Excellent. Makes way for Prince Philip in my top 50...as a precautionary move...

No.The Queen mum outlived her husband by 50 years Yes - but she wasn't 85 when he died - she was only 51. Nor was she married to him for 64 years. It is also well documented that the Queen Mother was the 'strong' one in her marriage, whereas it has been suggested that the Duke is the source of much of the Queen's confidence.

We kind of guessed that was a possibility when it was reported he was suffering chest pains... He is being treated for a blocked coronary artery.

He is known to suffer from a serious heart condition...so this is not good news at all (depending on your opinion of course).

That was trending on the BBC's most read stories tab last night. He died in January, so god knows why.
-
He has been my joker for the last two years too. He will be on my 2012 DDP, but he won't be my joker.
-
Did you look at this years "unproductive " list? For example at #30? And #17.

State funerals take some planning. This doesn't necessarily mean she is at death's door.

At least we'll make the papers when he dies. Especially if he occupies the number 1 spot.

One of them doesn't sit on a throne at all - Sihanouk abdicated a few years back. Having said that, I did read somewhere recently that he doesn't intend to leave Cambodia again. This is quite significant when you consider he has been kept alive for the last 5 years thanks in no small part to Chinese medical treatment.

Baroness Trumpington - an 89 year old member of the House of Lords: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-16283295 She has become quite well known recently due to her two-fingered-salute in the Lords. Will she 'fade away' in 2012? -
Oh well then. If everybody else thinks he's a legitimate choice, he'll be going on my shadow - at least.
-
He won't make it till 2012.... According to this (Dutch) article he's already in critical condition... Highly doubt if he'll survives the next 11 days.... Ah well. That would solve the problem and settle an argument.

My spreadsheet did indeed contain several errors, now corrected. Thank you. List updated. Here are a few facts and statistics I compiled from it: Total number of candidates: 421 Dead 304 Alive 116 Other 1 Male 353 Female 66 Horse 1 Other 1 Picked while dead: 1989 Wilfred Bramble, William Hartnell 1992 Arthur Marshall, Bette Davis 1994 Bette Davis regards, Hein How can someone be neither alive or dead? Probably someone who is missing...unless Michael Howard was a former DL pick.

What's everybody elses opinions on Heesters being on the deathlist? Would he be a legitimate pick, or would it be clutching at straws given his advanced age? Would this be the equivalent of putting a 108 year old Bruce Forsyth on the list? Or did nobody (with the exception of Hitler, perhaps) take any notice of Heester's career until he was over the age of 100?

MH, 1994: 9 are still alive. I have listed 9, but miscounted. 2004: Your are right - I missed Lom. 2005: Once again I missed out Lom, but you added Jerry Lee Lewis who was not on the list? 2007: You counted J. D. Salinger - who is dead.

I'm not really a fan. We all kind of got the point in his first series...you're Welsh...well done you...

To be fair, her children are probably devoting the same amont of time to her in old age as she devoted to them when children.

You want to have Sky News on 24 hours a day...and be prepared to sprint down a flight of stairs to get to the nearest possible computer...it's totally worth it.

My attempt at an update. Any errors are regretted. Any one Beatle in 1987. Two are still alive. Should they not be on the list ? They probably should be. They were missed out by the person who first drew up the list for this thread, probably because they make the rankings problematic. If you were to add on two survivors for the remaining Beatles, does it mean there were actually 34 entries on the 1987 list?

Christ Alive! They're dropping like flies at the moment.

None of the above. Mainly because it's fairly annoying when people die this late on in the year...

Well done Windy for getting there first. I said to Mrs Rotten that something major may happen overnight. But what I want to know why we're you up at 3:10 am here in the UK to beat US, Canadian and Austrailian members? I'm unemployed. I have no body clock. I was actually in my bed about to turn off the TV when the news flash came up. I had left my laptop down stairs, so I was required to run down stairs just to ensure I posted first. It was an Olympic effort. With regards the Ayatollah - I was speaking of this one: http://www.deathlist.net/?y=2011&p=485
