Wilko in his prime with Dr. Feelgood in 1976, playing to a group of bemused French townspeople

Ah, one of my unique picks. I meditated for a good few minutes before deciding to select Bernadette Mayer, mainly over obit concerns...

The Sunday Times reported yesterday that the president of Equitorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema, is fighting prostate cancer and heart trouble. He is reported to want to leave office “to fight against death”. His weight is said to have shrunk to about seven stone. I mentioned him last year and got some stick for it, but he'll definately get a UK obit. One wonders what will happen to Nick Du Toit if the president carks it. For my sake, they'd better not let him out.

How's Your 2023 Shortlist Looking?
DevonDeathTrip replied to msc's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I've been keeping a list on my Echo Dot thing, i.e "Alexa, add Rolf Harris to my shortlist". I think it's worked quite well. -
Joss Ackland, according to my dreams.

We are in correspondence with Diego and hope to resolve things in an amicable fashion. Please bear with us on this. -
I'd be interested to know what more learned racing contributors thought about Ross Chastain's 'riding the wall' trick to gain several places in a NASCAR event. Is it the sort of lunatic act that makes him a candidate for this thread, or just a genius at work who had everything under control?

Deeply disappointed at the reinstatement of the appalling Suella Braverman as Home Secretary. She's a wrong 'un and there is something distinctly unsettling about listening to her rabid desire to fly refugees to Rwanda, her demonisation of benefits claimants, or her seriously flawed views about recreational drug users. To borrow a phrase from Ann Widdecombe, I'm convinced there is "something of the night" about Braverman and find it really depressing that Sunak didn't take this opportunity to kick her into touch. In any case, they'll all be lined up and shot when I take charge -

But I'm not entirely sure who the Russians would consider to be the best worst option anyway.

Notable Victims of the Russo-Ukrainian war

An update on Colonel Girkin - he's on his way to the front line, apparently entirely at his own volition. Perhaps we'll soon be hearing about his daring raid on a Nazi pavement from a twentieth floor window -
I saw Nicola Sturgeon's SNP conference speech 'highlights' on the news just now. Does anyone know who the identify of the spectacularly frail looking man she embraced afterwards?

Patriarch Kirill's health has 'sharply deteriorated' according to a Ukrainian news blog (who admittedly might not provide the most neutral of commentaries on this)

Roger Waters, who has skirted around the frayed edges of sanity for a few years now, claims to be on a Ukrainian "kill list" in his latest tirade about the injustices of Western imperialism.

The Russian backed heads of the four newly annexed regions of Ukraine might be worth a shot (perhaps literally, as well as metaphorically) Yevgeny Balitsky - Zaporizhzhia Vladimir Saldo - Kherson, Denis Pushilin - Donetsk 'People’s Republic' Leonid Pasechnik - Luhansk 'People’s Republic' Historically, politicians who collaborate with invading forces often face a day of reckoning and this bunch, as well as their little friend, will be looking over their shoulders for the rest of their lives. I'm not sure they'll all make old bones...

It doesn't look like she's coming back The actresses who play Chelsea and Lilly are both at least ten years older than the characters they play as well.

Patricia Greene sounded much better as Jill tonight. Meanwhile Judy Bennett has retired from the show after a mere 51 years of playing Shula.

Not really a film man, but looking forward to this one: Should be right up there with The English Patient and The Shawshank Redemption. -
A very fine drummer. His work on Bob Mould's cheery album Black Sheets of Rain is something to behold.

Perhaps the multitudes will have already succumbed to exposure and exhaustion by then. Queue is 22 hours and temperature is dropping.

Really sad to read that. I corresponded with her lots a few years ago about various stuff and I know she'd been unwell for a long time. She used to proof read and edit my amateur attempts at writing obits until they looked halfway alright. Bless her, that's a terrible loss for deadpooling. Edit - one of my favourite obits; Amelia hurling abuse at me for picking a boring ex president of Lithuania. A bit further up the page is my attempt to do justice to the Duke of Hamilton.

I'm interested in the prospect of extra deaths occurring in the queue, already five miles long and growing, to file past Queenie's coffin. I don't know how long the wait will be, but I would think at least a couple of patriots won't make it to the right end of the line. Perhaps a hearse could drive continuously up and down the line so everyone gets a good look several times. Or maybe they could get a more hands on experience by passing the coffin over their heads? List of biggest ever funerals here.
