I'd assume that's read from the context? ie "They've cut the NHS but hey at least we have blue passports". I know there are people who actually think this without intended humour of course.

Ah, Deathray, I refer you to Rule 6: 6. If in doubt, submit a pick, but the decision of the ref (me) is final and is not open to any court of appeal. If you think it’s a dodgy pick, it probably is. Which should be taken in conjunction with Rule 5 (prohibited peoples) and not as leeway. You might well think the person picked is allowed, but those exceptions to Rule 5 are remarkably rare cases (imo) and the ref's decision on this particular matter is final. Thank you. But to be specific, I meant if the person goes onto do some noteworthy ie that might show up on a cursory first page Google search other than "cancer mum Sun newspaper sob stories" and a "gofundme".

Well, I've not met any of them. The analyses are cold by default, it's people assessing others chances of death after all. In short, for Pan Breed alone (for time, etc) - I remember when John McCain offered the C4N guy a cup of tea back in 2000. I rooted for him to win the primaries, but he lost to Bush. I still think he'd have been a better President than Bush or Gore (why is it always Clinton associates who fail to campaign in really easy Democrat states and then lose them?). Also, his "I slept like a baby" response to losing the Presidency in 2008 was really funny. - I remember when Kathleen Blanco got left holding the can at Hurricane Katarina. - Interesting point about Patrick Cryne - it's very easy to cut and run in his situation, and I doubt many would have begrudged him selling to the first American billionaire. Instead, his family are major shareholders, the council own part of the land so it can't be sold off for a quick buck, and he's got some of his friendly co-millionaires to invest in the club after he's gone. Bar curing his own cancer, Cryne could have done little else to try and protect Barnsley football club after he's gone. That's basically what the younger members of my family will be like for him, they ADORED LazyTown, like how I adored Timmy Mallet when I were 3, or the wean loves that bloody Mr Tumble. - I remember watching Liam Miller's goal againt Lyon live, after 28 passes. I jumped out of my seat and applauded, and I never do that for Old Firm goals. How he'd achieve that from Plaid, I'm not sure. - I have listened to Devin Lima's song. It is shit. I still don't wish cancer on him.

Some might ask how I would deal with a Cas Willow situation in this 2018 Deathlist Cup, and with some justification, given we had one last year with Ms Torr! So this is my ruling in advance: If a person's death can be found before the 1st of the month by Google (ie news, blogs, the persons own website, Bleeding Cool or Doctor Who Online or other specialist websites and so on that come up on a Google search), then the competitor should have warned the ref, and this person cannot be substituted. If a person's death can be found before the 1st of the month solely by social media or other means (ie private Google+ groups, Facebook, tweets, etc etc) then the competitor will get the benefit of the doubt, and their first available subsitute will come into play. Unless this is after the 2nd of the month, of course. If no one had a clue about the person's death, of course a sub comes into play as normal in the time period. I hope this will clear up such incidents before any arise!

I was asleep, you know! Define "care". Of the 60 people on my 3 teams, the only two I wouldn't raise a glass to are the two murderers. There are some I outright hope buck the trend - Falkholt, Lewis - and others I have outright sympathy for their condition. I take no joy from the actual death (it's just part of life) but after the Tony Benn debacle*, I don't pick people who mean massive amounts to me on a personal level. Hence complete lack of Mr Lambie on any of my teams. *My team in 2013 was shit. Benn was ill. I picked him the next year as a sort of jinx to try and keep him alive. Failed. Very sad. Not repeating that. Hope that helps!

There was a doc few years ago, I forget the name, about some Americans having a crisis of faith when they realise Lincoln was basically a politician who did everything for political gain rather than some guy with a Messianic right and wrong complex from the start. Something about the Americans wanting their heroes to be superheroes. Whereas I think great people are far more interesting when they have more personal flaws than a chocolate teapot.

A few days ago it was -24 in Calgary. (That's minus 11 in Farenheit!) The weather forecast has it improving to averages of -7 (19F) in the next week. That article says they were measuring -40 this week! PS King Penguins tend to be the ones which you find in places like the Falkland Islands (similar weather to Scotland), or the islands before Antarctica. So acclimatized to more "normal" cold weather (by North Canada/Europe or south South America averages) than extreme like Canada got this week.

I have met a Deathlist miss in the past and he was a complete cunt. But given my ghost joke doesn't work yet, Olivia de Havilland, given she is basically living film history.

There's also a news article referring to the death of *another* of the early same sex marriage people from last month, and references Willow without saying she is dead. Entire thing has an element of French farce about it now, can't help but laugh.
