Bob Knight, basketball coach, apparently no longer replying to his fan mail and "not in great health" via the fan mail community.
-
She was still signing fan mail as Ulitzer says but folk started getting rejections in June.

I appreciate the picture and the "not dead" disclaimer!

Key points: United Methodist Bishop Robert H. Spain led conferences in Kentucky from 1988 to 1992, when he was already in his 60s. But that was just the beginning. He also served as bishop again from 1995 to 1996 in South Carolina after the untimely death of Bishop Joseph B. Bethea. In retirement, Spain took on a new role as full-time chaplain for the United Methodist Publishing House and faithful worshipper at Brentwood United Methodist Church. Old guy in America. H for Hitchcock, apparently.

In hospital terms, a bedblocker is someone not ill enough to die, but ill enough you can't move them, thus they remain in hospital indefinitely. In DL terms, a bedblocker is someone who, on the Deathlist, is only going to leave it through death. Benedict isn't yet one because they keep dropping him. Kissinger, who has been on the last 5 and will be till he dies, is an example. But the term really developed as a joke reference to the slightly dull Cmme favourites who were never dropped like Javier Perez de Cuellar, Billy Graham, going further back in time Dino de Laurentiis, etc etc.

Hmm, the two Popes for starters. Jimmy Carter. Eastwood, Hackman, Duvall. Buzz. Murdoch for the party. In the next few years - Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Michael Caine, Robert Redford, Julie Andrews, the Dalai Lama, etc. To say nothing of the never ending stream of A list war babies and boomers. Blair, Brown, Major, May, Clinton, Trump, Bush yes but all far too young. But that's the thing. Most of the people considered "too old and important to drop" now were too young and healthy to include a decade ago. The conveyer belt towards oblivion never ceases.

Ah the sign of Autumn: leaves on the ground, temperature cools, Christy Dignam setback stories...

We are? Since when?

Well that's the most depressing downgrade of a new name I've seen in some time. "Turns out he's not a centenarian actor, he's an old paedo instead."
-
Hope she is on the mend. And you. Best wishes. (What a post to return for, though! )

Mark Chapman paroled. Nah, I'm just shitting you, denied parole for the 12th time. Tbh I think the life imprisonment is more for his own safety than anyone else.
-
I'll be honest, I've double checked my points tally for you three times with the working you gave and come up with three different answers each time, so I'm just going to lie down till my head stops hurting. Good work, that chap.
-
Dunno about the crap scoring, msc's on the comeback trail if I counted all those points up!

Nothing for 5 months, then 4 hits in a fortnight. The DL moves in mysterious ways.
-
Good pick by the Cmme. A few rumours of ill health last year iirc but nothing solid.
-
Murder by the Book? Murder He Wrote? Bedknobs and Book's Sticks? Oh wait, gut feeling.
-
Dick van Dyke. It's never the people you expect in 2022.
-
12 days later, 2 hits later, neither on this shortlist! I'm good at this! Either one massive jinx, or @Gooseberry Crumble bowel movements in action.

Among the many people showing up to pay tribute to the Queen, Dame Joan Bakewell appeared on Channel 4. She is 89 nowadays but looks and sounds two decades younger.
-
I'd assume any long time President of Equity would get a broadsheet obit. Also, apparently the current President is Maureen Beattie! And she's 69 these days! And also, Irish, not Scottish as I'd assumed for her ever presence in Scottish TV!

Big Brother is watching you!

Grim, Welshman and a few others (Harry at one point at least, the former poster Mr Stats too) meet up each December, get very drunk and put together the list. Grim has been the public, err, face of this for the last 20 years at least. When the forum started, DL committee decisions were discussed more commonly (there's an amusing argument over why Princess Margaret got lost in 2002 somewhere on the forum archives) but less so with time.
-
Grim's the boss!
-
I do expect him to be sent to some godforsaken place like America tbh.

Must admit, the Paddington as Grim Reaper meme on Twitter due to all the Paddington/Queen pictures has raised a chuckle! Anyhow, Wombles, Paddington, that's like asking me to pick just one Dr WHo!
