    Writer Edward Bunker Has Died

Perhaps you could simply direct him to this site and let him "discover" it for himself?

I suggested that somewhere above Great minds think alike, eh?

    Lou Rawls

I think you'll find he will be, as the show was pre-recorded. How tacky would that be! Maybe they'll change it to A Tribute to Lou Rawls.

    Lou Rawls

Hurrah! An ace in the hole! Well done team! Guess he won't be appearing on Stevie Wonder's Tribute Show after all... As aforementioned, I do think Lou Rawls was an excellent musician; hopefully his death will spark a renewed interest in his music.

    Dead Pop Stars

Sorry!!! Wasn't gettin' snippy tho' just a bit of banter. Sorry if you take me sarcy irony as gospel. That's the problem with words on a screen, often missing the snide grin that goes with 'em. Imagine my smokin' bad-attitude fox avatar saying these things. 'pology accepted - cuddles to make up?

    Dead Pop Stars

F**k's sake! Start one, then we could have cultural exchange visits because the posters on the pop star thread could drop in to the gardening one and discuss that much over-looked thrash outfit: Lawnmother Deth. Hey! You're the one who posted the link to that site in the first place! All I did was point out that there was a 'farming' category inamongst categories such as 'inhalation of own vomit', 'heroin', and 'mysterious circumstances'. If I were a rock star, I know which category I wouldn't want to be in. No need to get snippy.

    New Year Greetings

Perhaps a trip to Margate is in order. Or if you're very nice to him, Notapotato might lend you his. I'm afraid they're no longer in the best of nick. I'd be pleased to lend them to you for a bit if you want though. Aw! That's very sweet of you, Mr notapotato! However, I am pleased to announce that my luggage arrived safe and sound on my doorstep last night, a scant 24 hours after I did. I am currently sporting said slippers, which are fuzzy and pink.

    Charlton Heston

I have to say that I'm pleased Heston is on the list, as I would be very happy if he died. Preferably in some kind of he-was-cleaning-his-gun-and-it-went-off-by-mistake kind of way. That would be great.

    Lou Rawls

Who knows. Maybe he won't perform, he'll simply give one of those recorded spoken tributes. According to the TV Times, this tribute is being given in order to raise money for the United Negro College Fund. Perhaps LR is willing to chance it for such a cause.

Ya gotta hate it when your hard core rock'n'roll lifestyle is brought to an abrupt end by a farming/gardening accident. And them'uns died young, too.

    Roger Taylor

And yet it was a (seemingly) clever way of getting round the forum 'naughty language' sensor. I was a bit taken by surprise when I saw the guest's name on the forum front page!

    The Hartlepool Deadlypool

nap and MH - well done... your new deadlypool site looks nice. I wish I'd gotten my act together and entered a team, but was unfortunately too busy. And far be it from me to even pretend to know enough quasi-famous people to enter such a tournament with the aim of winning. However, I think I might be quite good at getting the lowest score, or only being awarded negative points. Perhaps next year I'll realise my dream of entering a team consisting exclusively of actors who played TV detectives.

    Lou Rawls

NEWSFLASH! Just saw an advert for A Tribute to Stevie Wonder, scheduled to take place on the Fox network on January 7th (7 - 11pm). Amongst others, Lou Rawls is scheduled to perform. It strikes me that this will be a good opportunity to see how well he looks. As there's a chance I won't be able to watch it, may I suggest other DLers try to watch this tribute in order to assess LR's current state of play.

    Lou Rawls

Couldn't agree more. Just before Christmas I bought the CD Yule Struttin': A BlueNote Christmas and a Lou Rawls track is included on it, along with tracks by notables such as Chet Baker, Count Basie, Dexter Gordon, Dianne Reeves, etc. Way famous enough... wwaaaayyyy famous. I highly recommend the CD by the way, it's excellent Christmas jazz.

    New Year Greetings

Happy very belated New Year! Mine was spent on the banks of Lake Ontario - thoroughly enjoyed by all. Rather unfortunately, my luggage seems to have enjoyed itself a little too much, and has refused to return to the US. I am currently missing my pyjamas, slippers, and prezzies the most . Anyway, great to read you all again, and may I say that the 2006 list looks smashing (the lack of 1980s TV detectives notwithstanding). Although CLS has my full and continued support for a swift and peaceful passing, I am considering championing Aaron Spelling this year, in honour of all the fabulous shows he's given us over the years. PS - I saw on an advert for one of those morning talk shows that Dick Clark, having survived the Rockin' Eve, is doing very poorly health-wise.
