    Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah

What if he dies and get's a big (I mean HUGe) writeup in the papers? Won't you feel somewaht miffed that you left him off? Not really. Win some, lose some and all that. Out of curiosity, I checked to see if there were any changes to his Arabic wiki. Nothing since November, and nothing substantial for quite some time - it's worse than the English one. He's number one on my 'Men With Very Fine Names' theme team, closely followed by Bartholemew Ulufa'alu and Patriarch Maxim.

    Mad about Moderators

I really don't mind your doing that MH, despite the fact that I am definetly not mad (in the positive or negative sense) about mods. So can anyone tell me- what are the criteria for selecting moderators? I don't want to criticise, I would just like to know. I have it on good authority that at the DeathList Annual Gathering, the names of members are scattered on seperate bits of paper across the floor. A bull (or a sheep in bad years) then has it's throat slit and whichever member's name the blood splatters on will then be put forward for the position of moderator.

    Football

Dundee winger Andy McLaren has obviously got a short fuse. During Saturday's loss to the mighty Clyde he managed to get sent off three times in the same match - Once for striking an opposing player, once again for striking another opposing player after he had received his red card and then a final time when he told the referee in no uncertain terms what he thought of the first two decisions. Respect.

Number 12 - Who, If Anyone?

When the first 10 people on the list died, I voted for Barbera every time. This time I didn't bother. Now he's dead.

    Not Exactly Famous...

Is there any other state to which it is possible to be murdered? Just steer clear of Florida and you'll be fine.

    The Canadian Paul Deadpool

I already know the theme team I going to pick next: People With Very Fine Names. I did pick an Ecclesiastical All Stars theme team for the HDP, but I lost it and I damned if I can remember who I picked , I'm going to replace that one with: Men With Beards.

South African musician, singer, songwriter, playwright and producer Taliep Petersen, 56 has been murdered to death.

    Tammy Faye Messner

Come on Tammy you can make '07 and give us a DDP and possibly (if the committee decide) DeathList an early hit. I'm a prayin' for ya Tammy, hang on in there. Families don't tend to sit around bedsides waiting for 17 days. I don't think she's going to make it. Which is a shame as I've submitted my DDP team already, looks like Saddam Hussain might be promoted from the substitutes bench.

There's also this annonucement on the Mud website Dave Mount was born on March 3rd making him 59 when he passed away Apparently he topped himself. Shame. Maybe he didn't want to be lonely this Christmas. [Posts moved from "Near Misses" -- MH]

    Ahmet Ertegün

I had heard of him, CR. I happen to own an Atlantic Records 40th anniversary compilation CD, the comprehensive sleevenotes were written by Ahemet Ertegun. He was certainly a big fish within the music industry.

How many people can be arsed scanning obscure Pacific Island newspaper websites to see how certain politicians are doing, yet the information on their leaders' wellbeing usually ends up on here. VT, I hope you are not inferring that Bartholomew Ulufa'alu might not quite cut the mustard as a DL pick?

    Ideas and possibilities for 2007

Hay good spot DevonDeathTrip. Looking for his age - but his points for the illnesses alone stack up to 226. Only problem being the chap has so many things wrong with him it would be a suprise if he makes it into 2007. My best guess would be an exit in under 3 weeks. At a streach its even a tight call to list him without him dieing in the final hours of 2006. You were right RA. He's dead

I don't know anything about computers but Bruce Fraser, who is supposed to be a world renowned expert on pixels, colours and digital imaging thingys has terminal lung cancer Not sure if he's famous at all, he has no Wiki page, but plenty of mentions on Google. I thought I'd mention him anyway because he's so ill.

    2007 DL Nominations Please

Pavarotti, he's very famous (I would think all Deathlisters would have heard of him prior to his diagnosis) and very ill with pancreatic cancer.

Nervous Breakdowns- Who's Had One And How??

The former England footballer, Terry Cooper had a nervous breakdown when he was the manager of Exeter City. He stopped his car at the side of the road, decided he couldn't go on anymore and waited for someone to come and rescue him.

Gloria Arroyo, President of The Phillipines, has recently been in hospital for the third time this year. Despite official assurances that her health is fine, it is rumoured in her homeland that she has serious liver ailments, possibly as a result of alcohol abuse.

    Dead Drummers

Dave Black, jazz drummer who toured and recorded with Duke Ellington's big band, has died of pancreatic cancer aged 78. Onstage he liked feigning blindness and playing drums with a walking stick. He outlived his son, Lawrence "Brittley" Black, a heavy metal drummer who died from diabetic complications in 2004.

    Ahmet Ertegün

He's off the respirator and talking, so it sounds as though he will probably recover, but you can never tell with head injuries. You were right Tempus, head injuries can go either way. News in today "Dr. Howard Riina, his neurosurgeon, told Reuters in a telephone interview that the music industry legend "sustained a severe brain injury after a fall. He's in a deep coma and in critical condition. His chance of a meaningful recovery is small."" Back on the list he goes...

    J051e Gr0ve

And there was me thinking she would be a unique pick! I'm backing away from the idea of picking her now, partly because she might hang on like Jane Tomlinson and also because head office (Mrs Death Trip) has told me in no uncertain terms that Josie's selection will not be acceptable - although those weren't the exact words she used.

    Hunger Strikers

The tribunal now ordered that he be force fed. Traitors. regards, Hein I don't really get force feeding. What is to stop Seselj sticking his fingers down his throat and vomiting up what has just been forced in to his gullet?
