Suicide attempt, imo. Police named the area as the Benalder Bridge. There is a brick wall you could imagine an idiot jumping over and not noticing the bloody bridge right in front of them, but it's on the other side of the river from the Sanctuary night club. Could he have left the nighclub and got over to that side of the river bank first? Not without noticing there was a big fucking river in the way. The other option is he walked through the carpark to the accom on the river bank on the Dumbarton Rd side at the bridge. If they did that, you can tell from car park level there's a bloody river. At the very least, you can hear the damned thing. Something's happened and he's tried to respond to jumping into a particularly shallow and rocky bedded bit of a fast flowing river. Two other facts. Emergency services were called at 2.30am. He wasn't rescued till 4am. Which implies its own story about what happened next. The Kelvin is freezing. There's a drag current as that's a few hundred metres away from the mouth into the River Clyde. Reports say hypothermia, if he escapes with that, and that alone, he's a bloody luck chap. Put it this way, he's not going to be on the teamsheet this weekend...

Drunks with Guns. Sounds like a new reality show.

Oh, has she died? There's a big 7 points for the Drollercoaster's top 10 DDP challenge. The surprise being that she lasted to August, rather than dying soon in the year, of course.
-
Nothing wrong with a random list of really old people. That was my first ever shadow list in 2011. Centenarians! Three of whom are still alive! Also, if someone picked 20 random old folk on the DDP and they all died, that'd be worthy of praise. The odds against that must be staggeringly high.

Some potted highlights from that Telegraph obit. Quite the fascinating character.

According to poster on Pie and Bovril (yeah, I went to check for details, before Detective Charon asks ), jumped over a wall, into the Kelvin. What fucking wall? If you're coming to it from Dumbarton Road, you couldn't help but notice the fucking river.

Scottish Sun says aye.
-
Well that's just going to confuse decrepit minds like myself.
-
"Was it six heart attacks or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself.
-
That, or its befitting one of the all time world famous legends. You decide.
-
No, @Zsa Zsa's leg, I think you'll find this one is the longest.
-
Aye, but both extremes, and should be roundly denounced by everyone.

Shir Shean Shonnery.

Basic arseholery doesn't need its own spot on the political spectrum, plenty of them at both ends. And indeed in the middle.
-
Then again, some obscurer picks (not unfamous ones) seem to get Daily Mail coverage only after mentioned on here.

I'd thank you, only I dropped him at the very last minute for Alan Aspin, so feck. Hewlett/Skellern/Snuka/Wetton out, Holmlund/Baghdadi/Suisala/Aspin in... wont go down in history as one of the smartest moves in DDP history, really.
-
Aye, but as they say, if you don't want a name getting out there, don't mention them! Else it's a gift horse, etc.
-
You know its going to be a long game when "only 10 hits behind" is a promising spot!
-
No, they're really not.

Bit of a thing for Radio Times interviewees, then. Back in 1996, Jon "God" Pertwee was interviewed by them, stating that he was looking forward to his next big acting role but "at my age, Venusian aikido might be a tall ask!" By the time I read that in the then current issue, he'd been dead for a few days!

Chap saved baby, got shot. Woman shagged Ian Fleming. Bruce forsyth hated his life, Strictly and was miserable about his lack of success. Brian Aldiss thought he was Dickens. Woeful episode, really.

Wifebeater vs patron saint of Plastic Paddies
msc replied to Spade_Cooley's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Why watch it on PPV? Wake up Sunday morning (it's tomorrow, right?), come on this forum, and Charon will have the entire match in youtube (ok, gif) posted on here, no doubt, for everyone to enjoy. -

It was a get around iirc - lots of dodgy folk with money invested in it, veiled threats and all that. Either that, or the carny out carny'd everyone. -
People say that Mother Theresa (meh) was overshadowed by Diana (boo) but both overshadowed poor old Burgess Meredith, who died a few days later. So much so, I didn't find out he had died for another four months! Meredith wins out easily over those 2 in my book. True story, we were near Stuttgart (on route to Italy) when news of Theresa's death hit. There was a picture in the local paper of the Pope, on the floor, crying over the news, but the main headline was about a case where a bullfighter had been gored badly (killed) by a bull. The headline? Finally the bull wins!
