An article for your enjoyment. Just think, when Maggie dies they will be saying this as her flag draped coffin proceeds to St. Paul's Cathedral...

    I Destroy the Royal Family

You don't suppose 2009 may be a bad year for Prince Harry? He is shown to be a racist (again), and he loses his girlfriend and it's not even February yet!
  3. I don't see it that way, W. The connection is that Abraham Lincoln was the president who freed African American slaves and Barack Obama's election has provided another milestone in the struggle for equal rights. It's the same reason that Martin Luther King Jr. used Father Abraham as a backdrop for his "I have a dream" speech. Yes, yes, yes - I was only kidding. Not that there is anything funny about being assassinated like...

    Fidel Castro

Yes, they would go to the trouble of making him look well one day before coming back saying, "Only joking". Those Cubans certainly have a strange sense of humour. He looks perfectly fine to me. Has anybody considered that at the age of 82 he just can't be arsed any more? He just wants to put his feet up and spend the rest of his days catching up on 50 years worth of Coronation Street...

I hate students. Don't know why this enrages me so much - it just does. Bloody students - always taking up a cause. Try walking through any university campus without being handed a flyer. You often get offered free ups of coffee in the street in campus - usually trying to convince you to buy fair trade. Then there are the recycling people who make utterly useless contraptions out of used cola bottles. When the blood donation people come you always get some smug shite come up to you saying how great it is to give blood. Then there are the religious lot that try to tempt you to their church offering free hot chocolates - I only let him off because he was a looker. Then there are the endless promotions offering you cheap alcohol - you can't be a student and not get drunk! Then you get individual students letting you know their beliefs on t-shirts - "abortion is murder". They always moan that the government doesn't do enough to help students financially - yet most of them can still afford top of the range stuff. It's a f**king good job Gaza happened over the Christmas break - I don't think I could have hacked it! Why do students have to be like that? Why can't they just get on with their work? Perhaps I'm just ignorant. I hate students. [End of moan]

    2009 DDP

This story could run and run... Hopefully into 2010. I certainly hope not. Another clinic has stepped in to help her out. I do apologise for cluttering up the DDP thread with stories about this woman. Maybe she could have her own thread?? I never asked OoO at the time because he was so frazzled uploading everything, but will I get an unnatural death bonus if she is starved to death? I don't think it would merit unatural causes points because she is being legally obliged to die 'naturally'. No different than when someone is in a coma for a short while and it is decided not to keep them alive for much longer... Good points, but surely if someone is "legally obliged" to die, then by definition, they will not be dying when Mother Nature might have intended. She is only in this predicament, by way of unnatural causes - a car crash. Just say she'd been in a vegatitive state for a month after a car crash and then died after her machines were switched off, I'd probably get an unnatural death points bonus. Should it make a difference because she's been brain dead for seventeen years? And can being starved to death on purpose ever be thought of as a "natural death"? I won't say anymore on the subject, as I wouldn't want anyone to think that I really am bothered about the extra points. Heaven forbid! Very good point. It is death delayed. I think there needs to be a more detailed set of rules behind the vaguer ones that are on the entry page. One that would definitively set out who counts as 'famous' or 'notable' and what news sources are required for an obit and what is considered a natural or unnatural death. All clauses and sub-clauses and stuff. Like the rules for Association Football. The official rules and regulations of the Derby Deadpool death prediction competition...something like that. Octopus, over to you.... ...I think to merit the extra points for unnatural death, it has to be unexpected. For example, had you chosen her before the car accident (were she not just famous for being ill), that would be fine. However, she was chosen because she had previously been involved in a car accident...and because she was in a coma...and because you were expecting the feeding tube to be removed. She was already in a coma when you chose her, thus removing the feeding tube is as natural a death that you could expect from her.

    The Dead Of 2009

First of all, nobody outside of the celebrity-obsessed Americans gives a sh*t about Heath Ledger, Brad Renfro or Allan Melvin, Heath Ledger was Australian, so I would imagine news of him dying was pretty big there, as it was here in the UK. Also, because people around the world would have seen the latest Batman movie, that elevates the significance of his death to celebrity-obsessed non-Americans too. He's just been nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, and I would imagine the Academy Awards has a fairly broad following in many countries around the world. I didn't know who he was until he was dead. I wouldn't have recognised him if he passed me on the street.

    2009 DDP

Well it kind of is natural - she is in a coma- she can't feed herself-thus she will naturally die...

    The Dead Of 2009

Na. They ended it because they knew they would get away with it under Bush, but were uncertain over what Obama's policy would be. They got their timing just right for the conflict. Start it in the last month of an outgoing president's term, and end it before the new presidency begins. Anyway - Scotland's most infamous football fan has died.

    Edward Kennedy/Curse of the Kennedys

JFK's daughter, Caroline Kennedy, has dropped out of the race to take Clinton's New York seat. You don't think she may be waiting for a certain uncle to pop his clogs? She'd probably stand a better chance of winning the nomination to replace him.

    Barack Obama

I'm looking forward to Obama's first state visit to the UK. He has a dislike for us Brits as we tortured his granda in Kenya. The Queen was, ofcourse, Queen of Kenya from 1952-1964. I'll bet Prince Philip is looking forward to the state visit too. A new DL competition perhaps? What will Prince Philip say to offend Obama?

    Barack Obama

The good news for the Americans is that he can only stand in one more election. Unless he uses his ultra-popularity to change the constitution (and I don't think he is that popular).
