Cricket Thread. Only Mad Dogs And Englishmen

Excuse my ignorance as I've never heard of him. Is he as English as Kevin Pietersen? Or just another ringer. "...but, for mine own part, it was Greek to me." He was actually born in England, but grew up in Australia - hence his cricketing skills.

Daniel Geiges, alleged uranium smuggler and the man credited with getting Libya, Iran and North Korea fixed up with nuclear technology, is seriously ill with colon cancer. He is about to go on trial in South Africa for contravening the "Non-Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction Act", but the proceedings have been prosponed because of his poor health. Not too sure about his obit chances though.

    Jane Tomlinson Killer Ride

I think I'd prefer drive by ranters to utter silence. I mean, it's obvious that people hate us, but when the hate isn't articulated in written prose...you can only imagine what people might be thinking. It's all a bit of a moral conundrum for a Monday afternoon, I think I'm going for a lie down. RIP Jane and all that.

    The Dead - 2007

"The King of the Gypsies". Bare knuckle boxing champion Eli Frankham Junior, has died of a heart attack at the age of 43. At the time of his death he was facing jail for breaching his ASBO, the terms of which asked him nicely: Measuring 6ft 8inches tall and weighing in at 21 stones, he was mentioned in the press when he turned up at the trial of Tony Martin, the Norfolk farmer who was convicted of murdering a gypsy. He was escorted from the courtroom by police after twenty minutes for "glowering at the jury in a threatening manner"

    Ideas and possibilities for 2008

This thread is for ideas and possibilities and that's all they were. I'm not saying they should be picked so no need to be so aresy. I'm sure it was mentioned on News at Ten when one of the Kendal twins died so it does happen. Anyway your post reminds me, no-one did get back to me on wheteher conjoined twins should be one pick or two. I'm not sure about this, but don't they usually die around the same time (I know Cheng and Eng did, I'm not sure if that was just a coincidence or if there's a biological reason for it)? If that were the general case, I'd say one, because there's no chance for one not to die when the other does. If one can survive (depending on what organs are shared), then I'd say it could count as two because there's a chance that one could survive the year when the other does not. I think you'd have to do it on a case-by-case basis, until more information could be obtained. I was considering picking cojoined twins for next years DDP - in fact I emailed the DDP organisers to check it would be OK. Here is their response: On the subject of twins - how about Austria's Sandra and Daniela Klemenschits? They were up there somewhere in the world tennis doubles rankings before they were both struck down with abdominal cancer.

Nick Du Toit / Simon Mann / Mark Thatcher

Simon Mann's nemesis, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, is visiting Zimbabwe this week. His official reason for visiting is to open the annual Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (which could be interesting, seeing as nothing seems to grow in Zimbabwe any more) However some press reports say he is visiting for rather more sinister reasons: Simon Mann's fate sealed by Obiang's visit to Zimbabwe Obiang's very presence in Harare bodes ill for Simon Mann. No doubt his outstanding appeal against extradition to Equatorial Guinea has been discussed at the highest level. Robert Mugabe's longing for oil from Guinea will almost certainly prevail and Obiang will get what he wants for Christmas this year – Simon Mann tucked up in his cell in Black Beach Prison, Malabo. Simon Mann's immediate future is so spine chillingly terrible, that I am considering the ultimate sacrilege of replacing him with Nick Du Toit in next year's DDP. I personally think he would be an ideal addition to DL 2008.

He's still off sick, but very little conclusive information about his health. This site says he has kidney problems. The Independent mentioned a full month ago that Other than that, there seems to be a total news blackout. It's funny how the man in charge of the Daily Mail is afforded more privacy than many of his publication's hapless victims.
