Albert Scanlon has died aged 74, which is exactly why I'm not submitting my DDP team yet... Oh dear. How about replacing him with Brian Godfrey, former Exeter City Manager, who also captained Aston Villa and was capped by Wales? He has leukaemia. In the event, no one picked Brian Godfrey on the DDP. We won't get another chance next year.

Flutist* Sir James Galway has pulled out of an upcoming preformance for unspecified medical reasons. As the show in question isn't until March 18th, it does suggest the health problem might be a bit more than a bout of 'flu or a sprained ankle. One to keep an eye on. *Maybe it should it be "flautist", "flute-player", "fluteist" or "flutomater" ?

Hakimullah isn't the media, Devon. The media never sets any limits. That's why you are feeling drained and hopelessly overwhelmed by the games they play. It leaves you to wonder if anything is real. All of a sudden the media says those pictures you took were fake. Before you know it, the word will be that your working with the Taliban to fake Hakimullah's death. So, when is your flight? Welcome to the twilight zone by the way. .. Post fades out Well, he seems to be dead again today. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/a...KbATPsTlbxZrBhQ -

Are they 100%, absolutely, categorically, unswervingly sure? I'll swear that chap in the pic is the guy in Eastenders who used to be a Postman... That's enough for me. That was what I was waiting for... Then again, maybe not? It could be that the best tactic the Pakistan Taliban could use is to declare him dead but he may not necessarily have died... I fear, TMIB, that you may be correct to hold your horses on this one. I got a bit carried away with my earlier post, Hakimullah Mehsud seemed very dead in the press this morning, but seems to have resumed his Schrödinger's cat routine during the day. I know the rules frown upon murdering DDP candidates, but I was wondering if he does turn out to be alive, if I could get special dispensation to hunt down and kill the bastard myself before handing in the carefully photographed evidence of his demise? I do like the Taliban spokesman's daily positive updates in the face of the massive onslaught of death rumours about his leader, he reminds me a bit of Comical Ali. -
DDP update? Will it change the positions? Master Mind the winner? Has anyone told Mr Scream. No, no, no and no, I'm afraid.

Gotcha. -
Probably but in this context it has all the allure of reheating leftovers from Sunday dinner. He's unlikely to trouble the 2011 Deathlist IMHO. Algirdas Brazauskas is still alive, but the Lithuanian government is already starting to prepare for his funeral.

It's probably of little concern to most, but another language has bitten the dust with the death of the Andaman Islands' Boa Sr. I don't know why, but this depresses me more than the loss of Hollywood starlets to drugs or some such thing. So it should depress you, the damage visted on the Andamanese and Onge tribes by the forces of Western Imperalism - and more latterly colonisation from the Indian mainland - amount to nothing less than genocide. Talking of the Andaman Islands, I've had a long fascination with the good folks of North Sentinel Island, who are possibly the least understood people on earth. If anyone else is interested in this sort of thing and has a few minutes to spare, the article by Adam Goodheart is a very informative read: http://www.andaman.org/BOOK/reprints/goodh...p-goodheart.htm For further reading I can also highly recommend "Land of Naked People" by Dr Madhusree Mukerjee.

Alive? It looks like Mr Mehsud is in the same quantum state as Schrödinger's cat. I suppose physicists would like a word with him. regards, Hein I'd like a word with him as well, as he's seriously affecting my DDP chances. I'm damned if I can find an email address or phone number for him, though. hakimullah@taliban.pk bounced back as undeliverable! -

Tongan philosopher and historian 'Ilaisa Futa 'i Ha'angana Helu has died at the age of 75. Should the English press find out about his demise, that'll be a unique pick on the DDP for my favourite theme team, the wonderfully adventurous "Let's Drop An Atomic Bomb On Oceania!!!".

ABC News seem pretty sure he is dead and are reporting that the Pakistani Taliban are meeting today to decide on their new leader. However some news sources are saying that the Taliban have declared they are going to release a new video of Hakimullah Mehsud "in the next few days". God knows what's happening, he'll probably turn up on Celebrity Come Dancing next.
