I stand by my previous comments. I know he was quite popular. We were fundamentally opposed on an important civil liberty. Given the former I'll say no more. Though I knew and liked Bishop Mone. Great man, in actions and in beliefs and in basic compassion very liberal. A rarity among the top brass though. I've no idea why, in a religion which follows the words attributed to Jesus (as an atheist his divinity or lack matters not a jot in this instance) the last two former popes could bark views, and promote people who shared them, which seemed so diametrically opposed to the Jesus they profess to love.

Starmer-Smith. tbh I can't remember who I voted for a few hours ago.

Bill Treacher was below 200th place at time of death. RIP.

You get easily excited enough as it is!

Rotten year for vintage Eastenders. I blame @Gooseberry Crumble!
-
Readers, my memory sucks! Not that long since Manny Charlton went either. Poor Zal Cleminson losing nearly all his bandmates in last few years.
-
Readers, he's still on my shortlist and I never got round to picking him for anything!
-
Another person I knew once. He's apparently more liberal in retirement. If only he'd been so in power. Very very anti-gay, like almost all of the John Paul II/Benedict appointees. Incidentally, the current chap in the job is to the left of his three immediate predecessors, and is friends with Francis so may rise to bigger things yet. (And also has heart issues.)

Hmm, cancer ran in the family. They brought in for LOTSW to try and replace his dad, but Bill Owen was pretty much irreplaceable for that show, and it was never the same.
-
Out before the final, imo. Randomly, Shane.

As long term TCD fans will know, we add lists to the masterlist as they come in, and then add in the sub points closer to Hogmanay. (And then Betty White went and died, but, it helps when events like that happen. Imagine me needing to sub 4000 points in 2 hours!) So, with an RIP to Leslie Philips, I can confirm that not only is he the first DNS name to fall from contention on the 2023 TCD, but, at time of posting, he was in first place on the list!

All that moaning from the usual suspects (like, err, me) and we're batting the normal average by November as usual!
-
He was OK with it in 2010. The Qatar bid moved him to a bigger house!
-
Gut feeling it wont be the case for 1987 if you're carrying on the theme team!
-
If I pick Lord Lucan as joker, can I get the 730 points on January 1st, as he is actually dead but the papers think he isn't? Asking for a friend.

Hey, it's not all maudlin, he cut the verse about his great-grandmother getting dementia and someone running his pet rabbit over. By the time he's singing about his mum dying from a broken heart because his dad died because Gilbert got stood up at the wedding, I can't help but laugh. (Also current juxtaposition - bottom of the table above right now is a singer whose most famous song is about a guy who keeps telling everyone he's going to commit suicide but never does. Top of the table is a tribute to an artist whose personal demons were sadly too much for them.)
-
Off the top of my head, Daniel Ellsberg of the Pentagon Papers fame is still alive, born 1931. A few theme teams have him on the DDP, cert obit when he goes. He was def on the master list of political foes that made Gerald Ford quip that "anyone who needs to keep a list of their enemies has too many"!

I refer you to who started the thread! Yes, the two young girls in the film died horrifically young, and I believe Dunne's murderer got away with a stupidly light sentence, but the rest all died of age or pre-existing issues mostly. Though, curses clearly exist. I was skeptical but did you know, of all the people who were there when they opened Tutankhamen's tomb in 1922, none are alive today. Spooky!

He plays for Man U, he's a regular for them and Denmark again. Players are returning to the game with pacemakers etc but he's the first to do so after a cardiac arrest. I'm a bit wary tbh (but in a minority there).

You'll have to ask @gcreptileand @death impends . When I suggested last word the website covered everyone, the in brief section is new this year!

I see what you did there! Not going to lie, I bloody love The Bee Gees. And Blondie. And ABBA. And Boney M and Kate Bush are nae bad either.

With 11 teams in already the most popular newcomers to date are: 1. Popular TV star 2. Royal figure 3. Former TV name 4. Popular director 5. Drol favourite 6. WTF still alive pick 7. Another Drol favourite This will all change long before Hogmanay, of course.
