Authors Last A Long Time, But....
angryGreatness replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
Scratch that, she's dead. And with her, Sobol, and Sendak dead any motivation for me making a Children's Book author theme team dies too. I have been thinking about writers too a couple of suggestions that might perk up your interest again Jan Pienkowski b.1936 who provided the distinctive illustrations for Helen Nicol's (b.1937) Meg & Mog books & Alan Ahlberg b.1938 I'm sure I could find hundreds of elderly children's book authors, but if I were to make a theme team for them I would want it to be a list of authors I have heard of before, of series I read when I was younger. Michael Bond (b. 1926), creator of Paddington Bear. Thats a start Bond, Beverly Cleary, Richard Adams, and Eric Carle were all ideas I wrote down. I could stretch the definition a bit to include Sir Terry Pratchett and Harper Lee. It's a moot point though, I have other theme teams put together that were much easier to make and more entertaining. -

Another Saturday Night Live writer and the man partially responsible for John Belushi's death, Nelson Lyon, has died of liver cancer aged 73. Lyon was also the man who gave Andy Warhol the idea of incorporating an actual zipper onto the cover the The Rolling Stones' album "Sticky Fingers"

If we're going to bring Cats & Dogs up, why not bring up his spectacular role in George of the Jungle 2 as "Mean Lion"?

He'll live. Every report says he's improving, and that the respirator is just a precaution.

And a UK obit means a hit for 3 teams on the DDP. -
For the concert on July 6, and subject to the continued progress of his recovery from cancer, Jon will play Hammond organ on his Durham Concerto and piano on a further selection of his solo pieces mixed with works by other composers connected to Jon and his music It's off. Anyone get the feeling I have a vested interest in Mr Lord's predicament? Smoke obscuring the water. Not quite first to post the death, but first in the most apt thread. Hopefully this shakes DDT out of his vacation.

Donald J. Sobol, author of the Encyclopedia Brown and the more mature Two-Minute Mysteries series, has died aged 87. Not sure how popular they were in the UK, but I always loved his books when I was a kid, even if the solutions to the mysteries were usually complete bullshit. -
Agreed. We have enough sub-threads. Any more and we could just lock the Dead of 2012 thread altogether.

Actor Michael Clarke Duncan is recovering after a heart attack.

Look at those eyes. She longs for her death more than any of us.

Yeah, I'd pencilled this one in on the (slight) chance she makes it to 2013. I think the Daily Mail would see website hits from covering her death so she'd get the required obit. Reach for the rubber eraser. For the sake of cherished childhood memories, I hope Charlie Cairoli never got involved in the seedy world of clown porn. Shit. Still, it's not a huge loss if she doesn't get an obituary in the Daily Mail. Still, my 2013 DDP needs a new Joker now. I hold my tongue, it's a huge loss.

I was just about to post the same story. I'll definitely watch this, but don't be surprised if it's to cover something up. Jackson has been under scrutiny before. Has been stated that he has a 'mood disorder' and is receiving intensive care for it. He's either crazy or addicted to something, but I don't think it's cancer or anything. They wouldn't be so secretive it was something more sympathetic.

Is her oversized forehead throwing her balance off? EDIT: Turns out Chenoweth has Meiniere's Disease, an inner-ear problem that causes vertigo and balance problems. Her large forehead has nothing to do with it.

You're dead, Lol.

Japanese actress Isuzu Yamada, whose career spanned from 1930-1961 most notably in three Akira Kurosawa films (The Lower Depths, Throne of Blood, and Yojimbo her last film), has died aged 95. She was chosen by 2 teams on the DDP this year. -
Dennis Flemion, founding drummer of rock band The Frogs and brief member of The Smashing Pumpkins, has gone missing while swimming in a lake in Wisconsin and is presumed dead at 57.

It wouldn't surprise me Mickey Rooney outlived Zsa Zsa Gabor, Wojiech Jaruzelski, and Ronnie Biggs, allowing him to be the last survivor of both lists. Then when he died both lists would be cleared at the same time.
