    Beer

Beer gets off lightly in the budget, as the Chancellor targets cider drinkers. This is a very serious issue and could cause a revolt in the West Country. The Goverment are deliberately targetting a region where they never get MPs elected to raise extra tax revenue. I saw a burning effigy of something resembling Alistair Darling when I was driving home tonight. I've never been a fan of New Labour, now they can go to hell.

    Academy Award Winners

Another one to add to the list is the producer John Calley, who received an honorary Oscar award in December, but he was too ill to attend the ceremony. That was enough for me to put him on my DDP team, but I still haven't managed to find out quite what is wrong with him.

    Summer Olympic Deaths/Dead Medallists

Wayne Collett, 60, 400m silver medalist at the 1972 Munich Olympics, has died of cancer. He achieved some infamy for misbehaving during the playing of the national anthem at his Olympic medal ceremony. He and 400 gold-medal winner Vince Matthews stood with hands on hips and talked during the anthem in a protest of U.S. civil rights policies back home. They were both subsequently expelled from the games. Picture here.
