    Holiday Thread

Have a safe voyage, Cap'n! I hope all goes well for you and Cap'n's Mate, and that you have more luck with the weather down there than here. And as the -ttgs prove: the DL is available in France... Take care! ie+ (PS. Could you possibly keep an eye on news of CLS for me? I do try and check google.fr every now and then to see what's what but, well, I'm not entirely sure how successful my attempts are. Oh okay, let's face it: my attempts are wholly unsuccessful, seeing as how I've yet to turn anything useful up. )

    Death List Convention

I can officially declare that the Second Unofficial DL Get-Together occurred yesterday. I can confirm that it took place, as I was there. I shan't name the other attendees, lest they wish to remain Unnamed, though I can state categorically that I myself was definitely present. Various beverages were consumed whilst thoroughly enjoyable chat transpired. NB: This wasn’t a Get-Together of one. I swear! To prove it, here’s a piccie I took of one of the other attendees as we were sitting down to dine: Irrefutable Proof

    Room 101

Ah! An excellent employment of the expression 'snooze fest', TF. I'm pleased. May I also recommend working 'soporific' - my absolute favourite word - into a sentence every now and then, as did the TMS commentators this afternoon... it was most satisfactory.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2007

Mah! This test makes me sound like a complete snoozefest: Paranoid: Low Schizoid: Low Schizotypal: Low Antisocial: Low Borderline: Low Histrionic: Low Narcissistic: Low Avoidant: Low Dependent: Low Obsessive-Compulsive: Low Geez! Doesn't look like I'll make a very good academic, after all...

Bit behind the times - as per usual lately - but hurrah! Go us! I can feel it in the air: the times, they are a-changin'. I reckon this is the beginning of the end of our dry spell.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2007

Goddamn! I'm away for a while and upon my return I discover that my total worth is a paltry $3,700! Bastards . Still, I'm worth more than nap.
  16. Who woulda thought that rumours of real life continuing in the face of immanent dissertation submission could be true? Happy Birthday!! to all of those I've missed... may you all be one year older. Boudicca: Congratulations!!! to you and your entire entourage on the arrival - how's the lack of sleep going? And of course, many many felicitations!!!! to Lady Grendel on the fundamentally well-deserved promotion.
  17. Thank you all, my lovelies! For those of you who remember the gong show that was my birthday last year, this year was much more enjoyable and low key: shopping, lovely pub, walk along the canal, lots of chocs, family and friends, multiplicitous prezzies, etc etc. Tomorrow I'm off to the spa - who could ask for anything more?

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2007

Hm! The guy with the sequins had nothing on the guy who did pushups with his fingertips. Nice to see Canada fielding a quasi-decent entry, however. Hell no ie+, New Zealand won that by a mile, we had nearly half of the whole thing. I hope you're not getting the wrong idea though, not everyone here's big and tough like him. After showing a few people around the office, he's been remembered as one Brett Fairweather, spreading the word of excercise and good living accross the country like a communicable disease. Un-huh, whatever. Our guy kicked your guy's ass.

    Derby Dead Pool 2007

I elected to interpret the role of the joker within a team as a sort of 'odd one out'-type role. As in, all of my team members either play(ed) dicks on TV / in film or are authors of detective-involving whodunnits, except CLS who conducted real life investigations as a structural anthropologist. Couldn't be more straight-forward.

    Derby Dead Pool 2007

DDP might have had a better idea if like last year, we added a breif description of the DDP candidates. But I suppose because the expected numbers, it wasn't possible. I'm going to have a look at your team and guess the 'tecs.. Enjoy!

    Derby Dead Pool 2007

Funnily enough I saw that while scanning the celebs in DDP earlier tonight. I recognised the name straight way.. He played Dr Watson in 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' in 1984 with the incomparable Jeremy Brett... Thank you. I was just scanning the DDP site and noticed, for the first time, the inane analysis section. I was devastated to see that my team was not named in the "theme teams" section. Apparently "in eternum+'s wrinkly dicks" - a team consisting entirely of people who played TV/film detectives and/or who wrote murder mystery novels - is too "subtle".

Rude Kid - Not sure if you check this thread but with regard to David Burke, I did email you as requested but it would appear that perhaps you did not receive it. In case you didn't, this is the David Burke on my team. DOB: 25th May 1934 POB: Liverpool, England Likelihood he's still alive: quite high Likelihood of getting a UK obit: extremely high

    Death Of My Country

It appears to be that Canadians - who seem to have become delusional en masse - have elected a Conservative (minority) government. Woe is Canada. Last time we had a Conservative government, we were pretty much f*cked by our "friends" to the south, and are still paying for it. I shall now have my own mini-moment of silence, as I mourn the (hopefully temporary) demise of Canada as a great country.
