James Marcus was Sidney Tate in London's Burning so would be nice/sad to see that confirmed as him.

    Bill Clinton

Personally I think Biden has looked surprisingly well in recent appearances and without the weight of being President could easily have a surprisingly long retirement. For a guy in his eighties already. Think he'll see early mid nineties like Ford. Clinton is hard to judge because you sense he's already in the extra years he gained through diet change etc when he first took ill. Early eighties feels about right. Bush Jr has always been in amazing health (I remember in the days before presidential medicals were gimmicked some astonishment at how healthy his heart was for a sixty year old) and still looks great so short of accidents or sods law cancer, I'd be shocked if he didn't say least make his dad's age. Obama is too young to properly assess. Trump is a major HA waiting to happen. He still has no real diet or exercise regime, he looks like shit. Reminds me of people I've known who seemed to avoid consequences for unhealthy lifestyle for ages only for it to kick their arse decisively and quickly in their late seventies/early eighties.

They have been recorded this year. William Gaunt looked great in his, Roy Clarke looked his age and Alan Bennett looked like a man circling the drain. Mind you, Michael Jayston seemed in good nick in his and by the time they showed it, he was dead.

Ah good, I was wondering about that.

    Political Frailty

For the last decade or so (bar lockdowns) I've been walking at least nine miles a week exercise wise and find my asthma is in a lot better shape. Also taking stairs instead of lifts but that's claustrophobia rather than fitness reasons.

    Death In The Family

Christ, that's awful, Sean. Sorry to hear all that and hope you're keeping an eye on your own health. Best wishes.

Can't see the video online sadly but to quote one of my all time favourite crap movies, as Michael Caine eloquently put it in The Swarm: "I never dreamed it would be the bees. They've always been our friends!"

Forgot Windham and my DDP pick but that was off top of my head. I'm getting quite skeptical about Berzerker, ill yes but not to the extent that judge thought. On the opposite end of this, Ricky Steamboats short comeback ended in 2010 when he suffered a massive internal haemorrhage and nearly died, yet he appeared on TV recently and looks incredible for a 71 year old pro wrestler. Mind you, Bob Backlund was notoriously clean living and looked after himself and Abdullah the Butcher is a mess. It's really pot luck.

Abbie is a proper WTF case. Ill for years, breathing issues, overweight, hospital recently and still going. Lawler's on the downward spiral imo. Flair. Dunno how he's alive. Crazy clearly doesn't listen to the reaper. Jake is the last person I ever expected to listen to doctors advice on how to prolong your life with COPD. Duggans a weird one. Fairly robust but has lots of health crisis in-between. Can only beat cancer so many times. Bret's ok. He's a bit frail from the stroke but that's just him for life. Wouldn't be surprised if he outlived another few brothers. What's Bruce up to these days? Marty Jannetty is a nutter addict, not sure how he's still alive. Heidenreich has a number of health issues. Had heard Dutch Mantel has been ill. Dennis Condrey had throat cancer for ages and looked like shit recently. Bobby Fulton still ill. Watch the ecw addicts who have gone quiet, Justin Credible for example. Tugboats still going somehow as is bloody Sir Mo. Ahmed Johnson has suspected dementia, Earl Hebner is meant to going the same way as his brother and Sabu is suffering the least surprising neurological problems in history. Both of Demolition have early signs of dementia. None getting the last rites but the 1940s where 90% of the name wrestlers born then died before the age of 76 looks like it was repeat with the 1950s and maybe even the 1960s. Incidentally Boris Zhukov has migraines, memory loss, blackouts and dizziness and still works as a long distance truck driver. The American dream!

His family have said he is dying. Illiterate wrestling news sites have just jumped the gun because they can't read properly.

    Astronauts

They'll be remarkably safe up in the ISS by space standards. It's primarily a budget issue, NASA needing the extra money to get two extra astronauts home. That Boeing sent up two astronauts knowing there was danger in getting them back is the scandal.

    Ideas and possibilities for 2025

https://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/announcement-of-rule-changes-for-2021-ddp/ Guess it depends on point 4. Have they achieved anything of major note since diagnosis? But 18, pregnant and terminally ill would have fallen under our "dear god no" decision making at the time.

    Deadpool Detective Work

afaik she's still alive. As in she was alive in 2015, known to Big Finish folk, and they've not said she's dead since! If we're talking mysteries, the one I've never solved is Spiros Arion. (It's seemingly unsolvable until he appears in death records somewhere, I'm just sharing the pain.) Sixties pro-wrestler, born circa 1940, wrestled for the McMahons. Reported dead in 1997, then he was interviewed by a wrestling historian in 2000 (which suggests the 1997 internet date is a bit wrong!), but obscure as fuck and living in Greece, may have died off the radar at any point since 2001. Wrestling Classics lot think he is alive but has travelled extensively since 1980, and despite being one of the biggest wrestling villains of the sixties, hasn't done a public interview, appearance, social media account in the past 24 years.

I think my life would be amazing with a Jigglypuff. I'm an insomniac! Apparently people wake up peaceful and rested which is worth wiping the art work off your face IMO.

    The Fucking 2024 Olympics

msc was taking the piss out of that "questions will have to be asked about funding" bollocks from a few pages ago. For the record, I understand Master Obit's point of view, I just personally disagree with it. For me, a medals a medal, especially when a vast chunk of them have come out of nowhere. Sure, the gold medals are down on recent Olympics, and Team GB had a vast number of agonisingly close 4th places, and a few strong events where we underperformed (ahem cycling), but that's just area for improvement next time. In short, my views are basically that meme about the glass being half full that Toast posted!

    ABC Deadpool VII: 2023-24 Season

To answer your PM my hits were: Rob Burrow Charlie Bird Frank Field Heath Streak Johnnie Irwin Oscar Quitak (didn't get a DDP qo though) Simon Cowell Paul Vachon Cale Yarborough Zoleka Mandela I've had rather too much whisky to work out the points for each right now though.

    The Fucking 2024 Olympics

So 63 medals now with outside shot of another tomorrow? Clearly a mare for Team GB to be practically on par with their greatest ever teams (bar 1908 where we gamed it).

    The Fucking 2024 Olympics

The Man City of the Olympics! Well can't say that for the women's 4 x 400, that was one of the most one sided races I can recall in the thirty years I've been watching the Olympics. And the UK still took a medal behind them!
  23. Haven't actively celebrated my birthday in over a decade. Nobody in the family bar dad, wean, wife really remembers it and I mostly lack the ego to remind folk. Presents are basically ebooks that are paid for by me (on behalf of the wean) so I never need to worry about people asking me what I'd want. On the contrary I love Christmas which was the time for getting together as family. Due to COVID, and COVID, and people's health problems, and family dying, and COVID again, and last Christmas me catching stupid norovirus I couldn't shift, we've not had a family Christmas since 2019 and this year looks unlikely. That's life for you.

    The Fucking 2024 Olympics

2012 is easier to mythologise too because of events like that Saturday where it was just pissing down British golds in the athletics non-stop.

    The Fucking 2024 Olympics

For the record, GB's all time medal hauls at the Olympics 1908 - 146 medals 2016 - 67 medals 2012 - 65 medals 2020 - 64 medals 2024 - 56 medals so far. So, despite all the near misses, 5th most successful games for Britain AT WORST and not out of the question we could get into the 60s yet again. Such a failure...
