Iola, Brubeck's wife of 70 years, has died. Unsurprising as they seemed quite besotted with each other in the recent documentary.
-
Well, so far my attempts to pick actually terminally ill folk has led to an impressive 1/20, but it does mean my bad luck at these things has extended to nobbling nearly 50% of Odstock's field.

Not quite sure you meant 2003.

"The Miracle of Castel Di Sangro" is easily the best book about football written by an American. Never mind the political stuff, that's his only book I have. The Guardian is full of football geeks, and that book has a reputation, so knew he'd get the obit from them.

Note to self - in 2015, instead of picking excitingly old folk, pick decrepit old folk.

Is Norman Scott still alive? Was as of 2009 and living in Dartmoor (after all, as one judge - or was it Peter Cook ? - said, Andrew Newton was incapable of carrying out a simple murder plot without buggering the whole thing up). He was involved in such a juicy scandal of the 70s, you would assume one of the papers would note his death.

Can't wait to see his bios on Techno Team 2000, Alex "the Pug" Porteau and Don Leo Jonathan in the 2015 Diamond Dallas Page Derby Deadpool.

Probably way ahead of me on this one, TMIB, but as I saw it on the List of the Lost earlier, Christopher Barry had mentions in the Telegraph, The Mirror and behind The Times paywall. Cause of death was a fall down an escalator too.

No link? http://www.heraldscotland.com/comment/obituaries/russell-johnson.23205886 Though I assume there was lots of links posted when he died, nearly 6 weeks ago.

Are you planning to win DDP by midsummer? 411mania crediting the Observer... -

Ian Brady. I'm an optimist.

Word on the Twitter is perennial "I recognise the face, not the name" actress Margery Mason has died aged 100. Probably better known for cameos in Harry Potter and Princess Bride, but she was very good in Jonathan Creek.

Long term missus, not wife, actually. Misread it. But both have kids, which still rules out her.

Well, to kill one avenue on the social media - the idiot who runs a North East football club, with her who used to be with the idiot from Chelsea - those bastions of truth The Sun claim the guy's wife found out. And aforementioned idiot has no current wife, that I am aware of.

I love the eternal DDT optimism of point 2.

George Scott, old school 50s wrestler who later booked the WWF in their 80s expansion (including WrestleMania 1) has died aged 85 according to various wrestling forums crediting Meltzer.

Given Wallis had pro-Nazi sympathies, a bullet well dodged there.

Bit late in the day for Lloyd-Pack, DJL, but as I'm nice... A few actors from the New Series have passed on already. Not counting regulars from the original series. The wonderful Margaret John was the Gran in The Idiots Lantern and passed away a few years ago. Howard Attfield who was Donna's dad died of cancer, and that led to us getting Bernard Cribbins in as a late substitution. Rita's dad from The God Complex died too, as have a number of extras. And of course, Sir Patrick Moore, given his 'acting' appearance in Matt Smith's debut episode.

This is appauling: "quite frankly" is clearly a sub-clause and, therefore, needs commas on either side and "This is more harsh" simply continues the sentence so the "t" should be lower case! This is appalling: When correcting grammar, please ensure that your spelling is correct! (Hastily checks for grammar & spelling errors) FFS, it was ironic! Like raiiiiiiin on your wedding day? (I do apologise)

I'll raise you Jon Snow. He's looked poorly for a while now... I thought Snow looked seriously ill a few years ago, around Obama's first campaign, but in comparison he looks much better these days.

I saw Roger play Sir Andrew in Twelfth Night (with Stephen Fry) in November 2012. He was an excellent comic and straight actor and will be sadly missed. I thought he made a bit of a balls of his guest star role in Doctor Who (see also Bill Paterson). Other than that he was great... And yet he was the most interesting thing in that story. Actually, having read his rational for the part, seemed one of those cases when it seems a wise acting choice at the time, but doesn't come across well in the filming. These things happen.

If you want some useless information to add to your list, I believe Derek Deadman is about 74 or so this year. If we are talking the same actor who was in The Invasion of Time.

Given there are old timers on the Wrestling Classic forum (previously a frequent haunt of Lou Thesz before his death in 2002) who openly put Mae on their list of the ten toughest people - not just females - in wrestling history, if there is anyone who could no sell end stage kidney failure, it'd be her. Ninety-four next month (according to her arrest reports from the 1940s, which didn't count her stage age) and talking to people off life support. Amazing.
