Hope she's okey, it would be really tragic if such a young girl dies at sea. She has been found alive.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2011

There has been high drama on The Archers this week. One of the programme's longest serving characters, Sid Perks, landlord of The Bull, has been written out of the show. Tuesday's episode ended with the news that he had collapsed and died of a heart attack while jogging on holiday in New Zealand. I haven't been this shocked since Joe Grundy battered his ferrets to death back in 2000 . The relevance to this thread is that, according to a few posters on Archers forums, Alan Devereux, who had played Sid since 1962, is very ill and has had to give up his acting role for health reasons. I was going to start an Archers thread, but I had a feeling it would sink like a stone...

That name rings bells with me, I am sure that I recognise it as a user name on a forum I have frequented. I even checked the member list on DL, but no one of that name here. It's bothering me now, I'm sure it's death related as well, maybe alt.obits or Findadeath. I'm not sure why I'd be so pleased to find out I'd corresponded with a serial killer, but I would. I like his Amazon wishlist They've removed it. Ah, that's a shame. I know he's a serial killer (allegedly) and therefore a very nasty piece of work, but, even so, I thought he had a fascinating selection of intended reading matter and films. One of the movies he wanted someone to buy him was David Lynch's classic "Lost Highway". The reason that caught my eye is because one of the more surreal scenes in this very surreal film involves the leading character, convicted murderer Fred, turning in to someone else (called Pete) overnight while in his prison cell, leaving his confused captors with no choice but to release him as they had no business detaining a man different to the one they had originally locked up. Anyway, later in the film, Pete metamorphoses back in to Fred again and continues on his merry way, before killing someone else. In light of Mr Griffiths' recent suicide attempt, I was wondering if he might have spent the last week trying to turn in to somebody completely different, failing miserably and then deciding to top himself, before failing miserably at that as well.

In hospital after a failed suicide attempt. It looks like a bit of an amateurish effort, but he'll have all the time in the world to perfect his technique.

    Maryport!!!

Derrick Bird is a new entry at number 23 on the All Time Greatest Spree Killers By Number Of Victims Charts! Congratulations Derrick! I would have thought that in the history of mankind, someone might have been able to kill more than 61 people in one go. The record held by Woo Bum-kon is very impressive, but I still think someone with the right weaponry, attitude, focus and sense of injustice, stood in Oxford Street during the busy Christmas shoppping period could polish off a lot more than that. Spree killings are generally a strange old business, it can be hard to make sense of the senselessness of it all. They're so rare in the UK, though. I'm surprised that it doesn't happen more often here - someone different having their 'Falling Down' moment and completely losing the plot every other week.

    Room 101

Take some solace from this, Godot. These are all the lucky (or persistent) buggers who got over the hurdle. It's no fun to be standing on the other side of the wall looking up. I'm reminded of W H Davies, the poet who hawked his poems from door to door then burned a load of them in despair. I bet there has been a lot of good stuff that has never seen the light of day. How's about a few juicy excerpts, Godders old fruit? We're all literary critics here, you know. I'm still cut up about how few people on god's green earth have yet to have the pleasure of hearing any of the Winterset oeuvre, but hey. How about a public reading to generate interest? Maybe just a chapter or two to whet the curiousity of a publisher or two, and cut out the pimp middleman? It's kind of ironic that you have to jump through hoops to find someone to take 25% of whatever profits you make. And here's another vote for a few juicy excerpts. What? Like this one? If you should unfortunately kick the bucket I'm sure Godot's Mum will get your Moominthingy published, a la John Kennedy O'Toole. Dying might help. It's always a bit of gamble, but your tragic demise, tempered only by the discovery of your final masterpiece, etc, etc.

    Frank Bough

He could spontaneously combust, or be hunted down and eaten by wolves, or even get Tasared to death during a tense stand off with police. You need to adopt a bit of blue sky thinking every now and again when it comes to the deathlist.
