[bowing]And to think I almost didn't post the caption, as I figured no one would get the reference! [/bowing] I'm all about the good Professor. Consistency is a virtue, dammit. One of these days I'm gonna be right too!

"Kids in the Hall"? I used to watch that show on C4. Why yes! Didn't realise such quality television programming had made it across the pond. Not surprised at all to hear it was on C4!! Positively formative for me, was Kids in the Hall. You are obviously a lover of fine things, and man of good taste.

Kudos to the DL organising committee! Currently 1.33 deaths per month; at this rate, this'll be the most successful DL list in the history of DL lists (I think)! Caspar

I'm squishing your head! (Soz - bit of Canadian humour there. Bit of an obscure reference for this site I know, but it was just so perfect I had to add it in. )

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2006

I only got 26/30. But I reckon it was because taking the test brought repressed "ear training" test experiences of yore to the surface, thus temporarily intermittently traumatising me. Ear training on demand was never my strong point. -
FFS, LB@5O'C, this thread is Njava script:emoticon('', 'smid_1') <_<OT the "post some lists of people, all of whom have received similar accolades" thread, it's a thread in which you are supposed to suggest names of celebrities who are, in your opinion, likely to die (and, therefore, would be good candidates for the deathlist) in 2007. Do you think it's amusing or clever to keep posting long lists of (mostly healthy) people? Are you going to invoke Lord Cthulhu's influence as some sort of lame excuse for this? Come on Mods, please one of you have a word, ffs... I'm sick of trying to highlight this blatant post-whoring, making myself look the twunt; I'm in serious danger of post-whoring myself in the process. Am I the only one who notices/gets pissed-off with this spam? I hope not. Ah... and I thoughtit was just me! I couldn't figure out why these lists of mostly wholly irrelevant people kept being posted, but as I wasn't paying them much heed, I thought maybe I'd somehow missed their relevance. And didn't I read somewhere, LB@5oc, that your "information" is derived primarily from Wiki? They really do seem to be quite useless, and a waste of time generally.

No no no! I take my hat off and defer absolutely to the Captain's quality use of newfangled technologies. I am now and always shall be Old Skool.

Well. I put in one photo and was told I resemble the following: Laura Dern, Jesse McCarthey, Chaim Herzog ( ), Jacques Derrida, Bae Yong-jun, George H.W. Bush ( ), Daniel Day-Lewis ( ), Desmond Tutu ( ), Maggie Cheung, and Mary J Blige ( ). So then I submitted another photo, taken roughly at the same time as the first, just to see... and was presented with the following list: Jake Gyllehaal, Monica Seles, k.d. lang, Zinedine Zidane ( ), Greg Lemond, Fridrich Engels (must be the beard ), Veronica Ferres, Elfrieda Jelinek ( ), Anne Frank ( ), and Sheryl Crow ( ). Kinda doubting the technology at this point... -
D'ya reckon d'em blokes over at Cambridge got it right: Rumour has it they consulted with Alanis on this one.

Sure you posted this in the right thread?

Gimme a break! Wiki is sh*t (the DL entry excepted, of course ). Pat has his/her own Wiki entry, for chrissakes. Since when is having a Wiki entry proof of anything? I'm all for sorting this business out, but I don't think Wiki is the answer. I don't even think the DL candidates should have Wiki links on the DL front list forum page thingy. Wiki is bollocks. Iain (bless him - I have no issues with his sweet yet vain attempts to post relevantly on this site) is proof that Wiki info is unreliable and shoddy at best. Surely we should be relying on actual news stories for our info, even if it's just the Near Misses or Not Exactly Famous threads. I mean, if there isn't a news story about the individual's death somewhere in the world, then perhaps their death shouldn't be posted on this site. That strikes me as a fairly good criteria [editor's note: criterium?]. With regard to the two threads: I think they should be merged into one, semantics notwithstanding. They pretty much have the same stuff posted in them, anyway.

My dear Godot, it pains me to say this, but that last post was below the standards of a Deathlist forum. I'm afraid that it cannot count towards your post total. Regretfully, Life Begins I nivver did nuffing yr honour. I was kind of standing by the thread in my black patent thigh boots and just bent over for a light, honest. And besides, LB@5oc, who the f*ck are you to talk about quality posting? Even if you're being sarcastic, you just look like a schmuk.

A threesome with Thelma and Louise perhaps. It would be all about the timing. Hm. That particular connotation didn't occur to me. Course, haven't seen the film, so that's probably why. Oh well. Still think it'd be a great way to die, overstated lesbianism notwithstanding.

Probably not if you're a bloke. But if you're female it's actually quite amusing. Fair enough point, mpfc. Assuming that by "her secret" you are referring to her longevity, maybe we should consider getting her in for a workshop, to talk about what her secret actually is. Then, we can use the info to vet other DL candidates. As she herself does not qualify for the DL, this would be non-biased research.

For a while now I've had the strangest sensation that when I die, it'll be behind the wheel of a car as a result of my driving very fast. I consider myself (!!!!) to be quite a good driver, but do like to go FAST... well, very fast, actually. So as long as I don't injure anyone else in "the incident", I believe this would be the best way for me to die. Now that I think a bit more about it, I believe that driving at top speed off a cliff would be great. I mean, you get the rush of the speed, then the rush of being airborn, then the rush of freefalling, and then (as long as the cliff was sufficiently high enough) you'd never survive the impact in any way. A huge, flaming fireball at the end of it all would certainly add to the drama of the moment. Of course, I'm not the sort to commit suicide, so all of this would have to occur as the result of a series of misadventures. And given that I am currently living in the middle of the Great Plains, well... not many cliffs around. But what a great way to die! I find the mere thought of it quite exciting!

Mr Fugit, Perhaps you can now impress the ladies with the size of your post... tally... leading to a negation of your latest title. Congrats on having the biggest one here! -
Excellent suggestion! And if they didn't 'play' hard enough, the television audience could get involved and vote them off, "off" being a possible enphemism for "killed". Thus saving the NHS some of the other contestants' hard earned cash. Reality TV taken to the extreme... sounds perfect for C4.

I think that members who have been around for very short periods of time, regardless of the amount of sh*t they have elected to post, should not take it upon themselves to instruct the Mods how to run the forum.

Read Any Good Books Lately?
in eternum+ replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I am very pleased to see that someone has finally mentioned my favourite genre, the Trashy Murder Mystery Novel. May I suggest Martha Grimes' Richard Jury series as a particularly excellent series. Each book, named after the pub around which the story takes place, involves the same set of characters, standard eccentricities in tow: attractive and exceedingly clever detective, ever-dilligent sargent, particularly eccentric millionaire Lord-who-has-abandoned-his-title, etc. Also, there is usually a troubled but quirky and ever-so-clever child involved, often with a pet of some sort. Although stock, these novels are thoroughly entertaining, and involve little to no thought to read, which for me makes a book particularly enjoyable. Other favoured TMMN series include Lillian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who mysteries, although I must admit that when I read the last one (after having not read one for a number of years) it was a bit too mindless and formulaic, even for me. -

Happy Birthday Grim! I hope all of your deathly wishes come true (well, at least 47 of them...). yours slightly-more-grovellingly-than-Hein, ie+ PS. You probably won't get this until after the actual day, but it's still your birthday in my time zone! -
CP, I believe this is Mr Fugit's way of making a point.

Rum? My goodness, do people still drink that? Aside from 15-year-olds, I mean. I hope you're drinking it as part of a cocktail, preferrably one with a paper umbrella and fruit juices. I believe what TF is suggesting, is that perhaps this should be moved to the 'Ideas and Possibilities' thread.
