Right, so the BBC are covering Laws and reveal she has cervical cancer which spread to the pelvis (ie, Stage III) - however, it was discovered through secondary cancer on the neck and lymph nodes. Hmmm.

    Star Wars Deaths

"Men out there, young men, are dying for it." To take one of his very few lines in Doctor Who entirely out of context.

    Baseball

I thought we were mentalists who like lists. Lover of list making, the minutiae of a hobby (rap or racing or pro-wrestling, etc), and possessing a sense of gallows humour - the hattrick for the average deadpooler, imho.

    British Character Actors

He appears to have been in two of the episodes of Taggart I've not seen. Admittedly, that's most of them after...2003 or so.

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

You should probably write again that Joost van der Westhuizen and Keith Farnham will definitely see 2017. From a neutral bystander, naturally.

    The Chequered Flag

Well, you have Huston Smith too - if a 97 year old lasts into 2017 after 16 months in hospice care, it'll be an impressive feat.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2017

People need the hope to carry on I guess.I mean there is a tiny chance of success which is better than nothing. The hope to live another eighty-two days...

He will be with a Qualifying Obit!

    Academic Footnotes

950 books?? Reminds me of the chap who wrote the Billy Bunter books, Frank Richards. He once held the Guinness record for most words ever written. To that end, Norris (or Ross, the one who didn't get shot by the IRA) McWhirter once noted that Richards "enjoyed the benefits of not being married"!

I was reading about her earlier this week. As was, presumably, a few others on here. Though I was also mentally sizing up the Daily Mail obit potential for a loud genre writer with advanced cancer too at the same time. (Not the one everyone here is holding back in the hope no one else has them on their DDP, she's a cert...) Fred Dufel - an acclaimed cyclist, apparently - is terminally ill too, but doesn't seem to be as famous as his local press claim. Cert Deathrace fodder, though.

Not HMHB, but Gordon McQueen gets OK after another cancer scare. Just about beat throat cancer in 2011, had a stroke last year, and only 64, he doesn't seem like he's planning to see too grand an old age at this rate.

    Do You Actually Research?

Had one of "those" moments. You see an non-English article with the words "brain cancer" in it, momentarily get the shortlist out, then as you translate the piece, realise it's an insult, not a health update. ie "He said the chap didn't use his brain, was a cancer..."

    Shannen Doherty

Daily Mail post pics of Shannen Doherty going shopping (as is their usual) for deadpoolers to gaze over. Now, if she gets the shamans in too...

    Death Anniversary Thread

Floud is mentioned in Spycatcher. Peter Wright seemed more annoyed at the damage his death would do to Wrights career. Apparently he had a knack for folk he interrogated killing themselves at the time.

Lynsey de Paul managed to die between recording and official release too, iirc.

    The dead of 2016

That didn't take long! Also, I really need to re-evaluate my estimates of who gets the Daily Mail obit.

    20. Yoko Ono

Apparently Yoko Ono is part of some live Periscope gig thing with her son right now, and had trouble walking up onto stage. Apparently she looks very unwell. Information from the wife, I'm not watching it.

    The dead of 2016

Major Tony Bell, 96, MC winner, who survived over 70 years with embedded shrapnel near his lungs.

    Tony Booth

Yes, but he won't have to do any more than play with it. His missus has to do all the chores, much like when kids want a pet. Hasn't he got a lot more going on than the Alzheimers? Heart failure, a stroke a few years back, emphysema issues (iirc his lungs are so frail a cold could kill him) and a few things I'm probably forgetting. He's always struck me as the type of person the Committee like, but I'm not sure they've got more than one chance left, really.

    The Beatles Death Curse

    76. Though his son, Sean, is 41 today. Which means the "Beautiful Boy" is now older than his old man was.
  22. msc

    Tony Booth

In the latest Married with Alzheimer's column, Tony Booth is able to adopt a stray kitten. I think he'll see 2017. Also, today is his 85th birthday. Might be more of an ask to see 86.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2017

Well, a few years back and not related to cancer, but the Daily Mail is aware of his existence.

Henry Brooke, induced coma to assist breathing after injuries in fall at Hexham.

    Death Anniversary Thread

I remember Paul Hunter's death because my grandfather was an avid snooker fan and quite cut up about it. He died himself about 8 months later.
