    Saddam Hussein

Another one of Saddam's lawyers kidnapped and killed. Saddam's lawyer killed Since Saddam's trial is grabbing global attention, I think whoever Saddam's lawyer at the end of the year would be a great pick for DL, DDP, RDP, and whoever else has an ongoing death pool.

Abu Hamza Al-muhajir - The New Leader Of Al-qaeda

agreed. He's as good as dead.

    Brooke Astor

Even if any of us gave ol' Brookie a phone call, does anyone honestly think she'll be able to hear the person on the other end? I've driven past her family estate in Newport, Rhode Island...I wouldn't mind living in that. Never been in the place, since there's a standard adult admission price of US$18 and I can't rationalize spending that on a mansion tour. Thank you kindly, I'll take a couple pictures from the street, if you don't mind.

    Harold Pinter

If someone takes care of Pinter...I'll do my best on Billy Graham next month (kidding of course)

Damn...that's in my neck of the woods. Now I know where NOT to go...

Ron Santo sounds to be about par for his course, but the man's still a wreck and worth monitoring.

    Stephen Hawking

As was I! Although for me it was for a month, while I waited for the results of my bloodwork. Admittedly I hadn't gotten as far along with my pre-demise plans as you had (and yours sound excellent), aside from the part where you kill yourself before the complete loss of muscle control set in. My dad had ALS - not a pretty thing to watch someone go through (and, I would guess, not pretty to actually go through, either). Unlike Mr Hawking, however, my father never got a super-deluxe, space-age robotic wheelchair contraption. Not fair, really... I saw a couple patients go through ALS and I don't want to imagine what it's like. I'm sorry to hear about your father...can't imagine being in your shoes there. It's a shame no one told me until years after my experience that most of the time, a quick ALS test can be used. Spread your thumb and forefinger apart, and if the muscle sags between the index finger and thumb...uh oh.

    Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking - 6 Days in Hong Kong I think he looks pretty healthy in the article's picture, don't you? Who am I kidding, he's a mind in a shell. I'll be honest, I was faced with the possibility of an ALS diagnosis for about a week (then my neurologist decided to finally slap a label on me) and during that week, I had my plan of how I was going to party my ass off, then kill myself before I wound up looking anything like Dr. Hawking. No way in hell I'd want to be in his physical condition.

I might as well speak up...I'm the other Suharto voter. For me, it was a tough call between Suharto and Pinter.

Haven't read that thread yet. Now I'm curious. Here's another one - Accident or Microsoft's doing... The absolute expert of Mac OS falls off a balcony...pretty strange.

    Not Exactly Famous...

he's mentioned on Near Misses, but I think he is more appropriate here. Either way, I don't think it matters since 95% of us are going to forget him next week unless we watch 2001: A Space Odyssey once a month or so.

    Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi

Makes me wonder what's worse...suffocating due to severely damaged lungs and in his own blood or having some terrorist cut your head off on camera. The following comment pushes forth one man's opinion - I'm glad he suffered for 52 minutes, but I don't think it was long enough.

Moe Drabowski, former pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles (amongst other baseball teams). Set, and still holds, a World (whatever made them define it 'world', I'll never know) Series records for strikeouts made in a relief appearance with 11 in 1966. Yeah, I only posted it because I'm from Baltimore.

Kidney's are working again...someone better be pulling his remaining leg. Gotta say, I'm kinda happy for the ol' guy. Even with better kidney function, he's not the healthiest guy in the world but I'm sure there are better candidates for shorter lists.

article on WWE.com has announced the passing of John Tenta...since I'm at work, I'm not going to read it. His passing is cited on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recent_deaths

    Ron Santo

Sifted through a Major League Baseball article to find that he's been discharged and is "at home rehabbing", but I'm following him for the same reasons. Between cancer and type 1 diabetes, it might not take much more than a viral infection to do him in. Disclaimer - great guy, very respectable and loved by Chicago Cub fans. I don't want him to die, but the health problems are too much to ignore.

    Billy Preston

I'm a huge Beatles fan and have been since the day Lennon died (I was 4 and it was the first time I'd heard of them), but I'm sadly celebrating this passing. Just started a year long heads-up death pool with a friend of mine and Billy Preston just gave me a 41 point head start.

I was all set with a great death list for Weatherman's DP (before the deadline of course), and I read through all the existing lists to make sure my list didn't look too much like anyone else's...then I came upon your list CP and saw that your top 6 were in my top 6. Nice picks, I couldn't have done better myself. Weatherman DP is the one actually want to win - so instead of picking "interesting" picks, I based it off the ones I thought were most likely to die. So WDP is my A team. You sound like you rock MBH2. Where's the drunken friends thread??? I think we have similar methods in choosing our picks, which is frighteningly comforting. Lung cancer, brain cancer, pancreatic cancer, ALS, advanced Alzheimer's, people refusing life saving treatment and seriously extended illnesses all make good picks, brah.

    Drunken Deathlisters

My favorite drunk story - almost 10 years ago starting at a friend's 21st birthday party. Got completely wasted on something called Avalanche and had the nerve to go to the liquor store with a friend to get more alcohol. On the way back, he got a flat tire. On the side of the road, Chuck, who was totally sober, is trying to lift the car with a jack while I was laying on the sidewalk, laughing my ass off when a though suddenly occured to me "did you put the parking brake on, Chuck?" "I think so." No sooner did he finish that little sentence did his car roll backwards, off the jack and down the street on three tires. All I could do was laugh some more as he chased it a bit. Finally, the brake was set, the car was up on the jack and Chuck was having trouble with changing the car's tire. Drunk me got off the sidewalk and changed the tire correctly, and we were on our way so I could drink some more. I must've changed the tire correctly, we got back to the party in one piece. 2am rolled around, and I was supposed to be dropped off at a friend's place to sleep off the effects of all that alcohol. My luck, he was asleep, and I was outside with nowhere to sleep and alcohol galore in my system, so what's a guy to do...I drove home. I had the crazy idea to drive 20 minutes to my parents house, during which time, I passed 3 police parked, in separate places, on the side of the road AND a police station. I got home in one piece and PUT THE CAR IN THE GARAGE cleanly. I got out of the car and kissed the ground. Off to bed...which at the time was a waterbed. 5 minutes into my attempted sleep, I got seasick and vomitted then wound up sleeping under the toilet. It gets better. 7:30 rolls around and my brother came in and asked why I was on the bathroom floor. I told him I was in bed. He told me my alarm is going off and that it's 7:30 which is when I realized I had to be at work at 8am. In a panic, I showered, brushed, dressed and raced to work. I got there on time, got out of the car, took a relaxed breath and fell on my ass, realizing that I was still drunk. Better still, I was the supervisor and had to guide 3 of my associates in putting up the Sale signs for the weekly deals before open at 10am. After struggling to get things done, around 9am, my employees found me laying on the floor laughing at the ceiling...still quite drunk. I started to sober up when my manager came in around noon...about the same time my girlfriend and I decided to creep out to lunch. Girlfriend was ticked, but it's not like she had space to bi*ch at me, she had a husband. I'm guessing that when I drove home, my blood alcohol content was about triple the limit in my state. Ahhh, those were the days.
