this post at the time, but actually, this is one which had escaped my notice and I thank you for bringing it to my attention. (There is no sarcasm in this post, even if it reads that way! This is why any writer who says "I don't need editors" is a bloody fool, incidentally...)
-
I doubt his status as a DL alumnus had any bearing on his obitability tbh. We're surely not that influential! I meant them picking him had led me to believe he was far more famous than he apparently was.
-
Wont see the Rumble, imo. According to social media, now blind and spending most of the day sleeping. Going off precedent, I still think the Rumble (29th) is a tough ask. Sam Simon lasted till the first week of March from this point.
-
He didn't get a QO too, iirc, which given his status as a Deathlist alumni, astounded me.
-
Wolfie started well in the BDO World Championship Quarterfinals, 3-0 up, but let his opponent back into the match and wound up losing 5-4. I wonder if he'll take the same long term approach to fighting cancer.

Given this race will be over in a few hours, I'll say - that Winnie the Pooh gif was far, far more accurate about my chances than I'd considered!

Oh, I think he's here. ReticulatedTampon is my guess, not on members list, greyed out profile, yet wanders the forum this week.... Checked my profile at 6 one morning, they a visitor at half four. First thought 'validating' but you can click on those. Banned next thought, but at that time with no posts? Naaah. Plus was on that night. Its some cunt with the buttons, and Hein most likely... Saw they'd visited my profile, greyed out as you say. On a whim went to PM, found them on the PM directory, but decided sending a "Are you Magere Hein?" PM was a bit rude. Did the member search in the search engine (instead of topic) and a non greyed one came up, but on clicking it: "This member is no longer active." I'd say it was curious but to be honest I'm not that fussed.

Not much gets past you, hey? gay? You missed out the r, his name's Gray. Ah, he's probably still wondering why he can't find Joey Freak on Spotify...

Schmitt, allowing video packages to use that one clip for both him and Cernan.

Possibly. One of my great uncles basically spent the last three years of his life either having strokes or recovering from them, and eventually they killed him but he was a shell of a man by then.

The Rolling Probabilistic Ddp Scoreboard
msc replied to gcreptile's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Jethro Tull beat Metallica to a grammy in 1989, that's genuinely one of the only things I know about them. There was a very obvious pick which makes me queasy in the first DDP ever, clearly OK'd by the DDP's founder. I believe - could be wrong - it was OoO or TMIB who banned those sorts of picks, and a good decision too. -

Depends what you mean. Toast has long held views (which I respect, though clearly by choice of my picks disagree with) on fame requirements for deadpools, also she didn't pick Joey Feek on those grounds either. Spade is talking solely in QO grounds. I was talking about a QO teenager, not a cancer mum. In general, I like to refer to the tipping point as "active v passive" ie "I have cancer and here is what I'm doing" (Dr Kate, Dr Mark, Rowena) vs "I am death warmed up and the papers are reporting on me because I'm a warm corpse" (Grace thingy, etc) but thats just a personal thing and not widely agreed with. I know many believe its foolish assigning morality to deadpooling, but its much like journalism to me: not everyone need work for The Sun. Ditto every deadpooler, and their picks towards the fame dubious end of the spectrum. -

Biggest gamble you took, Joey, imo, was making your joker a risky obit. -

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I axed D@n1 K3mp - a single Daily Mail mention 5 months ago. That, and you know, picking someone that age who is 50/50 just comes as a right cunt move imo. Alan Aspin was my 19th choice, and I can't remember why. Think I decided to take a punt on him. The 20th pick was going to be Hewlett and then just before I sent the email off I stopped, cut his name and chucked Al-Baghdadi in, as if there was a sudden whim. But really, I went for eleven "certs", and three "certs" who are dodgy obits. Which left me enough of a "points bank" to gamble with a few spots, on a comatose Olympian, the Lazy town chap and so on, 50/50ers if you will. If I'd twigged that Skellern was going to make the Drop 40, then Sara Coward might not have been my oldest team member... -

Anna Holmlund is breathing without support but has considerable and possibly irreversible brain damage. A bad Deathrace pick, I'm thinking if she does die it'll be mid-summer/July like Bianchi. -
List of the Missed, I think. He was on my retired Honourable Member for DDP North team last year.
-
Yeah, I mean, look at Page 4 of this thread (2006) - people suggesting how Jake the Snake and Dynamite Kid can't have long left! 11 years on... In fact, the time between those posts and now is more than a third of Lance Cade's entire life span.

Dignam's been claiming near death since Sir Creep was a mere OBE...

Change a few words round and that reminds me of Momentum, and they've got as much chance winning their political argument as the british republicans do in my lifetime, imo.
-
That's never going to work. A vast majority of folk in the UK (not everyone before the pedants arrive) like the Royals. Polling on the old monarchy v republicanism debate saw around a 76% average victory for monarchy as recently as last year.

Hmm, I'd put it towards those likely to be effected. I dislike the idea of seeding, as who is to say Person X is better than Person Y, even if one has won the DDP and the other's won a wooden spoon, seeding is a Spanish Cup thing (and its rubbish there). However, in terms of needing a first round bye, as it stands, there'd be 8 byes in the first round. So, the floors open to the competitors here, and I'll concede to some of the teams with byes being chosen rather than random IF that's the general will of those involved. PS Even if that is decided, it's already my decision that I cannot qualify for a first round bye as the referee. Also, to make sure there's no unfortunate circumstances, I will post my team publicly shortly after the First Round Draw, so there can be no accusations or thoughts of personal abuse of the game.

Listening to a Ric Flair interview from last year. He confirms that Dave Hebner is in "extremely poor health" nowadays. Even with the new QO focus on WWE guys, I wouldn't expect him to get one, but he's certainly one for future Deathrace/Cup/etc teams if he hangs around.

So Snuka's death made me think of that lawsuit, and the 1990 Royal Rumble. That Rumble match now boasts 12 dead wrestlers out of 30. (There are 10 in 1991, then 4-8 until 1998, the first Rumble match without any dead wrestlers is 2009.) Those thirty from 1990: Ted Dibiase (b. 1954) – seems in good health, should see his 70s no bother Koko B Ware (b. 1957) – current suing the WWE for concussion based ill health. Marty Jannetty (b. 1960) – WWE’s version of Gazza, but less talented. Jake Roberts (b. 1955) – WWE’s Keith Richards, survived decades of alcohol and drugs abuse, and brain cancer in 2015. Randy Savage (1952-2011) – died in a car crash/heart attack comb. Roddy Piper (1954-2015) – beat cancer only to die of a heart attack The Warlord (b. 1962) - currently works as a nightclub bouncer, but apparently suffers memory loss from repeat concussions. Also, a posterchild for...certain alleged drug taking of the 1980s. Bret Hart (b. 1957) – Retired due to post-concussion syndrome in 2000, survived a massive stroke in 2002, currently doing well against prostate cancer. Bad News Brown (1943-2007) – Died of a heart attack. Dusty Rhodes (1945-2015) – Died of stomach cancer. Andre the Giant (1946-1993) – Died of heart failure linked to his gigantism. Red Rooster/Terry Taylor (b. 1955) – Born again Christian. Ax/Bill Eadie (b. 1947) – Retired from WWE in 1990 due to “heart issues”. Still wrestling! Also suing the WWE for concussion issues. Haku (b. 1959) – A living meme. Seems in reasonable health. Smash/Barry Darsow (b. 1959) – Part of that lawsuit. Akeem /One Man Gang (b. 1960) – Part of that lawsuit. Had heart attack circa 2001, and had to retire from his job as a prison officer due to injuries. Jimmy Snuka (1943-2017) – died from cancer/dementia. Dino Bravo (1948-1993) – died after trying to double cross the Mob, and being shot 17 times. Earthquake (1963-2006) – died after a long battle with cancer. Jim Neidhart (b. 1955) – fat druggy alcoholic, jailed for trafficking for five months in 2012. Ultimate Warrior (1959-2014) – Died of a heart attack Rick Martel (b. 1956) – Retired with money, and keeps to himself. If he had cancer we’d never know it till the obits. Tito Santana (b. 1953) – Now teaches basketball, iirc, and still wrestles. Honky Tonk Man (b. 1953) Hulk Hogan (b. 1953) – Has spinal issues. Shawn Michaels (b. 1965) – Seems in fair health. Barbarian (b. 1958) – Part of that lawsuit, runs a construction business. Rick Rude (1958-1999) – died of a heart attack. Hercules (1956-2004) – died of a heart attack. Mr Perfect (1958-2003) – OD’d. And now that Snuka, Axl Rotten, and Timothy Well have all died since this concussion lawsuit came to be (and Blackjack Mulligan was involved in the last one). Here is a list of folk the lawsuit claims show the signs of early memory loss due to concussions, or worse: Road Warrior Animal, Paul Orndorff (who suffers severe memory loss, head trauma, mood swings and has beat cancer twice), Chavo Guerrero Jr (suffers issues from a brain haemorrhage caused by Billy Kidman botching a Shooting Star Press), Chavo Guerrero Sr, Adam Bomb (extensive memory issues, peripheral neuropathy), Ahmed Johnson, Kamala (legless), Earl Hebner. Sabu (who has a bit of a cheek blaming Vince for his ECW insanity), Barry Darsow (extreme), Johnny the Bull, Jim Powers (even forgets who he is talking to), Don Leo Jonathan (long term neurological injuries), Mark Canterbury (neurological issues and back problems which strike me as having more to do with that car crash he had), Marty Jannetty (self-medicates and suffers blackouts), Heidenriech (congestive heart failure), Larry Oliver (Alzheimers), Black Bart (heart surgery in 2015), Slick (diabetic), Ron Bass, Boris Zhukov Other Notes Dave Hebner has been diagnosed with dementia and Parkinsons in 2014. Angela Mosca has Alzheimer’s and is suing for concussions suffered in the 1970s. Ken Patera complains he was made to job too often. Mark Jindrak claims the health and safety is safer in Mexico – tell that to Perro Aguayo. The family of Axl Rotten are suing for his health issues, which apparently all occurred due to two matches in 2005, instead of 20 years having hardcore matches in the indies. I suspect a good half dozen or more folk mentioned in this post will be gone by the next US Presidential election, though which ones I could only guess. I thought Marty Jannetty would be dead years ago, but as Chyna proved, you can't cheat death forever.

Oh I thought Snuka was fucked, but I never even remotely considered the possibility of him being on the Drop 40, so dropped him to go for another 60 year old!

I now have hits for my Deathrace team, my Hares Pool team, my DDP reserves, my Death by Numbers team, my Rotten deadpool team, my Alt Obits team, all but my actual DDP team! It's a marathon, though.
