I don't think that this is your normal, 'out with democracy and in with the army' coup. It's likely that the army, like most Thai people, want rid of the current PM and will have a democratically elected PM soon after this carry on is over. The King has been known to stand up for the people before, so perhaps he has decided to call this coup so a new PM can be elected (even though he can probably dissolve Parliament anyway). I doubt the King will allow his country to plunge into an army led dictatorship. Then again, what do I know. I said that Charles Kennedy would still be Lib Dem leader...
