What Are You Listening To Right Now?
DevonDeathTrip replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
@maryportfuncity , have you ever had the pleasure of listening to the box set Atomic Platters: Cold War Music From The Golden Age Of Homeland Security? It's full of obscure 50s ballads and ditties about our impending doom. You'd love it! -
When I saw the late Dave Swarbrick perform a few years ago, he talked about a night out with Grace Slick in the early 1970s, saying it was a memory he treasured. Someone in the audience asked if they took acid together, but as Swarbrick was deaf as a post by this point, he never replied.

The death toll from the third series of Twin Peaks is already frighteningly long.

'World renowned roboticist', Dr Peter B Scott-Morgan, has decided to become a cyborg in an attempt to counter the effects of motor neurone disease...

French cycling legend Raymond Poulidor, 83, is in rapidly failing health according to recent news reports. He is currently in hospital and this article (in French) doesn't paint a very rosey picture. Poulidor never actually won Le Tour, but did manage to finish second or third on no less than eight occasions. He's cycling royalty and highly obitable - if for nothing else than featuring in this iconic photograph, doing battle with Jacques Anquetil in the mountains.

Thai judge Kanakorn Pianchana shoots himself in court after delivering a speech about injustice. He is recovering in hospital and who knows what entertainment he has in mind for 2020.

I like to think of it as temporarily vacated whilst the pool's erstwhile host deals with some personal intranquilities of an unspecified nature.

I think bonus points should be awarded in this case. There is some precedent from the 2011 DDP when James C Tyree, who was suffering from advanced cancer was actually finished off by an embolism caused by an air bubble in his morphine injection.

I Feel Free would be the stand out track for me.

Following the death of Robert Hunter, three of the four surviving members of the Grateful Dead - Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Billly Kruetzmann - were quick to pay tribute. However there has been no comment from Phil Lesh, which I find surprising. Lesh cancelled a run of gigs last month as he was scheduled for 'routine back surgery'... Edit -False alarm, Lesh has in fact paid tribute:

Re Thomas Cook - I was wondering if we should leave the stranded tourists where they are, refuse to repatriate them and use them as bargaining chips in our Brexit negotiations instead.

Nooooooo! One very sad Deadhead here

As well as the three bonus points on offer for a unique pick, is there any chance of awarding two points for a duet and one point for a trio?

Not to detract from the dreadful delivery of our Tibetan/Zimbabwean/Egyptian/Irish OP, but Raoni is not a bad shout actually. I didn't realise he was so old (89) and he's a cert for proper obituaries. Just been nominated for the Nobel peace prize as well.

I did give serious thought to giving Kirubi a run out on this year's DDP, but was worried about him getting the right obits. Might have to revisit that next year if he makes it.

one dead Gerry Adams & Martin McGuinness

Interesting photo in that article - I never knew Adams was a pipe smoker. @Grim Up North, one for your theme team? -
Sheila Hancock was a guest panellist on this week's Just a Minute, and sounded a bit confused I thought - incorrectly buzzing in, obviously repeating words and blathering on about having her kitchen adapted so everything was in reach. She certainly didn't sound as alert as Nicholas Parsons, who poked fun at himself by wondering "if I've yet reached the midway point of my broadcasting career".

@Kinnock, either calm down a bit, or carry on like this and have another few days off. Your choice, but please give it some thought before launching into your next stream of vitriol. Many thanks DDT

I think pipe smoking bowls player David Bryant is still with us and knocking on a bit now. -
Famous farmers and agricultural people
DevonDeathTrip replied to Hosni Mubarak's topic in DeathList Forum
My neighbour Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, possibly the first black man to ever set foot in Holsworthy, might be a good candidate. However he's only 60 and in good health as far as I'm aware. Just thought I'd mention him, as I have a suspicion that Hosni was waiting for a few suggestions, before grumbling about the lack of diversity on this thread. -
