I've always thought that dressage, which appears to comprise of sitting on a horse and making it walk in circles around a sandpit, a pretty strange sport.

Vagrants, Tramps, Homeless Eccentrics And Hermits
DevonDeathTrip replied to VSBfromH's topic in DeathList Forum
Tea Cosy Pete, aka Teabag, possibly Swansea's most famous vagrant, has died of a stroke at an unspecified, but quite advanced age. http://www.southwales-eveningpost.co.uk/Swansea-homeless-man-Tea-Cosy-Pete-dies-following/story-25929552-detail/story.html -
Thread locked on account of being pointless, useless and a duplicate of a pre-existing pointless, useless thread which asks exactly same question. DDT (Older than he once was, but younger than he will be soon)

There was a mention in the week's Popbitch missive that Tom Watkins, former manager for East 17 and the Pet Shop Boys, is unwell. A bit of googling brings up this article from last June, confirming he in fact has liver cancer. Despite this, no one has picked him on the DDP... Will we get another chance next year?

Even if he gets found not guilty, the lyrics to his song The Black Cloud of Islam - conspicuous by it's absence from youtube - may ruffle some extremist feathers. Hopefully Harper's new found prominence won't mean his back catalogue comes to the attention of ISIS....although I suppose it isn't entirely likely that a bunch of crazed jihadists will sit around the campfire in Syria listening to McGoohans Blues.

Remaining In A Standing Position After Death
DevonDeathTrip posted a topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Can a person remain standing after their time is up? I assumed that anyone who happened to die on their feet would just drop to the floor. But in my dream of Hannah Hauxwell freezing to death at night, she was found in a standing position, albeit propped up by a walking frame. This has made me wonder. Apparently there was the "Standing Death of Benkei", but other than that, there does't seem to be much precedent. Someone on Yahoo answers reckons a lightning strike might do the trick, but I'm not sure. -

Extra legs must come in handy as, this desert fox has managed it http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=900_1421242142 I still think it might be possible with a walking frame. -
Chuck Berry hasn't played a gig for three months. He says he's "taking a break for winter".

I like the llama scene in Twin Peaks, mainly because of Michael Ontkean's efforts to keep a straight face.

Time triallist Gary Dighton, who took part in the team event at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, has committed suicide, aged 46.

So this thread isn't about the schism in the Church of Scotland?

I suppose it was just a crazy dream. Branwell Bronte stood up to die, but no doubt toppled shortly afterwards. -
Fear not, Atuthi Prasad - a unique for Death Impends - has answered the call.

Who the Dickens is that? Dunno, but I'd have great expectations of success if I picked him... Hmm I posted him as a possible a while ago hereabouts. His current health problems might just explain a trend I spotted on the last Deathrace entries. Little Jimmy Dickens is "recovering"....

Yes! Sorry to be difficult, but (if I understand you correctly) I don't want my potential DDP unique picks compromised before midnight. That's why I think having the deadline on 30th causes problems. I think I'd prefer to withdraw my entry if you want to go ahead with this. Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick.
-
Let them in. What's with the 30th Dec deadline anyway?

I'd been planning to include Hannah Hauxwell on my list, for no other reason than I had this really vivid dream several months ago that she walked out of her house one night, got lost and froze to death in the snow. Upon further reflection, I've decided to drop her from the squad, but thought I would mention it here, just in case she's in the headlines in the next couple of months having been found encased in ice on a snowy hillside, up in the Dales.

An obituary and a Christmas Day bonus.

I caught a bit of The Invisible Age, a documentary about society's perception of the elderly, on R4 today. Two nonogenarian English philosophers, Mary Midgley (95) and Mary (Baroness) Warnock (90) were wheeled out to give their views. It's hard to assess their health based on a radio interview, but both sounded very mentally alert and their appearance also reminds us that they are still alive. Mary Midgely commented on how she couldn't help thinking that everyone was wondering when she would die. It's shame there wasn't a post-show radio phone in where a R4 listener of a deadpooling persuasion may have been given her the opportunity to question her further on this point.

Am I okay to PM you my teams this year? Yeah, sure... I'd quite like to submit my team by fax, but I can't find a number on the site.
