The DDP has the minimum age rule, which is good. It can be depressing enough seeing 20 year old terminal mums or whoever it is picked, let alone the concept of the arms races moving to terminally ill toddlers.

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

With the current ratio of deaths, I was thinking about how I had to sub out Howard Davies Jr and Darren Tandy in the last week of 2015 due to them being a bit too eager to go. Can't have been the only person in that boat, I wonder how their subs did. Mine were Phil Gartside and Kate Granger, and Monty Brinson would have been the third had anyone else snuffed it before the bells.

Incredible feat. Does this mean Spade has to shake his own hand (read: "click like on own post")? Who broke the 120 point margin first this year? People are on for the 150 point margin now.

That's a unique pick on the DDP for Crossing the Styx.

I had a feeling that was going to happen. On their anniversary too. Poor woman, she fought on far longer than I think anyone here expected. RIP.

    Shaun`s Death By Numbers 2016I

That "hah" was more at my use of a "mere 17" rather than at your expense. I didn't pick DDP people either, next year I should just give Shaun my team by PM if he runs it again. There's nothing quite like a pedantic Scot making a point. Really? I would like to thank you for this jinx on behalf of the 2016 Pan Breed DDP team.

    Shaun`s Death By Numbers 2016I

As Shaun is a bit busy at the moment, stewards inquiry from a friendly busybody. Is there something amiss with the scoreboard? Well, here is the scores for the top four as it stands, with working: Chorizo = 1331 Susannah Mushatt Jones (joker) – 99 x 2 Monty Brinson - 57 Kris Travis - 83 Martin Crowe - 62 Joey Feek - 75 Rene Angelil - 42 Jenny Diski - 47 Big Ang - 60 Howard Marks - 45 Carolien Aherne - 63 Sir Peter Maxwell Davies -34 Bonnie Brown - 38 Peter Esterhazy - 50 Johan Cruyff - 47 Paul Cox - 40 Pat Harrington Jr - 29 Rob Ford - 69 Robert F Dorr - 39 Bryan Weidmeier - 59 Phil Sly – 59 Jade Pateman 93 Lady Susan Renouf - 42 Sir Creep = 969 Rene Angelil - 42 Martin Crowe - 62 Johan Cruyff - 47 Jenny Diski - 47 Bob Ellis - 42 Peter Esterhazy - 50 Mark Farren - 82 Joey Feek - 75 Rob Ford -69 Pat Harrington Jr -29 John Jay Hooker - 30 Howard Marks - 45 Sir Peter Maxwell Davies -34 Henry McCullough - 43 Blackjack Mulligan - 42 Susannah Mushatt Jones - 99 Andrew Smith - 90 Douglas Slocombe - 13 Bill Cardile - 28 Death Impends = 1063 Rene Angelil - 42 Martin Crowe - 62 Johan Cruyff - 47 Jenny Diski - 47 Peter Esterhazy - 50 Mark Farren - 82 Jeoy Feek - 75 Rob ford - 69 Susan Renouf – 42 Pat Harrington Jr - 29 Susannah Mushatt Jones (joker) 99 x 2 Tom Libous - 53 Eric Lubbock - 28 Howard Marks - 45 Andrew Smith - 90 Kris Travis - 83 Abe vigoda - 21 DDT - 1499 Joey Feek – 75 Jenny Diski - 47 Phil Gartside - 52 Kris Travis - 83 Martin Crowe - 62 Louise Plowright - 56 Peter Esterhazy - 50 Bonnie Brown - 38 Eric Lubbock - 28 Rob ford - 69 Thomas Fekete - 89 Ronald Mulkearns- 30 Aden Hailu (joker) – 95 x 2 Rene Angelil - 42 Rev Sandy McDonald - 37 Peter Maxwell Davis - 34 Howard Marks - 45 Dan Haggerty - 42 Bob Ellis - 42 Abdul Sattar Edhi - 28 Johann Cruyff - 47 Julien Hoferlin - 66 Mark Farren - 82 Padnit Shakhar Ghosh - 35 Big Ang - 60 Alftredo Armenteros- 28 Susan Renouf - 42 The numbers are a bit off because I added Cardile and Renouf. Although I double counted Chorizo and came 200 points ahead, so even discounting crap maths you might want to double check that as it sounds like someone's been forgotten. Sir Creep is disadvantaged by picking the wrong 117 year old to be his joker. However, DDT picked neither, and is currently standing at 27/50 in July. Chorizo has 22/50, in July. Death Impends has a mere 17/50 (hah), but is a fairly astute chooser. All four teams have done very well, really, but the thing is, DDT is a monster at these games. The Ideas for Next year thread was once jokingly called Ideas for Mid-August years ago because of how often DDT would highlight a person whose health was hitherto unknown to be gravely ill, only for them to then snuff it within days/weeks. He is scarily good at these things.

So The Browns were a trio? I thought they had as many members as The Nolans. Certainly putting Maxine on my shortlist for 2017 now on this pattern! I think William Lucas is my first ever successful unique pick.

    Deathlist Dreaming

I don't normally like quoting myself but somewhat coincidentally Alda's co-star Wayne Rogers died exactly a year later. I don't think any Swedish actresses died at the same time though. Two years later (but I keep going to write 2015 myself so I don't blame you)... however, early in January 2015, Anita Ekberg died. So that sort of counts? Just a passing thought.

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

I think so yes, I once looked for it, since I also like to hunt for uniques. Coincidentally, I wondered earlier today whether it is possible to field a Theme Team with the Theme "people I think will be unique hits". And then I'd like not to score for them, if they aren't unique. I used to spend ages looking for uniques. In 2013, I wound up with 25% uniques in the Pan Breed team, and all of them lived. Meanwhile, Bernie Nolan got missed. Now, I'm quite content in the knowledge that if I find someone I think might be unique, their name is almost surely in one of Spade/DI/DDT's shortlists/visions. This is my first DDP team with no uniques, and also my most successful. (I wonder if Sandy McDonald might have been if I'd not mentioned him on this forum. Doubtful!) As a certain Sir of this parish once said, its better to focus on deadable people.* The Honourable Member for DDP North and The Gallifreyan Regeneration Game make up for this with 19 unique picks between them. *I will naturally change my opinion in the unlikely outcome that Luke Halpin costs me the DDP!

    Derby Dead Pool 2016

People can choose anyone they want to (subject to rules) for their DDP team, for whatever reasons they like. No one has to explain their choices to you or to anyone else. School Bus reminded me of Play Days, which reminds me of Play School, which reminds me of Brian Cant. I wonder what he's up to now. *adds to longlist to annoy no one in particular*

Any relation to Garry as he has also died......?! Well played! Edited, it has been that kind of a morning.

Hey guys! I've been away all morning but I've heard rumours that Garry Marshall died. Can't see it on this forum yet though... I didn't know he was related to Penny Marshall though!

Authors Last A Long Time, But....

Who cares? He's 'deadable'. You folks really have issues putting carts in front of horses. I'll take 12 deaths and 4 of them don't obit vs your 6 folks that guarantee obits. You know who won't obit? LIVING PEOPLE!SC I look forward to doing battle with you in the DDP next year then. You know how obitable Robert Dorr was? He died over a month ago. I had him in the Hare's pool and didn't even notice. Not a chance of QO.

    Robert Hardy

The article said that he is downsizing his home, which means he's planning to move somewhere smaller. So probably nothing ominous, just that there won't be room for it all. You were probably right. He's still doing talks, and looks hearty for a man soon to be 91 in the photo attached to that news article. Imdb also suggests he's going to be in this. That has to be an old photo judging by his appearance on BBC News at lunchtime today. Watched it. Starting to look his age, but still working... Still far more worthy of a Deathlist spot than Lester Piggot at this point in time, though.

And leave my various cards etc lying around in the pockets to lose as they all fall out. Zip pockets. But in general, it is much easier to lose one wallet containing everything, than lots of little things not in a wallet. That said, sounds a right nuisance, hope it sorts itself out soon.
