    Deathrace 2016

You're eager! I think this could be a far tougher year to win though. With Death Impends rapid improvement year on year, DDT and Spade being DDT and Spade (if they play), and perhaps Sir Creep if you can entice him to play (his Shadow list this year had 7 hits by February, with smart picking he'd have crushed the field here)...

PSP has no cure and a medium survival of 7 years. One to watch in a year or two's time, to see how he's doing.

    George Bush Senior

That's a safe bet. The guy is 92 next year, you can probably measure out his time left in months rather than decades. Next story will be the Enquirer announcing sources are "worried John McCain's beloved mother, Roberta, is near the end of her life".

    The Deathlist Howto

As requested by Sir Creep (who I assume is planning to join some of them in 2016), a brief "rules resume" of the various Deadpools played by forum members. Any gaps which can be filled in by other forum members would be gratefully appreciated. The Kentucky if it still runs, for example. DDP - 20 names (plus 3 subs in case any die before 1st January), no changes throughout the year, picks need to have a mention as having died on one of about 20 obit sources. From loose memory, the American stars who don't get obits here tend to struggle to get them in the US too, but that's not a fast rule. Deathrace - 20 names, if a pick dies on January 1st its 365 points, January 2nd 364 etc etc. First team to 2016 next year wins. MPFC runs it, and likes a swift fast winner, so will accept nearly any obit known to man, even a mention in passing in the horoscope section of an US newspaper. As reigning champion (somehow), I picked up points from the translation of a French parish newsletter. No changes as the game is expected to end ASAP. Hares Pool - Deathray's game (in which you pick 25 celebs), much like the Deathrace but reverse. So you want to pick lingerers who might snuff it in December 2016. Death by Years - Shauns game, you play this. Hartlepool Deadlypool - Haven't a bloody clue. I just pick ten famous names each year and hope for the best! Inverse Deadpool - Formerly run by Spade, it starts in mid-January when the Deathlist 50 and the Drop 40 (most popular picks on 2016's Derby Dead Pool) are known. You pick the 25 people on each you think will definitely not die, and were stupid picks. Then if they die, you lose points. The person with 0, or the closes to a positive score, wins. That's the main ones (the DDP and the forum games) I play anyhow. Toast also mentions the Rotten Dead Pool, which I thought was run by Rotten Ali!

    DL Dead Pools

No, but the game does start afresh on January 1st, so thoughts do move towards the 2019 team. First team to 2019 next year wins. Hares Pool - Deathray's YWillz Deathray's game (in which you pick 25 celebs), much like the Deathrace but reverse. So you want to pick lingerers who might snuff it in December 2019. Joker points double for one pick, but sods law can come in here - I got 8 points for Rayya Elias this year! Death by Years - Shauns RadGuy Reptile's game. You pick 50 names, and gain points on death corresponding to the persons year of birth. For example, if you go for Jimmy Carter and he dies, you get 24 points. Or double that,if he's your joker. Hartlepool Deadlypool - Right, so you pick 10 names and 2 subs. You win points based on the position of the person on your list ie if 1st place dies first you get 50 points, and then so on, but if they die out of order, the points won goes down by 5 points each time. There is a staggering number of bonus points which multiply, so people can gain huge points on one pick. The grand master of this is The Dead Cow who got 200+ bonus points on one pick (Vanessa Marquez) in 2018. Sounds complicated but is quite enjoyable and the host does all the maths for you... Inverse Deadpool - Formerly run by Spade, now by Death Impends, it starts in mid-January when the Deathlist 50 and the Drop 40 (most popular picks on 2016's Derby Dead Pool) are known. You pick the 25 people on each you think will definitely not die, and were stupid picks. Then if they die, you lose points. The person with 0, or the closes to a positive score, wins. Deathlist Cup - Runs Feb-June. You get drawn against another competitor and put a team of 11 names. 3 points for a successful hit during a match, 4 if they are unique. Each match takes a single month, only winners advance to the next round. Famous Only for Dying types (ie "tragic last christmas cancer mums") are banned from this deadpool. Poker - Runs July-December. Pick 25 names, YWillz assigns a random poker card to each name, and if they die, you get points and bonuses. Windy City - Runs May to May. 21 names, points attributed per spot on the team. So 1st gets 500 points, 2nd 450 and so on... Alt Obits - Run on the Alt Obits website. Pick 40 names, hope they pass the fame requirement (which is a bit in flux by the hour) and then lose to Alt Obits Guy. Deathlist Correction - Runs Jan to December. You pick the people you think will die on the DL. When they do you gain points. When they dont you lose points. 54321 - Runs Jan to December. Pick 5 people. You gain points (5-4-3-2-1) based on how few others picked them first. Inverse I - Pick 10 names off Wormfarmers list. If any of them die you are out. ABC Deadpool - Runs August to August. Picks based on alphabetical order with bonuses. Updated for January 2020 That's the main ones (the DDP and the forum games) I play anyhow.

    Boxing Clever?

October article on his website: "Everybody dies, but few have the opportunity to accomplish a greater good through their death. Davis fights every day with spirit and tenacity, not just to hold death back longer but to inspire the lives of others." Now I'm reading into it but who talks about impending death unless there is .... An impending death? Will he make 2016? I bet it's close. SC http://www.howarddavisjrfoundation.org/the-indomitable-fight-inside-howard-davis-jr/ Boxing news in June had him as terminally ill. Only thing keeping him off my DDP team at the moment is the concern about a UK obit. He's had no coverage whatsoever so far.

  13. I only ever pop into the chat room for the annual New Year Day Deathlist reveal chat anyway. No point in banning folk, just don't look at idiotic posts - that's what I do. [Yes, I don't look at my own posts, before some smart alec replies with that one!]

Stairway To Heaven/ Highway To Hell

LOL he's foregoing Western medicine because it doesn't CURE bile duct cancer.BWA HA HA HA HA HA ... Sorry Mr Roth but please get back to us when you've found a 'cure'. Mr Roth? Yoo hoo Mr Roth? Has anyone seen Mr Roth? Thanks to his decision he is 2016 Lock Of The Year. SC Reminds me of former motocyclist Barry Sheene, who got stomach and throat cancer in 2002. Instead of going for chemo or the like, he announced he was seeing an Austrian healer who suggested the cure for cancer was a strict diet. For more evidence on how successful this was, see the 2003 Deathlist on the front page! Mr Roth seems a bit obscure for DDP points (unless the Mail or Huffington Post pick him up) but would surely be worth points in the annual Deathrace. MPFC even let me score points for an ailing French cardinal based on a brief mention in an online parish newsletter!

    British Science Fiction Series

Doctor Who is one of those shows where due to the length of time it's been running, there will be a whole array of actors would have appeared in an episode or two. Every time I'd go to the theatre and glance through the program 9 times out of 10, the actors would have appeared on Dr. Who, The Bill, or Casualty I agree. There's lots of reasons why actors appear in this thread for Doctor Who appearances, but I guess the main one for me is that an actor can have many myriad roles in TV and film, appearing in a scene here or an episode there, but when they appear in Doctor Who, especially the classic series, their role is inevitably much larger and more central to the plot, sometimes over three, four, six or even ten episodes. Given that, the iconic status of the serial and that certain folk will remember certain stories with affection combine to highlight their appearance here. It also gives people a sort of cultural osmosis. I've lost track of the number of times a good actor has died, I've mentioned it to the wife, then reeled off any number of big films they've been in whilst her face is blank, until finally going "He was the villain in The Green Death" and then people seem to know who you meant!

Who Should Be On The 2016 Deathlist?

Jake the Snake wasn't a bad choice because of health or being a wrestler. He was a bad choice because he's got the Keith Richards survival gene.

What Do You Think Of The 2015 Death List?

    Deathlist years by number of hits (updated) 1. 2008 (14/50), 2003 (14/50) 2. 2015 (13/50), 2013 (13/50), 2006 (13/50) 3. 2012 (12/50), 2009 (12/50), 2005 (12/50), 2004 (12/50) 4. 2014 (10/50), 2007 (10/50), 2002 (10/50), 2001 (10/50), 2000 (10/50), 1999 (10/50) 5. 2010 (9/50), 1997 (9/50), 1995 (9/50), 1994 (9/50) 6. 1998 (8/50) 7. 2011 (7/50), 1996 (7/50) 8. 1993 (5/56), 1992 (5/37) 9. 1990 (3/42), 1989 (3/32) 10. 1987 (1/31) 11. 1991 (0/40) Everything I said four days ago remains the same, except that the 2015 Deathlist is now held up by 77% old people not waking up. And frankly, who cares at this point? There is no doubt any longer that this is one of the great Deathlist years. Only 2003 had racked up the score faster than this year, and all other years with this level of success (bar 2003) had one more hit in them at this point.

Well if I play next year she is a shoe-in cuz family wouldn't care if she was healthy. Glad to see that's what's foremost on their minds at this time. Jesus Frikkin Christ....And I've no idea who the hell she is.... SC I've never heard of her either. I'd assume she's one of the cancer mums.

I wouldn't. I'm about 99% convinced now that he was a cancer fraud.
