France have only themselves to blame, played in second gear most of the game. Portugal were the better team on the night and won.

Oh don't mind me, TMIB, I just saw the opportunity for some political geekery. I dare say Leadsom becoming PM is as likely as someone like Jeremy Corbyn becoming leader of the Labour party...

Churchill was Chancellor in the 1920s. Technically it's Arthur Balfour, if you don't count his time in charge of the Foreign Office in the 1890s when Lord Salisbury was ill. (It was more "interim" than a real term.) Balfour lost an election so badly he even lost his own seat, incidentally. Otherwise you can go back to the Earl of Derby, who was leader of the Tories before becoming PM, but they weren't the official opposition until after he'd become PM due to the collapse of the Whigs. However, if we discount both of those, and include the Home Office as one of the four big offices of state (which we should if we're counting Leader of the Opposition), then the last person to become PM without any of those qualifications, if we discount Balfour and Derby due to complications, is the Duke of Wellington in 1828. And he beat Napoleon!

Could be a crucial hit for DQSP.

8/20. Not bad for someone who has never watched it.

Former Observer/Independent/New Statesman/etc journalist and editor Peter Wilby showed up on the Sunday Politics to discuss Corbyn. Sunken cheeks, croaky voice, and only 70.

Will admit to being a bit confused by that post at first, as I don't think he was born anywhere close to the 20s, till I realized you meant Shaun's avatar! Hah! Admittedly, this is the only deadpool around I can think of in which Pan Breed favourite Mary Wilson is ineligible.

Deathlist Dreaming
msc replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Nah, just means you don't want to live your life like everybody else. -
Good to hear from you, OoO.

Third option - he knew the camera was running but pretended he didn't so he could speak his true feelings "accidentally".

I double checked and everything - my eyesight must be going crap in my old age. I'll swap him for King Michael of Romania then.

Starr is certainly in line for a theme team I have in mind for 2017, if we are still allowed theme teams under the new rules, of course.

I see you've sacked Ed Miliband, Shaun.

Yes, I mentioned it last night. Entire front page is down.

July 4th was a popular day for Deathlist hits, however. In 2012, we had Eric Sykes, with the lid on, and in 2013 it was the turn of Bernie Nolan. Nolan's death was a sore one here. Late in 2012, someone (one of the regulars but I forget which one of you) was talking about DDP picks in the chatroom and had mentioned not considering Nolan as "she had a treatable cancer". I pointed out that the cancer had spread nearly everywhere and not only a fool would miss out on her in the DDP. They agreed, and picked Nolan, iirc, for the 2013 Deadpool. If you were to glance at the 2013 Pan Breed team, you can see which fool didn't. In my haste to get my team in, I forgot all about her. And Masao Yoshida too, but his anniversary isn't for another five days. So this anniversary certainly goes by with a memorial facepalm from this fool!

The front page appears to be down just now, but when it returns, Helms has one of my favourite write ups on there. The first Deathlist "hit" from when I started visiting the forum regularly.

Belatedly watching the Michael Grade documentary The Fight for Saturday Night (2014), about BBC and ITV's prime time battles. Reminds me that both Sir Paul Fox (b. 1925) and Michael Peacock (b. 1929) are still with us, though both looked lucid but aged back then.

Thanks. At this rate we'll need a thread on here, Ask Cat, for whenever you need stuff done.

I was half tempted to change mine on it being mentioned due to contrary streak, but the original has been there so long, I can't find the actual picture on Google anymore. It's the Necropolis at night. Besides, it's only an avatar.

He'll be alive in 4 years, with everyone going "Surely this illness will be the last one?" at that time too.
-
First time they'd faced a penalty shootout in 10 years too. Bloody Zaza. Takes up a place on the Deathlist for years, and then skies a penalty.
-
Didn't he go off for months at a time due to work before? My rubbish memory tells me this might be the case?

I'd quite like to see Cimino's epic flop Heaven's Gate one day, just to see if it really is that bad. He manages to get a dull performance from John Hurt in it.

She finished 9 points off qualifying. Peter Maxwell-Davies also just missed out and has died.
