    Read Any Good Books Lately?

C'mon guys, there must be a few that deal in the death business that make more interesting reading. I saw - but never got round to buying - that book called STIFF which was all about the uses to which dead bodies are put. Anyone read that and want to comment either way? Not only have I read it, but I have reviewed it as well. It's a pretty easy and interesting read. She writes well, for a journalist*. *I don't mean this derogatorily. What I mean is that I've read a few books written by journalists (Tuesdays with Morrie being a prime and topically relevant example) which were written deplorably, thus detracting from themselves**. **Kind of like this sentence.

    Andy Fordham Memorial Darts Thread

I'm really disappointed that I'm missing the darts world championship this year. I've watched it every year since moving to England. My favourite darts player is Ted Hankey, cause I like that he dresses up as The Count, and throws plastic bats into the crowd when he walks out. My least favourite darts player is John 'John-Boy' Walton, cause I think he's one hell of a twat, and also cause I hate his theme song. I am planning to fulfill a (recently devised) lifelong dream and attend Lakeside next year. I plan to wear a skimpy bikini which is decorated with bullseyes, so that I get on TV a lot. I also plan to get rip-roaringly drunk every night.

    Avatars

I'm not sure who you're agreeing with but it isn't me, given that I didn't voice anything along the lines of what you stated in this post. All I said was that I don't like vulgar avatars; I said nothing about the textual inclinations of some of the posters.

    Avatars

I would like to express my modest displeasure at the apparent increase of vulgar avatars appearing on this forum. What happened? The DeathList used to be such good clean fun.
  7. C4 ran a TV programme about this last year. Good ol' C4. I miss it, and its quality television programming...

Ah... it all makes sense now... I was a bit confused for a while, but then it all became clear. Another born-again DLer: how does it feel? Any identity crises? TF

    Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries Etc...2006

My God! I've just checked the calendar, and my birthday is listed in all its glory! I've just felt my first twinge of birthday excitement; normally I only start getting excited for my birthday at the beginning of March (I'm not allowed to get excited about my birthday before my sister's, which is March 7th). Only four months away... yipee!

TF (or I guess just plain old M now), you have brought a tear to my eye. Mr. Men was a part of my childhood I'd almost forgotten about. Ah! Mr Men... I was weaned on the Bernard le gros chien rouge series myself...

    Abe Vigoda

I like this! I now have a tiny little Abe Vigoda at the bottom of my Mozilla browser, smiling up at me. No idea who he is, but I know that he's alive. Wouldn't it be great if the DL offered something like this? Like, you could choose one candidate from the current list and have them at the bottom of your browser, so every time it was open there they'd be, providing you with their very own up-to-the-minute status report. I wonder who I would choose...

Ah, come on, admit it...you've forgotten the last verse and you've just made that up! No, I swear that's the song! Well... Honestly? I couldn't remember the third line of that final verse so I, um, improvised in the spirit of the verse. But the rest of those lines are the actual lines of the song. I was always particularly embarassed singing that last verse, the degree of embarrassment varying in direct correlation to the amount of alcohol that I'd consumed prior to singing it. BTW - HAPPY BIRTHDAY AtJ!!! And may I say that I am particularly fond of your signature ie+

I very much like the new Today's Birthdays section at the bottom of the forum front page. How can anyone accuse us of being sick bastards when we're all about the love?

Might I ask, are the caskets you use made more often from oak, pine or maple or is there some other wood which is more preferrred? In my recent but limited experience, the caskets currently most popular are metal.

    Lou Rawls

I think you'll find he will be, as the show was pre-recorded. Caught a snippet of aforementioned tribute tonight. It was, indeed, recorded in September. They kept the Lou Rawls bit in, adding a rider at the bottom explaining that he is now, in fact, dead, and that this constituted his last ever television performance. The rider also suggested that in his memory, programme watchers should donate tons of cash to UNCF. It was a really good performance too - Stevie certainly seemed to enjoy it. Made me kind of weepy. Charles Kennedy

I like Charles Kennedy, and think it's a shame that he's had to resign over this, although wonder at the logistics of running a country when you have a drink problem. As I'm sure the Libs Dems will be storming into power immanently. I voted for them, at any rate...

    Aaron Spelling

Speak for yourself! They recently reran all of Melrose Place on LivingTV and it was quality! QUALITY!! And... I was just reading through his filmography... I didn't realise he'd produced all of those top notch Hart to Hart made-for-TV movies. The man is pure genius.
