I think my few hours in the lead on new year's day means I've led the DDP in eight different years. Also thrilled that after failing to pick a unique pick for the first time ever last year, my only one this year dropped dead within hours of the new competition starting. Finally I must be getting soft in my old age... I know about a terminally ill young poet who will get an obit, but I thought she was so lovely I couldn't bring myself to pick her. Fortunately no one else has either. The Living End of a decade ago would have jokered her without giving it a second thought. Thank you committee for your efforts .

I'm just starting some leave from work - the first time I've had more than one day off - including weekends - since April 20th! So I've got out of bed early to make sure I get my money's worth, otherwise I am so tired that I could just doze through the next week. Am going to look into my 2021 DDP entry later. For a while I genuinely thought I might have to give it a miss due to other life stresses getting in the way. I don't need to win, but I do want to be there. Thanks to my admin colleagues in Paul Bearer and Death Impends for picking up the slack while I ignored PMs, reported posts, thread crimes, etc. I'd like to wish everyone a belated happy Christmas and a prosperous 2021. Better days are coming!

I have given this some thought over a cup of tea and a biscuit (garibaldi). I think this thread is fine and I see no reason to merge it with anything. I'm just pleased to have the great Octopus posting regularly again, I trust his judgement and am not about to start moderating his input (unless he PMs half the forum with p0rn and calls them ****s), even then I'd probably ask him nicely not to do it again. I don't want to sound dismissive, but the energy we expend on this forum squabbling about thread etiquette could possibly power a small town for a fortnight. Should we not be asking ourselves how we might harness this energy in a more constructive way?
