Celine Dion's husband René Angélil has undergone surgery to remove a tumour from his throat.

Thread locked. Jesus wept, Deathray, this is a shocking effort, completely devoid of any redeeming features and with a schoolboy spelling error in the subtitle. Please try harder. All of the Prime Ministers mentioned above have their own threads. John Major Tony Blair David Cameron Gordon Brown So does Mary Wlson. We also have a Political Frailty thread, and a Widows thread, which serve their purpose very well.

Whilst at work today and relying on text updates to keep up to date with Exeter City's progress against York, I received this gem.

Dr. Zorders, Please lighten up a bit. Your posts make for very miserable reading at the moment. Perhaps you could contact another member of these hallowed forums, Tempus Fugit, by PM and arrange to do lunch. I'm sure you'd get on famously and become firm friends. Best wishes DDT

Jane Goodall has been discussed here before....on the Larry Hagman thread, ten years ago! I wonder if her employees still visit this forum?

My, it's VERY breezy outside today in North Devon. I've just seen one of my neighbour's chickens blow past - and my neighbour lives half a mile away. The chicken was not looking entirely in control and heading in the general direction of London. She should be there in about an hour and a half.

In Ireland, campaigners are lobbying President Michael Higgins to offer a pardon to jailed peace activist Maragaretta D'Arcy, who is suffering from cancer and Parkinson's disease.

Gerard Mortier, an impulsive and risky unique pick for me on the DDP, is described by The Guardian to be "gravely ill", but still well enough to attend an operatic version of Brokeback Mountain...

The character outlived the actor, before dying earlier this month. June Spencer -who plays Jack's widow, Peggy - is now 94 and still a regular on the programme. She has just been awarded a lifetime achievement award by the BBC... Also, Colin Skipp, who had played Tony Archer since 1967, retired earlier this month on health grounds.

As noted in his own thread more than 11 hours ago.... Is this our very own Death Watch Beatle, erstwhile DL admin? Have you lost your log in DWB?

Peter Redfern, 70 and suffering from terminal bone cancer, has pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife and daughter and been told he will die in prison.

One Italian music maestro dies, another arrives to take his place. The legendary conductor Claudio Abbado has cancelled all of his upcoming gigs for health reasons. http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5jO85a-...9x3Yd1VMr74KePQ Abbado had a nasty bout of stomach cancer in 2000 and had much of his digestive tract removed. I've got a good feeling about this one.

Another example of comatose royalty is Kardam, Prince of Turnovo, heir apparent to the Bulgarian throne, who has been in a persistent vegetative state since 2010. -
Hi RA, please could I have Joseph Kony added to my list as 2nd sub? Feel free to deduct a point of two for lateness.

My team is in, but only after including Clive James at the very last minute. I've struggled for inspiration this time around and haven't studied the form as closely as I did in previous years, so I don't think I'll be challenging for the lead in 2014. The competitive flame has dimmed a little for me these days. Good luck in your battles to everyone who plays and everyone who is picked.

That's a good pick and he'll definitely get an obit if he finds the back of the net. Seselj has been raised as a possibility for years on these forums. In 2006 he was given weeks to live after going on hunger strike, in 2007 he was inaccurately reported (by me, I think) to have liver cancer and in 2012 he became ill after a pacemaker was fitted.

The Ones That Will Truly Be Missed Who Died In 2013.

Doris Lessing. She had a brilliant mind and I read - and mostly treasured - her entire fictional output. Lessing wrote my all time favourite, Memoirs of a Survivor, and it's sad to think that the force which created this work is no longer with us . RIP Doris, I never looked at a wall the same way again after reading that book.
